Linea Micra Coffee Machine + Mahlkonig X54 Grinder + 12m ST.Ali Orthodox Blend Coffee Subscription $5999 Delivered @ La Marzocco

3710

This is not a deal for everyone and I may be negged into the penalty box for even sharing it.

But for those who want an LM machine - this is an insane offer, the best I’ve ever seen on an LM.

I’ve got the micra myself and would say witho it a doubt there is no benefit that the mini would have over it for the home user. It’s an amazing machine - having come from a rocket Mozzafiato Tipo V and an ECM Elektronika and also a breville barista express.

No it’s not for everyone - and no it’s not cheap. But if you wanted this as an endgame machine for no other reason other than you want an LM, then this is the deal for you.

FYI: Also comes with an accessories kit which is a nice touch - I believe it's the $379 one on the website.

wow. This IS a good deal, like you said if you want a LM then you should be all over this.

How do I hide this from my wife?

    • +1

      My thoughts exactly!

    • +9

a beach towel should cover it. whether or not she investigates is up to the gods

    • +83

Don't tell her you got it from the back of a truck for $50, you might come home one day to her telling you she flipped it on Facebook Marketplace for $200.

      • +33

Sounds like you are speaking from experience

    • +8

Just tell her you won it at work

    • +6

In the butler's pantry, of course

    • +1

get a new credit card. or a new wife!

    • +6

Put on a Breville label, tell her this is the new dual boiler

      • +1

        This is the way

    • +2

First find how to hide yourself when she finds out

      • How about hide your wife instead of hiding the coffee machine or hiding yourself?

    • +3

set it up in the garage and when you say you're going to grab coffee for the both of you, duck out the back and make some? Make sure you use reusable coffee cups ;)

      • then put a sign “specialty coffee - $3.5, ozbargainer pays $1” outside your house to show her that you will make a profit out of this investment. Call all local ozbargainers to come around and buy a cup of coffee off you to demonstrate how realistic the profit could be.

    • Behind the Narwal Self Cleaning Robot Vacuum you just bought her

    • +6

If you could afford this, you'd already know how to hide assets.

Please don’t apologise. If it’s a good deal, it should be posted here.

I don’t think it’s healthy for us on this site to consider certain deals to be for products “too good” for us. We should not take pride in being as cheap as possible.

If there’s value for someone, then it’s a deal worth posting! Thanks for your contribution 😊

    • +5

      Agree. It's Ozbargain, not Oztightwad.

With that said, I don't think I could personally justify the expense - but for those who can, go for it if it's a (relative) bargain.

      • +1

better distinction would be "its ozbargain not ozbroke"

with enough cashrewards savings, you too can save up for a $5000 coffee machine :D

        • I just checked my combined savings from Cashreward and Shopback and it's $2500. I'm already halfway there.

          • @wangsk: thats crazy! what do you buy? mines only about $800 (which shocked me) albeit i havent been using it much last few years

    • +6

I agree.. if anything this is aspirational.. and we deserve to know such things exist

    • +1

Yeah this is still more of a deal than the “free” movies people post are going to the streaming subscription service they already pay for lol

    • +1

Errrr, but it's in the name 'OzBARGAIN'!

Seriously though, I can't agree with you more. There has been an influx of negative members lately and personally it has put me off submitting deals, so I imagine it has had a similar effect on others also.

  • This is actually a great deal! Thanks for the post!

  • +8

    Does it include a barista?

    • +12

it might take a while but in time it will transform you into one 😆

      • If only !

  • +2

If you own LM Linea Micra you probably want something better than X54.

  • Thanks OP. Did you plumb this system?

    • +1

Not sure if they make a plumb in for the Micra yet

    • No I didn’t. I’m currently working away from my home so I bring my micra with me - which doesn’t have an area to plumb in. But may think of doing it when I move back home.

how do i tell my son he has to go to public school because i spent his school fees on a coffee machine …….

i know, i will blame it on school payroll tax not the coffee machine …..

love this machine but will need to keep using the breville i’ll dual boiler :-(

    • The BDB with a couple of mods has end game features. It's just the build quality that's a little lacking…

      • +2

BDB is a great machine, feature-wise you won’t get anything close to it without spending close to 3k. I’m extremely happy with mine + Eureka Mignon Specialita

      • What mods do you recommend?

        • +2

          Slayer mod ;)

        • +1

          I second this please

      • I can do slayer shots on the BDB without any mods. Just turning the hot water on slowly while the shot runs and I can get the bar to drop to 6 after a while as the puck degenerates.

      • And long-term reliability

    • +1

public school for a year can be very motivating

  • +36

sips Dual Boiler coffee with Aldi Beans

    I'm good for now

The price increases on LM gear over the past few years has been insane. I paid $5990 for my Linea Mini ~3 years ago, and they are $8490 now.

That not withstanding, this is a great deal in the current market. Just a shame the included subscription is St Ali rather than something decent ;)

    • +1

I agree. I could maybe stomach paying $6k for a Mini and maybe $4k ish for a Micra new. They certainly do hold their valve used due to the price increases!

    • +2

Paid $4800 for my mini 7 years ago!

      • That means it doubled in price in 7 years or was yours used?

        • +1

No I bought it new. Prices jumped in the US comparatively when La Marzocco home was introduced there. It made the Australian LMs seem really well priced - even though the mini was still $800-1000 more than equivalent Rockets and Profitec at the time. Don’t regret my decision - it was an excellent buy in retrospect. The introduction of LM home, Covid and a few minor upgrades (cool touch wands and ‘connected’) haven’t really been game changing upgrades so I’ve not wished to upgrade it. Still very happy with it.

    • +1

I paid $6750 2 years ago. There was a hole in my pocket for a good few months but looking back I am so glad I finally pulled the trigger. The app tells me that I have made 1274 cups of coffee so far !

    • +1

A friend of mine got a GS3 for 5k back in the day, they're well over 10k now! crazy. I wish I bought the Mini when it was 5k.

  • So basically a X54 grinder ($1000) and 12 month coffee subscription for free!

    • +2

But it costs more than some of our cars are worth..

      • +2

It will last longer than your car though!

        • My car is 21 years old, worth about $5k now. $8k and $5k coffee machines. I like my car…

  • +3

I never heard of this before, you can end up in penalty box if you get too much negs on a deal?
Second one I would like to ask, I don't have the knowledge on coffee machines. What makes this machine so special that has that price tag? Is it like professional coffee machine that will withstand in time?

    • +1

Yes, it will last! La Marzocco are pretty much the Rolls Royce of Espresso machines! They are used worldwide in a ton of commercial venues. The Micra is a recent addition to the domestic market. Before that, they really only had the bigger brother Mini or GS3 for the high end domestic user.

    • +1

penalty box if you get too much negs

Not if you have OzBargain Premium.

      • I thought it was Platinum ??

    • +1

Send Scotty $50 via PayPal for Penalty Box Protection.

      • Jokes aside, I am referring to what OP said in description. I never heard that before.

    • You need to open your eyes at the coffee shops. They are everywhere.

This is the low level one though. So you could use it at home easily for a professional level coffee but this is suited to like a coffee cart situation or maybe like pumping out 20-30 coffees at a small function. Wouldn't miss a beat.

      • +2

Thank you for helping me work out how to make this tax deductible!

        • Buy it for your workplace and then retire it after 3 years. Hope it doesn't get trashed in that period.

      • Actually, the Micra isn't really suited to pumping out more than 3 or 4 coffees back to back. After that, the recovery times increase so it wouldn't be ideal for a coffee cart or small functions venue. The Mini or GS3 on the other hand would be perfect in that scenario. They can pump out the coffee back to back due to bigger brew/steam boilers. This comes at the cost of longer heat-up times from start-up and increased power consumption. The Micra will be ready to rock and roll in 5 or so minutes from startup and is very power efficient in comparison.

        • Whoops I had the Micra mistaken for the mini. I thought the mini was usually this price?

  • Can I get it cheaper without the coffee sub?

    • +2

It's a pretty crappy bean so I don't think it contributes much to the cost.

      • I reckon it is a popular entry level blend. Crowd pleaser for people who are not coffee snobs. It is ok.

        • I think if you're buying this machine you are unlikely to be getting more St Ali beans and will probably go for single origin, but that's just me speaking out of my patoote. No idea what anyone other than me will be doing.

  • +1

I wanted to see what the fuss was all about, but it looks like their website is taking a hammering? There may be much more rich OzB'ers than I thought!

  • +1

Website down: 504 error. Did we just ozbargain the site?

    • +1

  • +14

OP, re your apology for posting, truth is for us really old ozbargainers, this kind of unusual post is about the only thing that gives us a half chub. Thank you.

    • Glad it helps :)
