After posting a similar deal earlier today I thought I'd go looking for OzB's favourite Dell monitor to see if any of the well-known coupons still worked. Surprisingly, the AUAFFILIATES5 still works by adding a '%' on the end of it, which brings this monitor down to $561.21. It's been cheaper before but it's $28 less than the Lenovo I posted earlier, however it does lack USB-C connectivity.

Edit: thanks to kanu666 who confirmed that with a Unidays coupon you can get 7% off, which brings it down to $550.37.

Quick specs:

  • 34" Curved (1800R)
  • WQHD 3440 x 1440 (DisplayPort: 144 Hz, HDMI: 100 Hz)
  • AMD FreeSync™ Premium Pro Technology
  • 2 ms (grey-to-grey); 1 ms (MPRT)
  • 2 x HDMI, DisplayPort 1.4, USB 3.2 Gen 1 upstream, 3 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 downstream, USB 3.2 Gen 1 downstream with Battery Charging 1.2, Audio line-out

  • This or the Gigabyte G34WQC?

I've got the Gigabyte - there is a known annoying issue with being unable to change any settings whilst in HDR mode, and the screen is much slower to wake/start up than my side Dell's (also QHD, but not Wide - triple monitor setup). I don't know what this Dell is like in those areas.

Stats wise, I can see the Gigabyte has better sRGB if that's important to you, but the Dell has better brightness.

I like my Gigabyte - don't get me wrong, it's a great monitor - but I'm not attached to it as it's not perfect and if I needed a new one, I'd be happy to try something else.

      • Thanks for the insights. Been looking for a 34" curved monitor. I might just go with the Dell after reading and watching all the reviews.

    • i got this dell one a few months ago on sale, it was the best decision. fantastic monitor for the price. this clears the gigabyte for sure

  • Why are the Curved screens a bargain. Been on the lookout for a 32inch monitor for everyday use and decent ports 😊

I feel like 32 16:9 is a better screen size. Little less width little more height and you are still running a standard aspect ratio so less problems.

If you stare at large spreadsheets all day long then the 34” really lends itself well to the task. The extra width means you can see more data columns - scrolling up & down through rows is simple with a decent mouse but scrolling side-to-side can be painful.

      • Yep - I bought this monitor and the 34" Ultrawide format has been a game changer for me when working on large spreadsheets. Being able to see 50+ columns one the single screen is incredible useful.

Bought this a few months ago, first one had a few colour dead pixels so got a replacement (which was refurbished). The refurbished had even more dead pixels so I requested I get a new one or else a refund. Lucky third one was perfect.

Hit and miss with the monitor but dell support was top notch!

  • Would this be an upgrade from a Xiaomi Curved Gaming Monitor 34?

    • Yes, but you should be looking beyond that, though the next big leap in the ultrawide world is too expensive right now ($1300).

If you want a substantial gaming upgrade, shift back to 16:9 monitor setups.

      • In the market for monitors and that leap is really annoying me haha. I want a 38" 21:9 but seems like the entry level is $1300 and I don't want to spend that much for an entry level…

I don't really like 34 ultrawide because I want a bit more height. I think 32" is my best option right now, but want to go bigger just can't afford :(

        • I'd rather just get a good primary and a good secondary myself. If I want visual immersion for gaming, a VR headset or a TV is the better buy over the long term.

I went from this to a xiaomi 34 ultrawide, haven't noticed any difference in performance and prefer the look of the xiaomi over this one. Also do keep in mind I got my xiaomi for about $100 less than this.

    • Also to add on, another reason I prefer the xiaomi is because of the wire management on the xiaomi, basically hides all the wires under a panel on the monitor so it's more neat.

Bought 6 months ago, happy with it.

  • Has anyone tried to see if AUAFFILIATES5% code stacks with K-12 code?

    • I'd be interested in that, too, but I'm not a student nor do I have any students in my household so I can't wangle an ID to use.

      • +1

        but I'm not a student

Neither am I. There are instructions from doweyy to get K-12 discount code in an earlier post. I haven't tried though.

        • +1

Just tried it, gives an extra 2% off the price.

          • @glada: Thanks glada. Hopefully there are better EOFY deals next month.

    • it is not

  • Anyone know if this stacks with student discount?

    • Tried and it doesn't.

  • Only thing holding me back is the reports of black smearing in dark scenes. Anyone with this monitor can provide their feedback especially for FPS games like warzone?

  • Not good. Bought it for under $500 2 years ago. Should be much lower for a monitor with a va panel

  • +1

    It's been $503 before… I'd wait

    • That's what everyone said about the mi going sub $400

  • Can anyone recommend a good monitor arm for this?

  • Unidays give 7% instead of 5% with this code

    • Can you confirm it works with this monitor? I checked the Unidays website and it says '7% off on select items' for Dell.

      • yes, works for me.
But keep in mind this monitor was way cheaper earlier

        • +2

Thanks for confirming, I'll update the post. Agreed it's been cheaper, and may even go down soon with EOFY sales, but if you're in the market for one right now this is a pretty good deal.

  • Wait and hope it becomes cheaper or buy now… Anything better?

    • Depends on what you're looking for. I personally would want USB-C connectivity so this Lenovo model is better IMO. This AOC model has had excellent reviews online and is less expensive again. If you're prepared to spend a lot more this Alienware might become cheaper again in the EOFY sales.

Bought a 6 month old one of these from a working from home lady a few months ago for $350. great monitor
A bit blue tinged colour temp out of the box, fixed with calibration with Dsiplay Plus calibrator and free DisplayCal software
Recommend knocking the blue channel down 5-10 in the monitor OSD

    Really bright monitor.
HDR works well in movies, youtube and gaming
