  • Keen to know if anyone on Telstra Prepaid was able to receiving incoming SMS for free while overseas

    • +3

Yes. Using from 5 years and receive sms while was in India multiple times

      • Oh was it on wifi?

        • +1

No. I had sim running as I have a dual sim phone

          • @hopper: Yeah that's why having esim is convenient for this reason.

    • +2

Yes can receive call and text free and can make call back to Aus free over wifi.

  • Nice offer. But jumped into latest amaysim offer

    • Haha I ended up getting that as well. Already on amaysim, but bargained on chat as others have and got it down to 50% off. Thought I'd share this anyway for people who prefer Telstra

      • can you share which deal you are referring to? about to port 3 family members out to boost, so keen to see other alternatives

          • @chankaran: ah i see thanks

damn thats a great deal. shame its optus network tho

whats the whats the bargaining youre doing on chat? isnt it already 50% off, do you need to negotiate it?

            • @furythree: Telstra network is unmatched, but too pricy for me to justify my use of their expansive network on the rare occasions.

I'm already with Amaysim and apparently this offer is only for "new" customers until you have a chat with them

  • 150Mbps download speed cap on 4G and 5G

No better than being on Boost 😦

    • Other than eSim is there any benefit to this over the cheaper Boost?

      • Not for everyone but recent trip to Japan my wife used Telstra international pre paid roaming pack 14 days for $25 5GB local calls and texts. I’m with Boost and their roaming pack was $40 for 14days.

        • But the boost same pack comes in at $164 currently so could work that into the price difference but depends how much you travel so good options either way

          • +1

@quikstix: For me though when I recharge it will be $230 with 160GB after July this year. I just noticing Boost is increasing the price over the years. I don’t see them as good value as used to be.

          • @quikstix: Can you please share the link Boost for $164? Thanks

        • Couldn't you just have added a local Sim for data and used vowifi for calls to/from your Australian number?

          • +1

@Bruceflix: I’ve been doing that for a while when I go to Japan but data SIM from eBay or in Japan are around same price or more expensive if you think about ease of no swapping SIM.
As I said not for everyone I’m originally from Japan and I find making and receiving calls straight out of my phone makes it simple and easy.

wish they would discount $300 topups

  • +1

Pity no good recharge deals to continue subscription on Telstra. May have to switch to Amaisym.

  • +2

OP please add this to the description, taken from the eBay listing itself:

    Activation expiry date circa 10/2024
Receive 50GB bonus data if activate by 3/7/2023

    • adding, thanks

  • Can it be activated after 3 months and still avail the same data ?

  • They are increasing prices from June. So stock of you want it

  • +1

same plan seems to be available for AU $173.25 at below link.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/155561959233

    • Still available, seems too cheap but I pulled the trigger. Store feedback is all about shoes too which doesn't fill me with confidence.

      • how was it

        • Still tracking the shipping, haven't received yet.

        • Seems it was too good to be true. Received a toothpick instead.

          • @bym: $173 toothpick. sounds kinda expenny

            • @AH: Haha hard to tell with inflation and all I guess. Started the eBay return process to get refunded. eBay have been good about it so far.

  • the PWESNS code seems to have expired?

  • the service of swithcing to eSIM for Telstra sucks
