What Was The First Thing You Purchased after Finding It on OzBargain?

Just curious to see if people remember the first thing they purchased while finding it here on OzBargain.

I'll go first: Aladdin Vacuum Flask Heritage Traditional Plaid 710ml $9.95 Delivered @ Your Home Depot

I clearly remember at the time that I didn't need a flask, but for $10, might as well. Fast-forward 7 years, and I'm still using this flask almost daily.

  • I managed to score a free sample of the OXY facewash that many didn't get. I remember picking up this speaker from Dick Smith on clearance and got an even cheaper price since it was the last one instock. I still have it today.

  • I can't remember. I just remember the saving was significant. Nothing else I found through OZB has had as big a saving, except maybe that $200 Breville stand mixer last month. AirPod Pro 2 was about 30% preordered through Amazon, which was nice as well.

There's been losers on OzBargain since time immemorial.

        • 1000%. Feels worse since covid started. I'm just annoyed from the uncommented negs

          • @Caped Baldy: You can either ignore or just leave them a passing comment acknowleding their anonymous loser status.

    - citibank fee free for life signature CC
    - eneloops, copious amounts of eneloops
    - 65" plasma in 2014, one of the last ones produced by panasonic, and i'm still using it.

    Giftcards from the classified section

Can't remember if this is the first thing I bought, but it is the first deal I commented on after a purchase. A pair of tennis shoes from Catch of the Day. Order was cancelled though due to stock issues (supposedly).

Then there was the free haircut.

    A HP 7920e printer.

It looked like a decent printer, being sold with a retailer discount in the form of gift cards, and a manufacturer rebate too.

It was a decent printer. But I doubt I'll ever have a reason to go back to HN to redeem the gift cards, the rebate only applied if you signed up to HP's instant ink subscription scheme which was useless to me, and the printer blocks use of anything but expensive genuine HP ink cartridges.

The printer is back in its box, barely used, until I decide whether to chuck it or whether there's someone to donate it to who could get value from an expensive to run ink jet printer.

It was a lesson that companies sell things cheap for a reason, and sometimes that reason means it doesn't end up being a real OzBargain for you.

Joined early 2010 but had used the website for a very long time before joining.

HP Pavilion DV7 17” Notebook 2.66Ghz Core2Duo, 4GB Ram, 1TB HDD, 1GB Graphics was one of my earlier purchases but definitely not the first.

    • A neg. Do I have an enemy?

      • no probably the same person negging all the above comments
