Linea Micra Coffee Machine + Mahlkonig X54 Grinder + 12m ST.Ali Orthodox Blend Coffee Subscription $5999 Delivered @ La Marzocco

3710

This is not a deal for everyone and I may be negged into the penalty box for even sharing it.

But for those who want an LM machine - this is an insane offer, the best I’ve ever seen on an LM.

I’ve got the micra myself and would say witho it a doubt there is no benefit that the mini would have over it for the home user. It’s an amazing machine - having come from a rocket Mozzafiato Tipo V and an ECM Elektronika and also a breville barista express.

No it’s not for everyone - and no it’s not cheap. But if you wanted this as an endgame machine for no other reason other than you want an LM, then this is the deal for you.

FYI: Also comes with an accessories kit which is a nice touch - I believe it's the $379 one on the website.

Think I found the perfect grinder to compliment the LMLM:
    https://weberworkshops.com/products/the-sg-1

    https://youtu.be/HeFLUIpEhwk

  • is the small space between the drip tray and portafilter spout an issue?

    • Depends on what cup you use and whether you use a scale.

For reference I don’t use a scale and I can fit a 340ml keep cup under it. I also don’t split my shots with the plastic filter - opting to go with the naked portafilter only.

      • How can you run your recipe without a scale?

        • I'm not really a prescriptivist when it comes to brewing an espresso and making a latte. I have the same cup I use every time - and I keep the shot clock to approximately 22-32 seconds. It's volumetric from my end. In terms of how much beans to put in, I fill my portafilter with the beans before doing single dose grinding. No it's not to the exact gram - however, I get fairly consistent drinks throughout. Purists would scoff at the way I make it, but the regular BDB would also baulk. I guess I'm somewhere in between.

Hmm if I didn't back the meticulous, I might have thought a few seconds about this then realised I probably still stuff up my shot anyway…

  • Coffee equipement is the new Eneloop for Ozbargainers

  • +1

After BDB, if I ever had to upgrade..

  • Fantastic machine and still a level above my e61 for the same.price I paid for my machine and grinder.

  • Ugh I keep getting gateway timeout issues.

  • link doesn't work.

  • I'm afraid this is a pricing error , this deal is $6999
    see the deal here https://www.facebook.com/commerce/products/la-marzocco-micra…

      • That's my point, the june offer is without the grinder !
        https://www.facebook.com/commerce/products/la-marzocco-micra…?

Can't really check the site coz it's not working but i reckon this is a mix up if you check their FB site.

        • The picture quite clearly shows the grinder and machine

          • +1

@devize: confirmed $5999 for micra, grinder and a year of coffee. My order receipt shows it

            • @Gezzaman: yes i agree, facebook looks wrong. sorry about that.
bought one and clearly shows grinder on invoice also
              nice deal!

            • @Gezzaman: oh did your receipt shows a year of coffee as well? mines just like this:

la marzocco micra pride - june offer
              machine-colour: black
              grinder-colour: black
              serial number: tba

              • @Butterveggietoast: Yes ended up getting it all. FB has had a few different options of the same deal. All good. Already received but machine still in my ozbargain staging area along with the pixel buds and a few other unopened items. Thanks

                • @MrBillions: strange, pretty sure I selected the June offer with the complimentary St Ali subscription, their system must of stuffed it up and not issue me a code with the receipt, need to chase up with them then.

  • How can I buy it if the site doesn't work?!!

  • -1

    Thanks bought 8

  • Unless space is really a concern, would go for the mini instead, a slightly more substantial machine for the same price (RRP).

But $6k for the Micra with X54 and a year worth of coffee, a no brainer.

Will have to think about it overnight. :D

    • +1

      Think mini rrp went up

      • Thanks, did not know the price has gone up.

  • +1

Mmm, this or 5 Breville Dual Boilers when they are on special?

    • 5 BDB obviously.. one for every room in the house

      • Should be able to get 6 on a good deal.

  • I have a linea mini. These things are actually incredible

  • Now I know you guys here are rich enough to enjoy the 6k coffee machine.

  • nearly 12,000 clicks, looks like I'm not the only one watching youtube and TV and clicking away trying to get to website but getting a 504…

  • +2

So many people trying to buy it as it's such good value, the website has crashed. We eat cost of living increases for breakfast 😂

  • -1

    Thanks OP bought 35

    • +1

      35 * of the 504s?

      • dont have billions but bought all 35.

in reals this is pretty good

  • fyi this doesn't have a shot timer

    • It's probably worthy to pair with an Acaia Lunar.

I have the Timemore Nano, looks good but not working very well.

      • Don't say that, I just bought a nano. Is yours faulty or does the scale have issues in general?

        • Scale is working fine and accurate, I have checked using calibration weights.

It's just a little awkward to use.

          • Having the buttons on the sides, you tend to push the scale away whenever you try to press a button.
          • It has 3 modes, 3 taps to change mode require a bit of finesse, and you have to cycle through each mode. A 3 position slider would have been much easier.
          • Took me awhile to figure out that the pour over mode is actually the espresso mode - if you weight your grounds.

          The 3 modes are:

          • Regular - manual tare, manual start timer
          • Pour over - manual tare, press timer to initiate auto tare and auto timer
          • Espresso - auto tare, auto timer

If you don't weight the grounds, go ahead to use espresso mode.

          • @browser: Cheers, sounds like I’d need to use the pour over mode as well. So basically weigh beans, place cup on scale and press auto tare, timer and weight will begin once espresso hits the cup?

            • +1

@johnnytran: Yes, in pour over mode, you do the manual tare/weigh until you are happy with the amount of ground in the dosing cup (or portafilter).

When you are ready to start brewing, press the timer button, it will countdown 3…2…1. Basically you have 3 seconds to put a cup on the scale (our you can put the cup on the scale first, then press the timer button).

The timer will start automatically once the weight changes, i.e. coffee has hit the cup.

Now, the slight annoyance is that when you have stopped brewing, i.e. weight stops changing, the timer keeps going until you press the timer button to stop it manually.

Only in espresso mode, the timer starts and stops automatically. But as mention before, it also tares automatically, losing track of how much ground you already have, makes it hard if you want to top up just a little bit.

Another option is to constantly switch between regular and espresso mode, but the 3-tap finesse and having to cycle through the 3 different modes make the experience frustrating.

All in all the Nano is a quality and accurate scale, I really like the form factor and its display, but it has usability issues. I was hoping Timemore can address it through firmware updates, or provide different firmware versions to address different use cases. So far nothing.

      • Lunar may not fit because of the short distance between drip and portafilter…that bit's a worry.

        • I was wondering about that while watching one of the reviews. Apparently the clearance between the portafilter and drip tray is 75mm with spout attachment, 90mm without. Lunar is around 15mm in height, so that leaves 70mm for the cup.

One solution is to use a shot glass like this: https://rhinocoffeegear.com/rhino-coffee-gear-shot-glass-dou…

I use that when making long blacks, as I like to pour espresso into hot water, rather than hot water into expresso. Also good to drink from the shot glass for a quick coffee hit. But I wouldn't want to transfer into a larger cup all the time for milk based drinks.

    • Unfortunately no shot timer on the machine which is a bit of a pain. However, it does have a shot timer in the app where it tracks your shot details - not that I use it myself. I too, miss the shot timer present on my previous mozzafiato.

      • +2

Bit clunky looking at the app while pulling shots.
Better way to find a scale that fits normal size cup

  • +2

Waiting for "my $14 K-mart rice cooker" can do the same comment.

  • wow awesome deal. I already have the Linea Mini and I don't think my wife would be too impressed if another mini pallet arrived at our door. Good find OP!

  • The Mignon Specialita looks better with the Micra, both squarish and angular design.

  • +3

    Bought!
I'll now will have to sacrifice my BDB and DF64. Thank you. You have been good to me.

    • What grinder will U use then?

      • This deal comes with a Mahlkonig X54. Which makes it so tempting.

      • +1

Ii have a niche zero also. Main daily driver. Always wanted the mahlkownig though. You can buy a 250g hopper for the mahlkoenig.

    • It's quite a jump from BDB to Micra.

You have skipping a few incremental upgrades, in a way saved money and time.

    • Every deal that I want but can't afford you seem to buy!

  • +1

Is it possible to stack this with coles MasterCard for 7% discount?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/778169

    • +2

      There are 2 problems.

      1) Doesn't look that the website allow split payments, i.e. you will need 24 x $250 prepaid MasterCards.
      2) Depending on the payment gateway, they may not accept prepaid MasterCard.

  • +1

Plenty of enjoyment and satisfaction along the way, but only takes about 1300 coffees to recoup its value - less than 2 years at 2 coffees/day ;-)

    • what about the costs for beans (and milk)?

      • too true that… too late…. need bed…

        • +1

And power and water. This thing takes a while to heat up and flush.

But no one is buying these with payback periods in mind really.

  • +4

Keep the grinder and beans, drop price to $3k and you have a deal

  • I assume the coffee subscription is 1 x 1kg bag per month?

    • I’d like to know too

    • I was in store at their Melbourne showroom today and the attendant indicated it was indeed a 1x 1kg bag per month.

  • +5

Typical OzBargain. A $6000 coffee machine gets far more upvotes and clickthroughs (currently 14600) than a $600 coffee machine. People here have far too much money. That's why we have super inflation in Australia.

    • +2

On a side note. Went to buy a block 1kg of tasty cheese at woolies yesterday and this is now $12 !!! I'm sure this was $7 bucks last year !!

Next thing they will make the $1kg block 800g and sell at $12…

      • Like coffee roasters do?

      • How long does it take for you to get through a kilo of cheese?

        • +1

With kids and mice less than one month…

    • +5

I tried being responsible and bought a $1500 coffee machine when my $4k machine broke. I regret it every day. It’s like flying economy after you’ve flown business class.

      • +1

Interested to know from what machine to what!!

        • From a Saeco to a delonghi. There’s no major issues with the delonghi but it’s what you get used to. No profiles for different users, can’t set temperature, setting up your coffee settings more Fiddly, milk canister heaps smaller, coffee takes longer to make.

      • Keen to know what the big differences are

    • +3

Cause it’s a relative bargain for the item. This is the equivalent if Rolex had discounts.

Once you go for a nice machine (dual boiler) it’s night and day compared to any cheaper model (heat block/exchange/sb)

It’s like going from wagyu steak to minute steak. Both can be yum, and both can be shit if cooked incorrectly, the wagyu has a very accomodating cooking window until it’s shit whereas minute steak has a 5 second window from turning from perfect to throw away.

  • +2

Damn I bought the micra last week on its own for $5999 :(

Got delivered within a business day though so that was good. I guess..

    • How's it been going for you?

    • rip I'm sorry friend

    • +1

Really enjoyable. The coffee vs the BDB is definitely next level. They gave me a month old kg of beans and they’re still going great!

      • What grinder do you have?

  • This or a Decent?

    • +1

      I'll get both.

  • +1

Its the deal of the century, great find op

  • +1

@Op yes I know how you feel most people don't understand what good stuff looks like they just want to see the cheap crap. But there are nice machines.Good to see people here apprecate good espresso machines.

  • +1

This or a Lelit Bianca V3?

    • A Bianca is a couple thousand dollars less, so i'm not sure they're in the same ballpark tbh, but I love my Bianca and would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone looking. Built like a tank, 15 minute heat up time is incredibly fast for an e61, pre-infusion with programmable low flow times if you're lazy like me, removable tank to save on space. Love it.

  • Also would this grinder be an upgrade over a Mazzer Mini? Anyone used both?

    • +1

This has way more features, mazz has good burrs but lacks the tech in the malk

    • +1

I read X54 is considered as an entry into commercial world of grinders, where Mazzer Mini is a very competent machine for home or a secondary/decaf grinder in a smaller cafe.

  • Any way to get the coles express coffee machine?
I tried looking for it online and it's like $25,000

    • I'd just get a jura if you really wanted something like that. It'd be about a tenth or fifth of the cost of the coles one.

      • The Jura's make good coffee considering it's fully automatic, where things go wrong is their milk system, Started out ok, then got seriously annoying, doing essentially a full cleaning every day (even if you make 1 coffee) is unsustainable (else risk blockages, not frothing properly etc), not to mention with the required cleaning tablets/chemicals works out pretty expensive - and lets be honest, the milk is fine for a cappuccino, but falls short for a latte.

Having had the E8, if you just want espresso and don't care about milk-based drinks, then it'll make a decent enough espresso, if you want milk based drinks look elsewhere, for me that was the one and only Oracle, haven't looked back going on almost 2yrs now, this Linea Micra is very very tempting now that i've got a better understanding of the manual process.

        • -1

The oracle is great. When you already have one of those and you look at this package its over triple the price but your coffee might only be 10-15% better than you get on an oracle.

  • Thank you for your order, we really appreciate it.
Due to the high demand of our June offer, we are experiencing a delay in processing orders. It will be a 2-3 weeks to process and ship your order. We apologise for the delay and we endeavour to get your machine out to you as soon as possible.Warm regards

18,200 clicks with assuming 1% conversion rate, that's $1,091,818 in sales in the last 24hrs…nice!

  • Considering starting to drink coffee just to buy this but would be the most impulsive ozbargain purchase ever. Trying to justify it by telling myself coffee has health benefits. Looks great in the kitchen too? Black or stainless steel, mmm.

    • +5

Start with a BDB before you go down that path.

      • Is this too much overkill? BDB I would need to buy a grinder for right? Is there anything that this does better in terms of performance or its just built to be serviced more easily?

      • Also got pretty tempted by this deal as I don't know if it will get discounted this much again. Doesn't seem to be common for there to be discounts? Although yeah big investment unless I really get into coffee.

        • It's not discounted.

  • About 10 years ago, a relo spent 6G on a machine, I thought he was crazy. Today's 6G is worth less, but still can't believe I'm actually thinking about it.

    • Is your relos machine still working and doing good shots?
