I wish they would make a water and shock proof model. Kids break them too easy.

    • That's.. actually a really good idea.

      • Play sitting on the bottom of the pool…

  • Is there any point (other than price) of getting this vs a 3ds XL?

    • +1

With the 3ds XL you'll be able to play the latest titles & the 3D novelty.
You won't be able to do that with the Dsi XL

    • Other than price? Probably not, but considering it's around 40-45% cheaper than the 3DS XL, let's not just brush over that point ;)

    • Yes, you avoid the headache of 3D and future doctor's appointments for your kids. Unless you have kids that sit perfectly still to hold the screen at the right angle, the picture is blurry and will cause a headache after a while , not to mention the strain on the eyes. Also, most games out there are for non-3D DSs. Not even starting on the more complex issues if you want to use a flash card to watch movies.
DSi XXL is good value for money and in my opinion much better for the kids.

      • Just so you know, you can turn 3D off permanently in the parental settings on the 3DS.

        • Yes, but why buy it then?
If I do not use I do not want to pay for it!

        • Well, a 3DS isn't just a DS with a 3D feature. It's a whole new console — like from PSP to PS Vita, or PS2 to PS3. So there are plenty of other improvements besides the fact that it's 3D, and most games going forward will be developed for the 3DS. Plus, it plays all existing DS games as well.

Not that I think the DSi XL is a bad deal of course — it's much cheaper, and there are already a lot of games out there for it.

        • The kids have so many games for the DSi so I think changing makes no sense for me whatsoever. Also, the library only has games for normal DS so again, no incentive.
I am a bit old school. If something works well I won't change it.
I prefer the PS2 over any other console as it has the most choice of games, a huge selection on Ebay for $5 or less, and many great games with lovely concepts.
I know that graphics are not good but hey, it's sturdy, the kids can get a new game more often and they have fun, so what more would I want.

  • kmart has them for the same price, they on clearance.
