this is an excellent value card for the price, a little slower than a 3060Ti and mine pulls about 95W slightly undervolted. would recommend, chews through 1080p max and 1440p med/high

    • would this be a good upgrade from 1080?

      • -3

Not really, 1080 plays everything this is capable of and for those that an 1080 struggles in, this will struggle all the same, say high vram consumption and/or raytracing titles. It does perform better I think 15-20% but imo, not worth an upgrade.

        • +1

Yeah it's an upgrade, but not a huge one.

I'd want at least 50% higher FPS to bother upgrading a GPU, myself, and this is closer 45%.

    • How would this compare with to GTX1070 in terms of Streaming encoder for Twitch?

  • +1

    Definitely a good 1080p GPU

  • +4

will we see this go sub $300 or RX 6700 sub $400?

    hope so

  • +11

Would've jumped on this 6 months ago. Too bad they were too slow in decreasing their prices

    • What did you end up getting?

      • +6

I ended up going with Xbox S & game pass subscription via turkey codes

        • +2

Better option IMO. Not sure if worth buying GPU's these days if the sole purpose is for gaming. Bought a second hand Xbox one x for $150 and playing FH5 4K no problem.

      • +1

I ended up buying a used 3060ti (it works really well), but my first preference would of been new

  • +1

should be able to get this game still, extended to may 13th by the looks of it

  • +2

Thanks but the price is $439

    • +3

$342 only from the stores in the locations mentioned by OP, my friend.

    • +5

Change the store to the one listed above, then select delivery. It was working for me, but missus talked me out of it in the end.

      • +3

        hand in your goon credentials

        • +4

Was intended as a birthday gift to spruce up the daughter's computer, from an RX570-4Gb.
But wife reminded me she really hasn't been using it much. :P
It's a good bargain for sure, and probably a missed opportunity at a great upgrade, but it's still $342 in the bank.

          • @HiredGoon: ahh makes sense, I also recently upgraded my daughters PC from a RX570 4gb to a RTX3060,

GPU's $ are coming down so more opportunities in the future,

    • +1

Ahh thank you. I see now - Weird though!

  • +4

I held off the other 6650xt deal which just expired because these cards are gimped to pcie4 x8 lanes not 16 lanes, which means if you are running them on a mobo with pcie gen 3 then you are still gimped to x8 lanes. Its not a big difference I think only about 5% but still…. gimped :-(

@OP whats your prediction on HODL with were gpu prices are headed

    • I have the 6600xt and it's true. More importantly keep in mind the driver issues that come with amd. I can tell you for a fact my old 970 didn't have any of the issues the 6600xt has with PUBG/Hell Let Loose and even overwatch at times.

I don't know who's angrier out of the amd teenager fanbois (who vehemously deny driver issues) or the poor people they lied/tricked into purchasing from their sportsteam.

    • The 6700 10GB is full 16 lanes and slightly higher memory bus at 160bit. But it costs about $100 more (or $70 when on special recently for $420).

Personaly I think it's worth an extra $70 for the extra 2GB VRAM alone, but even more so when considering the higher memory bandwidth, full PCIE lanes support and the fact it's about 5% faster.

I doubt we will see heavier discounts for 66xx at least. The amount of stock is very low for 66xx cards.

    • lol another retailer on an alt account

  • This deal is still valid https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/770078 I picked one up 2 weeks ago and very happy with it. I couldn't justify the price/performance of the XT over this base version. Watched quite a lot of benchmark and gameplay comparison videos before pulling the trigger.

  • +1

Nothing against 6600 xt or 6650 xt but if you can steer clear of this variant (gigabyte eagle). it's poorly built and I had nothing but issues. Luckily it was purchased from Amazon who refunded after 6 months with no questions asked. I have dealt with average computer store warranties before and I avoid cheap products with known failures from them.

    • +1

This one's the Gaming OC though. Better than the Eagle, like an A tier card. Eagle is a C-ish card.

      • +1

Yup my bad. They look similar but one is A tier. Great deal.

    • +2

I own a gigabyte eagle 6600xt and I can say @Godgodgod is correct. although there's 3 fans but the cooling is so poor that thermally does not allow pulling up the power limit at all, it's kinda loud too…

I end up watercooling mod it with some left over parts. https://imgur.com/gallery/85ZdgPX

      runs like a charm thereafter.

  • +1

Are we genuinely expecting the 7600 XT to cost less than $500? bloody good deal for this card IMO.

    • +1

      Never say never.

Can't hurt to wait and see (unless you really need something today).

      • +2

Jensen, Lisa and the shareholders getting rich off consumers say Never! Lol

  • Would this struggle on i5 4690 system for gaming?

    • I've paired a 6600xt with QTJ1 (engineer sample that have almost identical performance to i7 10700 - 8 Core 16 Thread 4.6Ghz)

and the QTJ1 on CPU intensive titles (COD/PUBG) it does show its struggle (unable to get above 90% utilization with 6600xt under 2k low picture quality), this is with fine tuned Memory timings, secondary + territory both tuned.

time to ditch i5 4690 if you want to play modern games.

  • is this worth the upgrade from a 1660 super?

    • +1

yes, but if your running 1440p monitor then I would look at a 12gb card: RX6700, RTX3060 etc,

      • yeah idek if my monitor runs 1440p tbh but not in the best financial state rn so might have to hold out for another deal. Annoying though as this for $340 + last of us is a steal.

        • +2

if your not sure then it is likely a 1080p, your 1660 Super is fine, this is a upgrade but not necessary imo.

    • I'd say so

    • -1

imo too small of a jump.

    • I've got a 1660 super too but I'm not upgrading to anything less than a 6700 maybe even xt cause your next step should be 1440p if your at 1080p currently.

  • Not to hijack the post but as an upgrade for a 6GB GTX 1060 working with a ryzen 5 3600, should I jump to something like this or a 12GB 3060?

I don't play the latest FPS with bleeding edge graphics but games in recent rotation are ones like RDR2, no mans sky and fallen order. Running a Dell S2721DGF monitor and I don't need something that can run at 4K but 1440p would be nice.

    • +1

      https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/DgDdeAzXKVwRKTFx9kTZXH-120…
1440p rdr 2 benchmark here, didn’t check the setup but I guess they are using good cpu and ram. So take around 10% fps off if you have old cpu and ram.
Really depends 3060 price, if it’s price is somewhere around 6700xt/6750xt, then the performance difference is huge.

      • I assume you mean the perf diff is bigger on the 67xx cards?

  • Picked one up to replace a 1050ti. Should be a decent upgrade. Was looking at $300 second hand gpu's so this makes sense.

  • heh that moment you realise that MSY is now just a rebadged UMART and the deal is only in NSW :(

    • Yeah they seem to be the same company now.

If you're in another state, you can choose one of the above NSW stores and then choose delivery

    • I'm in regional QLD and got it at the low price by changing store pickup location and then picking delivery later on in checkout.

  • $347+delivery for interstate, i just got one shipped to SA for an extra $21
A bit ouch but have been itching for an upgrade for so long now and this is a pretty nice card.

  • +1

Deal updated, pricing now activated for NSW, ACT, VIC, QLD and TAS postcodes when shipped

    Already on the containers

  • @notaccel
    @VoidIvory

What's happening with the Umart and MSY pricing?

First it was NSW only and then updated to all states earlier today

Now the price has been jacked and the "Dreamhack Special" tag which had 7 days remaining is gone

    • +1

No idea tbh, I don't work in the marketing department, most likely shipments arrive in NSW first and then are delivered to other states later.

    • +1

Anything pricing related is beyond VoidIvory and I, sorry.

@UmartBuddy may be able to assist further on your question.
