  • Sorry to be a noob but if I'm already on this with Kogan can I buy it again now and extend it? Or does it only work if my current one has expired?

    • +2

You can use it, but it will totally replace your plan (i.e. your current plan will be wiped and the new plan will begin immediately).

You cannot stack Kogan Mobile plans like you are suggesting.

      • +1

Mine ends in 49 days. So shouldn't be a problem waiting until that time to apply it.

I assume this is ok with existing customers.

        • +2

I buy this every year. Keep in mind there is an expiry on the voucher they email you. I think once I contacted support and lamented about missing the date and they reissued me, but not a guarantee.

Last year I bought on 26/06/2022, voucher had an expiry of 31/07/2022

Also it was 50% off at $150, 500GB,. So might wait to see if they drop further closer to eofy

          • @jabe: Yes, actually I'm pretty sure I bought the $1500 at 500gb as well..

Thats what I'm banking on. But my current one ends early July.

          • @jabe: Yeah I had a voucher expire by a few days before, they were happy to give me a new one.

          • @jabe: Also got that one for $150. I say HODL (not financial advice).

    • I'm confused it mentions it can't be used for subsequent recharges is that because it just replaces the original plan? Already a Kogan member also and have recharged multiple times but not seen this before

      • +1

It just means the discount is not guaranteed on subsequent recharges if you don't hunt for discounted Kogan Mobile vouchers like this.

If you were an everyday dum dum and just left it on auto recharge, it would charge you at the undiscounted base rate.

Sounds pretty fair to people like us, but that sentence is probably for legal arse covering because an everyday dum dum might get upset they don't get to keep the discounted price forever with zero future effort.

        • Thanks heaps that makes sense

        • How do you recharge with this if you are already on the same kogan plan. Do you enter a code or activate it from scratch as if you don't have a sim card already aka put in the new sim card and port from kogan to kogan sorry I'm just trying to figure out how one would use this deal if you are already on kogan or do you need to port out then port back in. Thanks in advance.

          • @AlienC: Log into the Kogan Mobile account portal and there's a menu item on the left for recharging.

It's as simple as that. You can keep your existing SIM, there's no need to mail another one, etc, etc.

As I said above, this wipes your existing plan and starts the new one immediately. You cannot stack Kogan Mobile plans.

The only ones you have to watch out for are the ones that explicitly state they are for new customers.

            https://www.kogan.com/au/shop/category/prepaid-plans/

The 80 gig monthly plan at the bottom says the offer is for new customers only. If you choose the "I am an existing customer" option in the dropdown, you'll see the price increase by $15.

So they do let existing customers onto the plan if they really want to, just not the introductory offers.

The other plans are for everyone, though I would stick to just the 1 year prepaid ones, not the monthly ones, and only when they're on sale.

Generally Kogan Mobile will put something to tell people it is for new customers in the title or one of the graphics on the listing.

It's also worth noting that you cannot immediately port back in after porting out of Kogan Mobile. There's a 30-something day limit on when you can come back in. I've never tested it myself, so I don't know exactly how many days it is, but it is around 1 month.

Good value for just the data…

  • +3

Unless you really need that much data, amaysim half price for 12 month is a much better deal

    • I concur

      • Is there only 1 12 month option?

        • there's 2 I believe

        • 1 day short of 12 months, Next year is a leap year - 366 days.

    • yep i'm on the kogan deal now from last year $130ish for 500GB, but the deprioritisation of traffic and service is horrible -> irrespective of the bars of signal. This is coming from a Telstra 5G plan in the past.
Off to Amaysim! I used them in the past and they are OK compared to the primary provider Optus at the time (2012). Hopefully not much different now

      • Agree. I'm on the same kogan plan and the network is terrible. Will not go back to kogan regardless of the price.

  • This or woolies with 10% off shop/month?

    • woolies 10% off come with minimum spending?

  • +1

last year' deal for 500GB is $150

    • +1

That'll come back, if not for single purchase, then in a 2 for 1 deal.

      • Dunno mate, cant see the price of bread coming down in a hurry… Inflation bites…

    • Bought last year for $165 in the Christmas deal they were running. Maybe if you can wait then Christmas may be cheaper again???

      • my current kogan mobile plan will be expired this June

        • Bugger - you can't wait then :)

  • Voucher must be purchased by 11:59pm AEST on 11/06/2023. Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEST on 30/06/2023.

    • That's not a very long expiry

      • That's pretty normal for these deals, giving you to the end of the next month.

        • Devo, last time we got 2 months.

  • +1

They must know my 365-day plan from last year is nearing expiry. Time to top up.

  • Does anyone know if they offer 5G on this plan? I have it but no avail, keen to hear others experiences…

    • +1

It was supposed to be included in the plan but they sneakily withdrew it. It was on the offer page when i purchased the buy 1 get 1 offer.
Then did not work on activation so i called them. The next day it disappeared miraculously. I wish i had taken screen shots.
      Still filthy about this.

  • I'm confused it mentions it can't be used for subsequent recharges is that because it just replaces the original plan? Already a Kogan member also and have recharged multiple times but not seen this before

    • +1

Exactly what it says, it will replace your current plan. I normally recharge the day after mine expired.

      • Thanks heaps

  • +1

    Good price
Pity the vodafone network is still crap :(
    Im heading back to boost

    • +1

Agree, Vodaphone the couple times that I’ve tried it was trash

  • Damn paid $309 for the 500gb at the start of this year. This is a pretty good deal.

Hoping they repeat this deal at the start of next year.

  • +2

    • I Have on on classifieds can get rid of for $150
