          • @Elitebhy: The times are out. Mine is showing 12 hours behind. I'm in Perth. Bought a $250 gc this morning and I used. Card was activated at the time of purchase

            • @trixieb: Yep apparently they are in Georgia, whoever issued the card.

              • +1

@Elitebhy: sorry to hear about the issues you are having…it does sound like another Ozbargainer's purchases…

            • +1

@trixieb: the time stamp has updated again after it changed from pending status.

              • @tofu: Can you cancel the transactions and use the card again? That might cause the other user's PayPal account being blacklisted.

                • @fatice:

Can you cancel the transactions and use the card again

WTF! End user can't cancel a pending transaction. They can only lodge a dispute once it settles.
That process takes forever with Heritage Bank, almost as if they don't care anymore as they get so many disputes.

    • How are they able to hack the number and the pin? Seems impossible.

    • same thing happened to me. I received one yesterday around 3:10pm. When I opened up at 7pm, it has been used to pay for Trinity Grammar at 2:54am.

  • probably they bought one to guess as well, that's why I stayed up to 2pm early morning to use one $250 up, I only bought one for the safety, have to be quick.

  • -1

Can Amazon gc be purchased with these?

  • Does anyone know if we can make multiple payments to make up the total bill for Sydney Waters?

    • +2

yep…just make your payment..and keep making whatever payments you want afterwards….your account can be in credit…they don't care if you make multiple payments…i've paid my water in advance.

      • +3

thank you!!! sorry I’ve never paid a bill before but now I know we can do this. just helping out my family

      • Thank you! Did not know we could pay Sydney Water in advance. Is there a limit for the credit balance? Only pay around $200 a quarter for water but I am thinking about pre paying $1000?

        • +1

No particular limit that i'm aware of. Im sure Sydney Water would be happy to hold your extra cash. However if you have a choice, I would consider paying things like council rates, health insurance , electricity or gas in advance as well.

  • Can you use this to pay for uber rides and flights (Virgin Australia)?

    • You can pay for anything that accepts mastercard online

      • I tried Chemist Warehouse and they rejected the card. Tried with two different cards. No issue when I bought the gift card via Shopback.

        • Atleast I as able to put Coles and Woolies at 4% so I am pretty happy with that

  • Westpac & Ubank don't work

    • The banks may have blocked the transactions. I had to call a bank yesterday to unblock.

    • westpac cc works.

  • -4

how to use these master cards? Most places are not accepting them

    • +2

      utilities, council rates, land tax.

    • +3

You are making Mastercard sound like it's Diner card

    • Are we live in the same world??

  • Energy Australia payment failed on my 4th payment.

    • +1

Max 3 per day then you need to wait a couple of days to do it again.

  • I used my phone instead of my computer which failed every time, multiple cards. Went through first go. I believe the cause is using phone data = different IP.

    • Been trying on my phone the last 10 times did not work.

      • +2

Mine was failing on the checkout. Silly me had my Brave shields up which must have been blocking something.

  • Was able to purchase one earlier on yesterday. But after that always had errors.

    • Keep trying… i would say its a random luck

  • Is there any delay for the gift card to arrive? which bank is recommend for payment, combank, boq or virgin?

    • +1

3 different orders, all received within minutes.

      • Think giftcard don't want me to buy 😭

      • how many cards did you get?

        • +1

          11 total.

          • @chewieeez: i ordered 10cards at the same time and the gc is not coming yet im worried

        • I only got 1 giftcard.

  • all those comments mentioning 'add value to paypal'… HOW? i linked those GCs but paypal only allows me to add through a bank account. not cards…

    • there is a option to let you choose on the homepage of PayPal, right hand side, add card or bank.

      • -2

can you withdraw funds once you add the value to paypal? via the prepaid card

        • +1

Your not adding the value to Paypal. You are adding the card to Paypal so you can use the card through Paypal.

          • @hellwolf: gotcha.

          • +1

@hellwolf: so those comments saying 'add value to paypal' means linking GCs to paypal not adding money to paypal wallet? which similar to apple account balance

        • +1

I didn't try to cash out just went through,

    • can send to "friend" with surcharge (didn't test coles MC)
Cards (any portion funded) 2.60% + Fixed Fee

      • yeah i thought about that, basically needs to open a 2nd paypal acc, i tried to send it to myself

        • Your account will be limited. Then your money will be locked in that account.

          • @Micky14: oh god

          • @Micky14: Why limited??

            • +1

@capslock janitor: If you create a new account and use it to receive money straight away. It will easily trigger their risk control. Then your new account might get limited. You will need to deal with them to get your money back.

  • Did anyone getting the emails but getting empty contents?
Ordered 10 lot but 5 emails are missing contents!

    • +2

Called customer service and they resent the emails. They are there now.
Surprisingly not too long waiting for the customer service :)

  • Bought 10 yest - used as ATO payment worked fine

Bought another 10 today - 5 didn't work - but will wait tomo based on other comments

    • +1

Yes MyGov has limits, sometimes 10 or 15. Did you try Easypay, can do more there.

      • Do you mean you can load money into my gov account? I do not have any bills to pay.

        • You can pay into your ATO account. Do a word search ATO on this thread for advice on this, click view all first.

    • whats the fee they charge plz, I see 0.2% as well as 0.77%. SO would like to get it clarified. =p

      • +1

        0.2%

    • Ato payment means you have paid your last year due or you pay in advance so that will pay back during

  • +4

Okay used 20 cards was bit paranoid given various bad experiences. Sorted council, health insurance, gift cards, Perez, ato, water, internet.

  • +1

Thanks OP! Cards arrived in a few minutes. So much easier than random visits to Coles looking for discounted physical cards. Accepted by ATO, Revenue ACT rates and land tax and Mitcham (SA) Council rates.

  • +3

Used 2 cards to pay ATO tax bill - worked fine - paid $249.50 to ATO with 50cent surcharge. Nice

    • which website link to pay only charge 50 cents surcharge?

says 0.77% for Mastercard credit payments?

      @Zippy7

      https://www.governmenteasypay.gov.au/payato

      • +1

        This is master debit card

      • +2

@jjj123 it was charged at MC debit card rate 0.20%

        • thanks, done 10 cards

    • Could you pay a surplus into your tax and get that refunded?

      • I think good luck getting it back from ATO in a timely manner :)

      • I got surplus back to my bank from water utility.

  • Thanks OP. Have bought $10k worth of the $250 cards so far, using NAB visa debit. All going towards prepaying ATO for a tax bill that I’m not expecting to receive, so will get a nice return in a month or so 😊

    • FYI this didn’t work for me last year. But hopefully it will be different this year as I’m still hoping to get my money out (only 2k). YYMV

      • +1

        Didn't work as in?

        • +2

Didn’t get the money back as part of my ‘tax refund’. Eg. I put 2k in my tax account, after doing my tax return my tax account was in credit of 7k (2k prepaid +5k tax refund). But I only received the 5k back with my refund. The extra I had put in has just been sitting in the account as credit for more an a year now.

          • @magster: Oh no I did 500 now was not sure as well so didn't go overboard. Did you put a complaint to ATO? Does it show as you overpaid?

            • +1

@ady211: Don’t think I have grounds to make a complaint. I did call (long hold) and they said they may be able to refund back to original cards but not to a bank account. Anyways this was just from my experience last year.

              • @magster: This makes me nervous let's see. I didn't do it for any of the cards as I wasn't sure. But reading lots of comments thought of taking a dip with 2 cards.

              • +1

@magster: Have you thought about getting your employer to stop paying tax on your behalf for the last month of this financial year? This should put you in a position where you need to pay tax and the ato should use the 2k credit that's currently in your account first.

                • +3

@Munners1989: You can get your accountant to request a refund on a credit balance, I have just done so for $13k+ that I overpaid using coles giftcards from the instore promo. You do get interest for money sitting there, but at lower rates than bank interest

                  • @mrfuku: If you do your own tax, do you know if you can do it yourself?

                    • @Munners1989: Only can do it through the business portal yourself, if you run a business

You could always just hire a accountant to send a letter maybe, but not sure if the payoff would be worth it.

                  • @mrfuku: Good to hear so assuming not a big drama just ask via accountant during your tax finalization

                    • @ady211: Yep should be a relatively straightforward process, not sure if having other debt (hecs etc.) affects it though.

                      • @mrfuku: Okay I was worried the amount saved with this deal was going in drain

                  • @mrfuku: How do you claim interest on the amount you prepaid? Does your accountant have to do it? TIA
