    Too cool

  • Idk if anyone bought this since last time it was posted on here.

    Reviews don't look good

I have one of these, it's fine, not the best edge retention in the world but what do you expect for $10. Sharpens easily so not really an issue.

    • Do you think it's legit X50CrMoV15?

      • +2

I guarantee you that for $10 delivered, no faceless Chinese seller would ever lie about what you're getting.

On this specific point, x50 can vary widely in hardness, so even if it's soft, you can't really tell.

Do you think I know about knife steel quality if I'm buying $10 knives? No idea. It cuts, it sharpens well. It doesn't rust in the dishwasher. That's about all I can tell you.

        • +1

Most of these knife nerds going on about steel type prob don't even know how to breakdown a chook or jullienne a carrot.

    • Received mine yesterday. Handle is nice. Blade stayed sharp after prepping a meal, didn't need to hone. I'd say this a pretty good alternative to a Victorinox 20-25cm Fibrox.

    "Dishwasher-Safe" like all good knives

    • I own a lot of Victorinox Fibrox butchering/filletting knives and chuck them in the dishwasher. Are they "good" knives?

      • +1

Depends on your definition of "good" I guess

        • What's your definition of "good"?

          • @rosebank: A good knife is one that you can pull out and say, "That's not a knife…. that's a knife."

            • @damfrog: I use a Chinese cleaver 90% of the time. There's one on Amazon for $30, I'll post it and OzB can tell me if it's good

              • +2

@rosebank: "That's not a knife… that's a cleaver." Doesn't pass the knife test. It might pass the cleaver test.

          • +1

@rosebank: Fit for purpose is my definition of "good"

My purpose being I want a screamingly sharp knife that I don't have to sharpen often and will allow me to chop quickly.

That would take into account metallurgy and also blade profile.

They are good for most people but I am a discerning knife user

Anyone know how these compare to kmart knives?

    • I don't have this but kmart looks better to me. Nothing negative against kmart knife in the last 3 years I've had it for

  • +2

Good cheap knife = Kiwi Knife.

    • Love Kiwi, but they not as good as they used to be. And the handles get loose after a few rounds in the dishwasher.

  • Is this the Comedy channel? You NEVER put good knives in the f*****g dishwasher!
