    Ars tools are brilliant.

    Very good deal.

    • Havent heard of this brand before, is it comparable with the Felco pruners? I know that some good Japanese knives/shears brands are a bit of a niche in the international market.

      • +2

Apparently the reviews on Amazon say they're better than Felco

        • +2

Well I guess in that case it worths a try for just $30+, basically the cost of a pair of crappy no name pruners at Bunnings.

      • I don't know about this but for me Felco isn't worth $100, compared to $30 pruners which I also got from bunnings. Maybe they were good decades ago, now others catched up on quality.

        • I think Felco is good in its extensive range catering to different hand sizes and the rotating handle on certain models is also pretty neat. Absolutely not the best value for money, but a time saver knowing you will be getting a good pair of pruners without having to read reviews and risk with less well known brands.

I run a garden business. All our hand tools are ARS.
Top quality and good value. I've been using them for years.

    • Up the Ars!

  • +3

Thanks! Thought they were OOS already but it was hiding under the “See All Buying Options” button.
    Cheers.

It's been this way for all of the Amazon JP items. Keep refreshing, going back and forth and it should appear again. Something very strange is going on with all of the links from Japan.

  • +2

Is it good enough for bamboo

    • +2

As a person that pruned a 3x2 clump, I would advise against using non-powered tools. The time you save will be more than worth it.

  • +6

I paid $86 for these earlier in the year. Don’t think twice, fantastic tools that should last for life and fully repairable. If you buy two, you can use one for spare parts.

The 8Z is for normal sized hands so likely the best bet for most.

  • Said OOS and refresh and OK and bought it.

  • I bought 2 after seeing it back in stock.

    • For some reason keep refreshing it will come back.

  • Thanks OP. Purchased one of each.

  • +7

Thanks OP, also grabbed the ARS Needle Nose Pruners for $11.

    • Also cleaned up buying their scissors and fruit pruners. Wont be long before Japanese, Swiss and German made garden tools become history

      • Why are they going to become history?

        • They won't. There is always going to be a market for quality.

@gakko: I know, I was just hoping for a good ol' conspiracy theory

  • somehow i kept getting failed to add to cart for the smaller one. OOS again?

I just successfully ordered the HP-VS8Z model

      • +1

Thank you! Managed to order the VS8Z model too now after I saw your comment.

  • Thanks for that… ordered one. Likely a bit cheaper than replacement blades for the venerable old felco.

    Time will tell.

  • +1

Thanks OP. Order now asked later LOL

  • Thanks OP.

  • Thanks OP, also grabbed the ARS HP-310 Curved Blade Fruit Pruner for $11

  • +5

Thanks OP. I also bought the folding saw to be eligible for free prime shipping.

to be eligible for free prime shipping.

Prime already have free shipping for me.

      • My bad - should have mentioned I didn’t have prime. Amazon want $10 a month now to sign back up… used to be 6 or 7!

    • +1

Thanks. Got the saw after checking out the link.

  • +3

Thanks, bought the 8" one. Not sure why I bought it… I hate gardening and usually just nuke everything with the hedge trimmer once its overgrown.

  • +1

Thank you. Good gift for wife.

  • Didnt need the gardening gear but searched the brand and found this set of general purpose indoor snips: https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B001VB1IPI/ref=ppx_yo_d… great deal perhaps? Got some.

    • Nice one. Me too. Now to go find me some goat hooves

      • Haha. Did seem to be a popular use.

  • +1

    ARS Pruners. Hmm…..

  • +4

I haven't touched my garden for months, but now suddenly found myself spending my Saturday morning busy researching and buying ARS gardening tools.

    Edited:
And now the Bosch stuff as well.

  • I already have the Bosch but at this price… I may get into trouble.

  • +2
    • Thanks. Got this too. Have ordered 4 ARS tools this morning - better stop now!

    • Hmm, that or a ratchet or geared lopper?

  • We use f2 daily and a quick spritz with Stihl superclean keeps them in good shape for a very very long time.

  • Can't seem to get the ARS HP-VS7Z to come up for that price. Maybe out of stock?

Clicking see all buying options shows them from $103 plus shipping?

Anyone else manage to grab them?

No issues with the ARS HP-VS8Z though.

    • +1

I managed to get one for the wife before it went out of stock it seems.

  • Been trying for a while for the ARS HP-VS7Z with no success, most likely out of stock

    • Good to know it's not just me then, looks like I'm getting the ARS HP-VS8Z in that case.

  • The 7" model is now OOS on amazon japan (you can check by changing the url from .com.au to .co.jp and setting a japanese delivery postcode (like 100-0004).

  • What's the difference between the two?

    • One pair is more compact than the other. Pretty much it.

I wanted the smaller size so both myself and the Mrs can use them.

      • Got it. Just ordered the only one available which is the big one. Hopefully not too big

  • I bought the Japanese ones 10 months ago, Okatsune 101 7-inch Bypass Pruners Small, 40 bucks cant go wrong.

  • +1

unable to buy the 8inch as well,

    • Seems to be back again.

  • +1

Glitches out when I try to add to cart

  • No go for the 8”

We're writing to inform you that your order has been cancelled by Amazon Japan. We' re sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. You will be refunded within 3-5 business days.

  • FYI, the ARS HP-VS8Z drops the price to $32.39. After I added it to the cart and checkout, and want to update the post, the Amazon JP's $32.39 option disappeared. I keep the post as is, but OzBargainers can keep coming back and check, as the Amazon JP listing comes and goes intermittently.

  • Confusing??? 8"inch seems to be available at a very very slightly cheaper price, purchased just now and received email confirmation of order placed (didn't try for 7" once 8" inch immediately came up) - nil delivery for Prime member confirmed

  • Does anyone know good sharpener for those tools?

    • This one from felco is excellent, but fairly expensive at $42, I've seen it for as little as $30. https://www.amazon.com.au/Sharpener-Diamond-Hardened-Sharpen…

I've been using it for 2-3 years with no change in effectiveness. If you do go for something cheaper, stay away from the carbide pull-through style, they're too aggressive at removing material.

      • Thx mate. Will give it a try.

  • +1
    • Thanks OzKap,

      Managed to grab one!

  • Both of us ordered on Saturday, but a friend in Lidcombe has just received his 8" pruner and mine is not even shipped with arrival from 11-21 June according to the app. He ordered it a few hours early on Sat. probably before it was ozbargained.
