  • I got this from you guys a few days ago !

    Nice deal

    • +1

      Thank you.

  • Support 5G?
And does anyone know if I got eSim and a physical one, will that drain the phone battery much faster?

    Thanks

    • +1

Yes they have switched on 5G as a trial (so they say). I have dual sims, one is e and battery use isnt impacted.

      • Thank you!

  • +3

I cant think any reason why someone would go this when the boost mobile with almost double the data for the same price exists

    • Link plz

    • Boost is $200 for 140GB, $300 for 260GB

      • +1

        $300 for 260GB

Actually it's $240 since I bought it from this deal few days ago.

        • hi mate
can boost be used to travel from telstra prepaid. my telstra is coming to an end .

          • +2

@Cmaz: if you are asking if you can port from Telstra to Boost then the answer i s YES.

            • @TaurusHead: Just did this a couple of days ago. Make sure you call them to switch rather than via the instructions/online as it's basically going from Telstra to Telstra and gets stuck in limbo. I contacted boost this morning (36 hrs later) and hopefully sorted it but going to be 4-48 hours to fix.

The big one is eSIM - I only have 1 spare physical SIM slot, which I use for overseas SIMs when travelling. Boost - at the moment - doesn't have eSIM.

Also Telstra does do deals on these from time to time - I bought mine for $250 with 50Gb (so total 200Gb) bonus data.

      • +1

Precisely. Im after an esim and unfortunately Boost are out until they catch up.

Considering I barely use 40GB a year, Im more focussed on functionality and price.

    • What about if you're an existing Boost customer? You can't get the discount price (new customers only) as a recharge is going to be $230 for 160gb

Who downvoted this question? It’s a good one!

Boost is limited to 150Mb/s, but from the description here it looks like this prepaid plan is too? Despite being direct with Telstra.

So perhaps the only difference is the option of eSIM with this plan.

      • The nuances between Telstra prepaid / Telstra upfront plans and Boost prepaid are covered at https://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/Boost_Mobile

As you've identified, really the only difference is eSIM is available on Telstra prepaid.

It's very difficult to see any benefit to paying the Telstra price premium.

        • I've heard from some coworkers that Telstra will get priority over Boost when in very low reception areas…is this right?? I'm about to switch from Belong as I'll be going between Darwin and NW QLD in the Gulf, and I need to have the best chance of getting reception while I'm out there.

          • @Bradydaniel: If that were true then Telstra would put it in writing. Indeed Telstra sells an add-on for business if you want priority data speeds, so even Telstra customers don’t get the highest priority.

I’ve been on Telstra for many years and Boost more recently. I can’t discern a difference.

Belong will be inferior to Boost coverage in any event

            • @kipps: Ok I'll try find the better deal then. Thanks for that 😊

they cap data and speed? grim

    • It's like a flashback from the 90s

      • 3gb data cap on ur cable internet m8

    • Yeah but like who tf is using more than 150Mbps on limited mobile data, let alone even like 20.

  • Can you do roaming overseas with this plan, e.g. in Hong Kong?

    • +1

International Roaming is not included in PrePaid services. Add on an International Roaming Pack to use your service in selected overseas destinations. For more info, visit telstra.com/prepaidroam

  • What happens when you run out of GBs, does anyone know?

    • From Telstra website:

If you exceed your included data allowance, you won’t be charged extra but your speed will be capped at 1.5Mbps, and slowed further in busy periods. This isn’t suitable for HD video or high-speed applications and means that some webpages, videos, social media content and files may take longer to load. However, you can still stream video in standard definition, listen to music, browse the web and access social media, even if the experience is slower sometimes. Heavy data users (users in the top 1% of all data users) may experience slower speeds than other users during busy periods.

      • Ok and when that happens, do I just recharge is that how it works?

        • You don't have to, unless you need more data at its full speed.

  • Any deals on recharge
Bought this a year ago but now need to recharge
    Thanks

  • Thank you, got one.

    • Thank you.

  • Does anyone know if calls to Poland are still free on Telstra? Cheers.

  • For existing Telstra pre-paid customers, any idea if it would it be possible to port your number to a $1 Optus SIM and then immediately port back to this Telstra Prepaid SIM Start Kit?

    • +1

You need to load the SIM with some credit. AldiMobile $5 SIM might be easier. You can port out immediately once the service is connected.
