This stuff is nasty, sickly sweet and full of added sugar.

I don’t know if it’s called ‘added sugar’ in a product like this where sugar is a key ingredient.

Zooper Doopers are great for the following:
      - temporary relief to a sore throat whilst keeping fluids up
      - cooling down in a heat wave
      - distracting sick kids from their distress (they give them to kids in Emergency Departments)
      - kids parties
      - big low budget family gatherings
      - treat from grandparents etc

Sure sugar isn’t great for people in excess but something like this is fine every once in a while.

        Agree.

Take up shit all room in freezer, or you can store like 5 at a rims or you can store in cupboard until ready to freeze.

they give them to kids in Emergency Departments

They give them frozen hydralyte. Not zooper doopers.

        • +22

Actually, in our hospital, we give kids, and big kids (read adults) Peter’s Lemonade Icy poles for dehydration and post op recovery, which is essentially the same as a Zooper Dooper. Most kids (and big kids) will stop eating the hydralyte icy poles after a few licks when they realise there’s something off about them, but will completely demolish a lemonade icy pole, which although not as well absorbed as hydralyte, still contains sufficient sugar/energy, electrolytes and fluids to get enough of an improvement in their fluid state.
At this price, I’m gonna get my department to stock up on Zooper Dooper instead of the Peter’s brand - with the money saved we’ll fix the health budget crisis in no time

Our local ED gives zooper doopers at triage. They’ve given it to my kid and other friend’s kids.

Awesome. I will buy some of these. Not to eat, but to use as cold packs when I get meat & milk

    • Not sure about all Coles', but I know that my Coles doesn't freeze these. Instead they're stored at ambient temperature on the shevles.

Great use for them! No common allergens. Cheap for a large group.

        What about uncommon allergens

        • +5

People can be allergic to a lot of random stuff. The common ones are eggs, milk, nuts, seafood. It obvs doesn’t account for if there is a kid with diabetes in the class, but zooper doopers would seem easier than making cupcakes free of the main allergens.

I know that pain. Stopped buying them because I was eating more plastic than a sea turtle.

Got them in store in WA. They're not stored in the coolers. Found them in the baking isle, strange enough

  • Is there a way to check stock levels at your local store online like you can with Woolworths online?

'Not sure of the heavy markdown' ….it's cold outside and winter is coming.

  • Nice find, my kids love these. I've done a click and collect order allowing substitutions. Hopefully they have them in stock, or give me the normal ones instead.
