Whatever you do DO NOT use points. Its a horrible exchange rate.

For some items you can book a round the world reward ticket in Business or First…..

Have you seen what the availability is like for business and first class these days?

      • Agree. But they did just release a whole heap of Asia destinations for Oct/Nov, and also Johannesburg…..most searches came up with classic rewards in Business class.

I've been looking for Joburg in March next year since March this year - no luck.

      • With a bit of luck there are a few out there, but it's much easier to find your way from Asia to Europe rather than from Australia.

Qantas has seems to have LESS availability than partners as well. For instance, despite being non one world, virgin Aus seems to have better Qatar biz availability. Even Alaska has better availability though their routing availability is weird from Aus.

        • Qatar had a fallout with Qantas over Emirates. You cant get any Classic Reward avail until 4 months out.

      • Well not an issue for me, I just find any Economy, Premium, Business or First "Sale" seat, call 131211 in Hobart and I'll have a converted Classic Reward Ticket.

        • The perks of having Platinum elite status I suppose right?
