½ Price: Ice Break Flavoured Milk 500mL $1.97

This used to be the regular special price for 5-600ml Flavoured Milks.

    Inflation still ticking up.

    • +2

Ehh when was this? Its $1.90 in NSW half price and I can't ever remember it being this cheap normally. Was $3.35 in 2021. This is an iced coffee not just an Oak milk btw.

Inflation is definitely ticking up on a lot of things but these have only moved 45c in 3 years. Feel that's fair.

fkn john west jacked 10c again

Wild Tides price jacked another 15c

    • +1

      Coles/Woolies brand jacked up 20c

      and wasn't cup-a-soup $1.10 just a month ago?

hard to get excited about these specials any more, but thanks for compiling it anyway, OP. at least we have a record of all these increases

      • +3

I hadn't thought of it that way. I'm creating a record of our descent (ascent?) into inflation hell.

        • +3

The ascent into Mt Inflation Doom …

  • +3

    That's just getting ridiculous now…..

  • +2

Wild Tides Tuna is up too. Half-price was $1.10 a couple of weeks ago.

    • +1

I won't be buying it anymore. The Coles brand lemon tuna is superior.

  • +3

Half prices are the original prices. Rarely ever do I feel like I'm getting a good bargain when shopping for food these days.

    • +1

yep. 90% off markdowns are my life these days.

      • Whats the best time for markdowns. Haven't seen any for ages…

        • +1

really depends on your store and the department manager. at my local, the markdowns guy is like clockwork most of the time and i frequently see the same people waiting for him lol

at another store i go to, it's more unpredictable - there's a 1-1.5 window where they'll do markdowns. and then it's not always 90% off.

          • @tdw: What times.. days roughly?

Trying to get some data of all stores.
Tried 11am- 9pm at my local Coles/ Woolies.. nothing..

Maybe 830pm for a rare cheaper hot chook.

Maybe first thing in the morning?

        • One store I go to they mark down fruit and veg from 2.30ish pm by 60-80% but other stores a lot less. The meat, cheeses, and cakes they seem to do around 6 pm. There are a lot less markdowns since Covid maybe because there is less stock of so many things.

        • Will depend on what you're after and where you're shopping.
My local Coles marks down ready meals at 9:30am (and then again in the evening if necessary), fresh produce around 3pm, meat around 6:30pm. Not sure when bakery's done because it's so rare something needing to be marked down there.

Woolies is a hell of a lot easier to know at your local, look at the time printed on the markdown stickers.

          • @pennypincher98: Haven't seen any mark downs.of any kind in ages..sign of the times.

          • @pennypincher98:

Woolies is a hell of a lot easier to know at your local, look at the time printed on the markdown stickers.

Haha yes, about the only thing I like about Woolies more than Coles

      • +2

I love when I find those types of markdowns. I will stock up when I see them.

  • Are the squid chips any good or are like strips of rubber

    • Not telling - might be less for me then to put in the air fryer.

    • I got them last time on special. I didnt mind them. Just use some tartare sauce or something and its decent.

    • Tried them in the air fryer, my s.o and i think they're pretty rubbery. 3/10

    • +1

they are bland as hell, and then the moment you put sauce on them it covers the original taste (not that there was much squid flavour to begin with) and all you taste is sauce on batter. Seasoning/salt didn't make it too much better. I found the texture ok though? I had it at a friends also and they deep fried it (I airfry at home) and it was far better, but I can't always do that. Maybe worth buying once and trying

  • Anyone else notice Pepsi Max 30pks have gone up to $29

The raincheck I still have for 4 at $18 each are like gold now.

    • Do coles or woolies do rainchecks now? I know woolies still wasnt doing them last time i asked

      • +4

        Coles does rainchecks, Woolies doesn't

  • +3

lots of inflation this week from duopoly. time for ACCC to step up and step in!!!

    • +3

Afaik the ACCC doesn't actually have the power to do much without the federal government's approval. The Greens are wanting to change this so the ACCC is actually free to do as it wants.

  • +1

saw a kid in grade 4 at my kids school drinking Ice Break this morning.. granted its more sugar than caffeine, but was pretty shocking to see it

    • +1

Probably more socially acceptable to be downing an iced coffee than an energy drink. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    • Ice breaks are normally double shots but the extra shot (same price!) has 240mg caffeine, more than a 500ml energy drink (160mg) but because it's classified "flavoured milk" it doesn't need any warnings or is subject to the same legal maximum caffeine concentration in Australia (32g/100ml).

But society views it as just sugary milk so it stays xD

      • I went to drink a 'Hunt and Brew' 400mL the other day - 250mg of caffeine! I had to drink half and leave the rest for the next day… I want at least 750mL milk with that kind of caffeine haha

    • Surprised it wasn't a Prime or are kids over that drink already?
