Was on the lookout for an Apple Watch Ultra before I fly overseas and claim the GST back, so this seems like a pretty decent deal.

Just be aware that Wireless1 will not help you with any warranty under ACL.
They will stick with the manufacturer warranty period (and point you to manufacturer) and then refuse to help you.
I've raised a case with NSW Fair Trading, but they are swamped at the moment.
    This is my experience, YMMV.

normally i would say thats ***** , but as long as the apple stock is australian stock i would prefer to just go direct with apple anyway.

Thank you for pointing out how **** this place is with dealing with warranty tho

      • +2

Yep Apple will honour any issues, I would head straight to Genius bar

      • But would apple pricematch this?

        • +1

no - as in buy it from here by all means after you verify it is indeed authentic Apple Aus stock, then if any issues take your proof of purchase directly to apple.

it would be the same process as buying from jb, hn, mobileciti etc

Great that your brought it to NSW Fair Trading's attention. The more people report such practices, the less BS we experience.

      • lots of people have reported ebay price jacking fake discount
but seems like ACCC can't or won't do anything about this

Costco $1,199.99 Apple Watch Ultra GPS + Cellular 49mm Titanium Case with Alpine Loop
    Office works price beat $1,139.99
I trust these two stores more.

    • Will Officeworks price match Costco?
Not sure since Costco requires you to pay a membership fee.

      • +1

I remember doing it a few times already.

          • +3

@neolivz: Just paid for an ugly orange one for $1,139.99 with officeworks
Not to prove you wrong but I was meaning to upgrade my watch anyway.
Plus going overseas in few weeks.

            • @mr chow: pricebeat costco?

Plus going overseas in few week

so can you claim tax back?
              and how much?

              • @pinkybrain: What every duty is, its less then 10%.
A Price Beat entitles you to a Tax Invoice regardless of price.

                • @mr chow: don't understand what you said..

are you claiming back duty free or something?
and how much will be final cost you pay?

                  • @pinkybrain: So I used the Costco Price $1,199.99
Called up Officeworks who price beat Costco by 5% so I paid $1,139.99
When I go overseas I can claim duty free approx 10% back so the cost for the watch would be about $1,025.99

                    • @mr chow: ok got it..

if you bring the item back into australia do you get charge GST?
Also is there something about a $900 limit of purchase items declaration etc?

                      • @pinkybrain: Yes there is a rule about that, but for some reason they never pull you up on it.
I guess they don't really track it I suppose. Particularly when its out of the box and using it like I would be doing wearing it while I do some snorkelling.

Bought this when I start my new year's resolution to run Sydney marathon this year. This has been my partner since. From someone who can't run and now running 5km at 24mins. Doing my 20k+ runs once a week. Finally, I can justify my $$$ was worth. BTW, 93kgs down to 75kgs.

Bought several cheap same look straps and been doing well with the heavy sweats.

I also have the 6s Sapphire and I find it boring to use.

Edit: Hope to see Ozbar runners this Sunday for the HOKA Half Mar

    • This is amazing mate (not the watch, your journey), that’s an awesome pace for 5km! Well done and keep it up!

    • 93kgs down to 75kgs.

Danggggg thats impressive, good on ya mate

    • +1

Good on ya. That's an impressive weight loss. I agree, Apple Watch is really handy at keeping your fitness goals in check. I am on Series 6 and the ring motivates me to try and close it everyday. At one point I was doing 90 days non stop of 1 hour exercise a day. Then I had to pull myself a bit and have 1 rest day a week as I'm getting a bit obsessed with it all. 86kgs down to 73kgs.

I do want to get an Ultra, but tbh all the functionality I need is available in the one I have right now. But always tempted to get one. Maybe when I travel overseas so I can claim GST. Keen to hear from you though what you think is the real practical benefit for you in Ultra over the 6s?

  • +2

As much as I really love to wear one I was not able to convince myself that I need to spend $1k+ on a watch. I am still using my Series 2 with no dramas, yes it is ssssllllooowwww but does the job.

    • +1

I think it would look good on you

if you want to flirt with @harrysab, do it privately

    • +2

Yeah it's insane for an apple watch

  • I shouldn't be surprised that Apple released a $1300 watch

    • The Pro Stand alone for the Pro Display XDR costs $1700. =P
