Man… Don't make me feel bad, I just ordered the Dyson Gen5 for $921.

    • +14

Its not about how much you spent, its all about how much you saved…this is the way

    • +7

So, buddy, what do you drive? A Tesla or a Prado?

      • +3

        I am a Toyota person :)

    • +1

Wait till you use it. You won't regret it.

    • That sucks. Ok, I’ll show myself out.

    • +2

I also upgraded to the Dyson Gen5 from this exact stick vac. After 12 months it lasts literally minutes on a full charge on 'high' and seems to have lost a decent amount of suction. Not sure the Dyson will be 7 times better but fingers crossed lol

      • Can you buy new batteries for these?

      • You've got hair jammed somewhere. Check behind the roller edges. Dyson are equally shite for this. Source, Ive never bought a Dyson, but have had several from simply pulling hair out from dumped hard rubbish units. Battery life then back to full. One had 2 spare batteries with it..they were also perfect.

  • +7

I got this in the last deal and love it

    • +1

How is the battery life on this?

  • +1

My one just died its only been over a year. I think the battery but thats not that cheap to replace 😕.

  • -7

Not a multi cyclonic filter. Pass. Kmart and big w generic ones better.

    • +11

Having used the Kmart Cordless Stick Vacuum I would say that there is not much that it could be 'better' than

      • Fair enough, me too. But I had a look at this new model in store and it looks more promising than the previous green coloured one.

        https://www.kmart.com.au/product/cordless-stick-vacuum-clean…

        • We have this Kmart model. Its better than our 2yo Electrolux Q7 Animal, but the battery doesn't last as long (more power consumption I guess) and takes about 3 minutes to charge 1%. Good for a quick clean, but we still go through with a wired\bagged vac on weekends to get "everything".

    • +2

I have both. The Kmart one is a total disaster and borderline useless.
The A0 feels like a genuine vacuum.

  • -1

Cheap but seems to be 2 years old at least?

    • +8

Do you replace your vacuum every 2 years?

      • You do if you buy these cheap ones, my Dreame V9P is dead already!

        • +3

Had two fail not sure why they get so much love on here

          • @Pootie Tang: Because your general OZB poster doesn’t value their own time and opting for quality the first time round. Instead, buy garbage multiple times because logic.

    • Mine has hit 3 years+ still on the OG battery.

Love it better than my Shitty Dyson that died within a year.

  • +17

Coming from the owner of a dyson v8 who recently got this from the previous deal, i have to say this thing totally sucks! The viomi on its lowest power setting manages to remove fine dust and hair that the dyson was incapable of even in boost mode, dont think i could convince myself to ever buy another dyson again especially considering the price difference

    • +2

You don’t get any style points using this thing, though. If there’s any chance somebody will catch me vacuuming, it has to be with a Dyson

    • +1

So you're saying it's BETTER than the V8?

    • +1

when you say thing sucks, you mean the Dyson?
If you confirm this is worth buying I’ll take the plunge as I need to know if this is worth buying compared v6 or v8?

      • +4

When i said it sucks i meant it literally as a crappy pun, end of day you do want your vacuum cleaner to suck dont you? All jokes aside, i do think its a great buy compared to the v8, it has better performance, longer battery life and some other features missing from the dyson(removable battery, independent motor in brush head and led dust lights)

        • +2

My bad, I didn’t catch your pun. Thanks. Ordered one.

      • +2

It is MUCH better than both the V6 and V8 at a fraction of the price. I've had mine for more than 3 years now and works brilliantly with the OG battery. Still has very good charge.

    • I have v8. Will replace the battery and grab a spare motorhead. Much cheaper than buying a whole unit of a vacuum

  • Might have to pick one up to pair with my Miele C3… Anyone know if this is inferior to the Dyson V7 which is within a similar price range? Or what features is it missing compared to the Dyson?

    • +2

Im not really sure that its really missing any features compared to a dyson v7, however compared to my v8 it has much better suction, better manoeuvrability due to design with wheels on the vacuum head, better battery life, removable battery, led lights on the vacuum head(kinda seemed gimmicky at first but actually very useful) and also independent motors for the roller brush

  • +2

    Thank you!

  • +2

Darn it, just bought this from last deal for about $4 more

    • +4

You’ll have to skip coffee tomorrow to recoup the losses :(

      • +6

        Can't be in melb
        5.50 for a coffee

        • +1

Seriously? Went to melb before covid

          • @countmein: still 4-4.50 at most places even in the city. if i had to guess his regular order is probably decaf + almond/soy.

        • +1

You're going to the wrong coffee shops then.

        • +2

This is ozbargain, where you buy coffee from 7/11 and nowhere else

    • Same

  • +4

Bought this 2 years back to try since apparently this was value for money.

Could not suck up most hair from the carpets and I gave up on it.

  • Bought this 2 years ago, loved it, though it died after a tough life.

Having a 2nd battery is a must as well as completely stripping down the unit and cleaning every now and then.

    This price is great value.

    • +1

Where did you buy the 2nd battery?

    • A battery should last longer than two years. Edit do people keep buying this crap?

      • +1

The battery is fine, what failed was the vacuum cleaner itself from what I assume was misuse.

The store I got the spare battery from don't sell them anymore but AliExpress has batteries.

        • Fair call. Had two fail so maybe a bad batch

  • +1

Compared my Xiaomi G10 to A9, there is a slight difference. The price is almost half, so it's worth it.

    • 450w vs 400w power

      150aw vs 120aw suction

      3000 vs 2500 mAh Battery

  • +2

A lot of people saying the battery only lasts 2 years and replacement is expensive. If Dyson's have the battery conversion for Ryobi then it might just be cheaper to pickup a Dyson at EOFY sales if they are more likely to survive 5-10+ years compared to this… just my observation. Although this is a really good price and after reading some articles, is similar to , or outperforms a Dyson V8.

That's the thing when you buy cheap though, it rarely ever lasts.

    • +1

It's been 2 years with G10, battery is still top notch. Only charge died, that too because my kids kept smashing it on the wall. I bought a Dyson charger from Amazon to replace Xiaomi one, the problem is replacement parts is hard to find.

    • +5

One tip on the battery to everyone: Don't constantly charge the device. Charge it only when it is low. The battery life on the Dysons are crap and hence why you need to charge it more - so that it will die quicker. The Viomi is much better on the battery consumption and can last more uses (compared to the Dyson) before a charge is required. If you do it this way, then you will get more than 2 years out of it (I've had mine for 3+ years on the OG battery with substantial charge left in the battery).

      • But I have an A9 and only charge it flat, because it goes dead flat in 10 minutes :/ and has since only a few months after I got it. People seem to have wildly different experiences with this thing

        • Do you keep it charged 24x7? Finding that is the no.1 biggest killer in all of these devices. The good thing about the A9 (compared to the Dysons) is that the battery is much longer than an equivalent V6/7/8 and I unplug it when there's enough charge to use it around the house and only charge when its needed.

I bought another one through this deal.. because we have two of these vacuum sticks around the house (the other one is a V6 which I'm retiring).

  • +1

Does this not have a separate brush for carpets? I only see the equivelant of the dyson hard floors one

    • +2

Comes with the standard head that can be used for hard floors and carpets. But comes with a smaller motorised head unit that turns it into the smaller hand helds to vacuum upholstery, rugs etc. Also comes with the sharp tip for corners and edges and maybe a standard non-motorised smaller head as well from memory.

Much better value than a poverty pack Dyson for sure.

  • +2

Stacked MCEXTRA10 with STUDENTB20 to get it for 152.99.

  • STUDENTB20 doesn't work for me. Any clue guys?

    • +1

need to go through student beans, doesn't work like a usual code

  • Good for maintenance sucking. Not powerful enough for major sucking.

  • How does this compare to my V9 from 2020?

  • +2

If the replacement battery is around $120 - it makes it hard to justify buying another battery when the unit itself is $155

    • Read above, some people fine with it for 3 years, some not so lucky

    • +2

Make sure you only charge it when battery is out and not have it in the mains 24x7. I'm very sure that is the main reason why the batteries don't last very long - no matter Viomi or Dyson. Overcharging severely reduces the lifespan / capacity of any battery.

  • Thanks OP :)

  • Forget this when I can get a Dyson zone for $1000.

    https://www.dyson.com.au/newsroom/updates/dyson-zone-announc…

    • Wow, imagine being seen in public with one of those

  • Can anyone with pets provide feedback on these? Dog hair has killed my last few cleaners.

  • Thanks OP! Have ordered to parcel locker. But it probably won't fit?

  • It does not state what type of battery it is. Don't bother if it's not lithium ion as the one I bought was not lithium and battery goes flat within a month when not in use.

  • Picked one up, thanks to all who left their .02 comparing them to dyson.

  • Aarrh; I just received my second one bought $199. I returned the first one because battery was deffective ( will not hold charge anymore, 5 lights of death).

  • +1

its not bad for the price, the only thing i don't like is the wall mount doesn't charge like others, you have to plug the cable into the unit separately.

  • THank you. Our Dyson V6 just died after its aftermarket battery was replaced. Time for a new one

    • +1

The original batteries direct from Dyson aren't that expensive. Onto my second for V6 and it's going great. No need to waste a perfectly good vac just because this is cheap

  • +1

I have been saving/spending so much lately thanks to OzB…

    • saving/spending

we call that yin and yang…

  • mine lasted only for about 6 months, then the suction got very weak, cleaned the head but still not good, I would not recommand.

    • Did you remove and thoroughly wash/dry any washable filters ? That fixed the issue whenever my Dyson or Dreame stick-vacs lost suction.

  • Just upgraded to Dyson Gen5 after a year of using this poor quality rubbish. I know it was cheap so I couldn’t ask for much but the battery just couldn’t last! It couldn’t even pick up hair on the carpet. Even on hard floors, it leaves the floor still dusty so when I mop, the dust accumulated on the mopping pad so much that I had to wash the mopping pad multiple times in 1 clean. So annoying. Couldn’t stand this anymore so decided to spend a lot this time and I hope the new Dyson will do a better job. Finger crossed.

  • I just opened mine today and it's not starting or charging any thought on how it can be fixed? Lights flash and then turn off when trying to charge

  • This or the Kmart?
    https://www.kmart.com.au/product/cordless-stick-vacuum-clean…

I've been reading some pretty bad reviews about the Viomi A9, while for the Kmart one, most of the bad reviews are basically "suction isn't as good as a Dyson" (well, no sh*t!)
