DGTEC Dick Smith DVD and 5.1 Home Theatre System $5 - Yes, Five Dollars

150

Just picked this up at Dick Smiths Norwood SA. No remote, no manual, no worries at $5!!

Not sure if other branches are getting rid of their stock but it's got to be worth asking. Good luck OzBargainers!!

        So why bother posting ?

      • +2

That should have read "last one at Norwood is at my house now".

      • hahahaha … teach them cheap bastards here a lesson, love it. Prolly could have gotten if of ebay for 2fiddy delivered.

pretty stupid to post this!! kind of like saying I just found $50 in the gutter if you look in your local gutter you might find $50 lol

      • +6

        Woot! Just found $50!!!

        Awesome first post reece86, thanks!

        • LOL

    most likely a one off

That's what I'm thinking, display stock with bits and bobs missing or stolen, need to get rid of it so put a crazy price on it and someone will buy it.

    • Maybe. Always worth asking.

  • It'd be the same price at all Dick Smith stores, just don't expect a brand new one in a box.

    • are you the REP??? anyway to track the available stocks in each store??

      • +3

Go into your local store with the Cat Number AE2832, and if they don't have it ask if any other stores in the area have one.

        • Not on the website any more, so needle in the haystack stuff.

haha would be nice if there were heaps of them, i've always wanted 5.1 surround sound in my toilet

    • +4

      haha…playing a normal mp3 player sounds like a 5.1 surround sound in my toilet ! :)

ssseeessshhhh such a busy day …. first, pick up $1 speaker in Gosford (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/77875) then travel to Norwood SA for this

its been 40 mins since you posted,
does it work or is it broken?

    • Haven't had the chance yet. If it doesn't work at least I know there's a crisp $5 bill awaiting me at Dickies! :)

Bargain if you can get 1 - will try our local tomorrow.

  • For the grumblers, the reason I posted this is because it's runout stock item at a major chain, not at all like finding $50 bucks in a gutter.

As Grimezy said, head into your local DS store and quote the Cat Number. You're reward may be a home theatre system at $5.

    Or don't. Your choice. :)

    • +5

Or more likely, your reward will be a strange look like why are you asking that, walking out empty handed, and wasted time heading off to the shop.

Sure, it's a great price, but damaged stock is one-off. It's not like every store is going to have units with missing parts that are at that price.

  • The Q in the bottom corner means quitstock, my store sold our last one when it went discont like 8 months ago. Really doubt theres more than 5-10 in the country. Better chance to find this in low income stores or the smaller old ones that people dont tend to walk into. That being said, better chance of finding a home theatre system in a council pickup…

There was a laptop on here last week which was a very low priced clearance item in dick smith and everyone was posting same comments like this that you cant find it and that was probably last one in oz etc but after that user shared the bargain I tracked one down which was last in melbourne, there were still some in country store. Also when I did find one and pop in store to ask they told me someone already reserved it online so prob sold but call back 48hrs as they must hold that long. I called back n Yesss it was all mine!!! But yeah obviously this item is $5 so might not be worth tracking down unless u r already heading shops

    • The laptop wasn't a problem, and was well worth a post. Obviously with it being discontinued there wasn't going to be unlimited stock in all stores.

Got one from DSE Glenelg, SA

  • None in Perth CBD. Guy said there should be some in Karrinyup and Claremont.

  • Awesome to see someone got one in Glenelg. So, not a one-off and well worth the post for patnn001.

As a side-note, mine even came with a free DVD in the tray! BONUS!!
