The online price is $15, so you'll have to go in person (or perhaps request by phone/email?) for the $10 price

$10 is cheaper than I'd expect for honey right now, especially for what seems like a legitimate product from a local producer. I was expecting this to be fake honey at that price, but it seems legit.

You can also get full honeycomb frames, royal jelly, and other honey related products. Good find.

I've been combing through the honey sales for a deal - and some good puns - like this. A shiny dollar to the first poster who can work the word 'meliponiculture' into a play on words.

    Thanks OP!

        Outstanding!

Please pass on my fondest regards to your cousin…

      • I'm genuinely impressed.

  • Buy honey from a beekeeper.
There's a lot of honey out there that's imported or has had corn or rice syrup added.
    imported honey
    fake honey

  • What? OP says this is local honey sourced from the Glasshouse mountains area on the north coast of Queensland (on the way to Noosa)

Sounds very cheap for a 1kg of Australian “pure” honey as a retail sku. I am sure it tastes great, but concerned how they can effectively market it at this price.

If you know your honey, I’d be concerned about C3 or C4 adulterated product making its way into the market. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with using additives, provided it’s clearly indicated.

But then again it could be a loss leader as you can only get it in store.

The deal sounds too good, I am going to give it a miss and flick a few coins to the beekeepers of my local honey.

BTW, when you get out of the big smoke, try buying from regional suppliers that you encounter on your way through towns. It’s amazing what you can experience from truely small but regional beekeepers that market their own product. More often than not you get good quality and keep a small business going.

that is a big yes from me. I always purchase local honey when I see it. my favourite was lavender honey. hives in the middle of a lavender farm. really thick honey. magic taste.
