Been waiting a while but this finally makes my chainsaw purchase worthwhile. Thanks!

  • Cheaper battery set with free trimmer, great for the $25 chainsaw a while ago.

  • @edrift did you ever get a battery conversion working?

    • Would also like to know how it went, anyone hack the battery

    • +2

seems like a hard job, I had the saw too and after a few primitive attempts with arduino couldn't get anything better. In the end I just got a cheap deal from gumtree and now got the saw working like a charm. If I have an oscilloscope I'd give out a hand on snipping out the code but unfortunately no.

    • Nah no luck. I ended up giving the chainsaw away

      • Ah that's a shame. I convinced work to buy this kit, i'll bring in my chainsaw skin, win win

  • How is it compare to Ryobi 18V available for $99?

  • +2

    40v x 4ah = 160wh

    Vs the norm

    18v x 4ah = 72wh

Equivalent to an approx 9.0ah 18v battery.

    Not bad!!

    • Sure this isnt the same as the 18v vs 20v thing just doubled? As in both 18v and 20v systems are just 5 cell packs, the 20v just being a kind of dodgy way of measuring voltage.

40v sounds like it probably should be called 36v. 144wh or 2x the standard 72wh pack.

Equiv of an 8ah 18v pack. Still a good deal either way.

      • Interestingly the manual does say

Nominal voltage of product with battery 40 V d.c

Not sure on the actual number of cells etc

  • Excellent thanks. Spare battery for my mower!

    • Is Yard Force lawn mower any good? Can't decide whether to buy this or Ozito.

      • Haven't tried the ozito but the the yard force works well for my suburban duties

  • Bought, thanks.

  • Would be great if Bunnings does a price match again like they did with the chainsaw trimmer
    Ryobi 36v Hedge Trimmer Kit 4amp https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-36v-hp-65cm-4-0ah-brushles…

  • I clicked on the link, took a while to sign in, now when I go to purchase it appears to be back to $279?!

    • Ah dang, sure enough it's back to the regular price.

I've marked it as expired now.
