I own TCL stuff. It's good. Not affiliated just my opinion

What TCL stuff do you have?

        He said it… stuff

What TCL stuff do you have?

I have the C835 and I reckon it's the best bang for buck non-OLED TV you can get. I compared with Sony and it was better than their range up to the X95 series which cost $3k (for 65"). At $1149 this is a great deal.

      Yes, they are qled…..

Don't know why they unpublished their comment. These are Mini LED, not QLED. They are not the same thing.

        https://www.popsci.com/reviews/qled-vs-oled-vs-mini-led/

In short Mini LED > QLED

        • +7

Mini LED and QLED are not mutually exclusive as they describe different parts of the TV. These TVs have both technologies. They are Mini LED due to their FALD backlight with smaller LEDs, and they are also QLED with a quantum dot LCD panel.

How does the image quality stack up in comparison to the Samsung Frame. Understand im paying a premium for the look but any idea if in terms of quality it stacks up to this?

    • Would love to know this as well.

    • +2

This will be a better overall image in pretty much every regard. The Frame is fairly low tier in terms of the actual image tech, but that's not really what you pay for when you buy that TV.

Get this TCL if you want a better cheaper TV, ir a bigger one for the same price as the Frame.

How does the image quality stack up in comparison to the Samsung Frame

When looking at TVs, look at what tech the panel is. It generally goes in order of:
      Regular LED
      QLED (Samsung tech)
      FALD LED
      Mini LED
      OLED

The Frame is QLED and the TCL in MiniLED so the TCL should have a better picture.

The easiest way to compare the panel technology is to look at Sony's range and prices since their models are numbered and align with the better tech eg:

      85 = LED
      90 = FALD
      95 = MiniLED
      A series = OLED

  • 4k 144hz 55" for $849, tempting…

    • I bought one, you won’t regret it.

$300 and i'll probably get one, don't game anymore lol

This needs an 85” (or bigger) version. It punches above its price class and we there’s room in the market for affordable but good 85” TVs.

    • There is going to be an 85C845 this year, but it will be ~5k AUD on release.

      • That’s good to know! Needs to have a sale price somewhere between $2.5-$3k. But I understand that may not happen for some time.

        • I'd say around Black Friday. TCLs always drop fairly quickly on sale.

Bing Lee is already doing preorders at 4.5k

    55 " shows $878 to me

Hold for mid June EOFY deals.

    • They will be long gone by then..

These prices are to clear exsisting stock.
The new (2023) TCL models are starting to hit stores now

    • Limited stocks as of now.

  • HDR10+ "decoding"
Is this how they say it doesn't do HDR10 in a round about way? What's the native contrast ratio?

    • +2

About 6000:1 which is better than most other LCDs out there.

  • I bought the TCL 75X10 a few years ago, basically an older model to this but still Mini LED/QLED, and the picture quality is amazing.
Only issue, mine runs Android TV and is super laggy and slow to open and use appa. Every few days I have to clear the RAM.
Is Google TV faster? Anyone else also getting lag?

    • I got the 65C835 and My friend got the 75P735, I have no issues with the laggy and slow OS, whereas my friend complains the P735 is some times very laggy and slow. C835 has got better chipsets I believe. I still do need to Reboot TV may be once in 2months. Overall a good quality TV, fingers crossed for longevity(10yrs). I will wait for the 75inch 845 sale.

I have the p725 as well
        Tell home to update
        Latest rom is v559

        • Latest updates already done, but P735 still slow and late responsive, sometimes.

    • I have the 65X7 and the 75C825

The C825 is miles faster.. Don't think I've ever noticed any significant lag at all

    Great picture
And if your like me and like to mess new firmware about every 6 weeks
    There's a discord for it

    • Any chance to brick it while messing with the new firmware?

      • Haven't had a issue yet
There's 2 versions ota and img
        It's in upgrade
Img is up and factory reset
There's was a bug in 559 now next day the fixed and in 560 now

    • I cannot find any firmwares on TCL website, I did updated the GoogleTV tho.

  • Is this the model that uses alot of power?

  • I just bought the C835 in the last round of sales (65" for $1160) and it's a fantastic TV for the money.
