Not sure on how good ARC gpus are but this one seems to be the equivalent of 3060 i think? Pretty good if that's the case, you only need ram and an ssd to get it started and the best deals i've found are:

Crucial 8GB (1x 8GB) DDR5 4800MHz SODIMM (*2 for 16gb)

Kingston SNV2S NV2 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 2280 SSD

First time I heard "Barebone Laptop"

    • +4

They're definitely a bit niche, but one of the main advantages is if you're running a Linux laptop, so you don't have to "pay" for Windows when you buy a normal one.

Let me tell you about Framework laptops my friend. Have a look at it :)

  • Gee even clicking on the link doesn't show the weight of the laptop

    • +2

It literally says it on the spec sheet on the product page

      Weight & dimensions

      Weight 2.2kg

      • My bad. I didn't see it on the spec sheet, and I still can't. But I saw this "At 15.6” and less than 2.20 kg, these thin and lights make it easy to create and play anytime, anywhere. The sleek 15.6” chassis features a narrow bezel FHD 144Hz display and a membrane keyboard with single-zone RGB lighting. "

    A730M is around a 3050

    • It's really hard to compare Intel GPUs currently. Synthetic/benchmarks they're amazing (3d mark/firestrike/etc), however in games it's all over the shop depending on what intel has optimized the drivers for and what APIs the game is using.

  • operating system not included?

It better this way since you can save $150 on retail key

Mwave is back in stock as well with testing, although $100 more than the previous deal

        • $1079 (barebones)
~$106 for a 16gb sodimm dual channel (amazon)
~ $100-200 for your choice of NVME (1TB,2tb) (amazon)

Still be cheaper than the mwave link provided. However no windows key (you can just use it for free with watermark), or no heaphones (meh)

@OnlineShopper123: The Mwave BTO is 32GB, not 16GB

This $1079 BYO Arc NUC does not move the needle when the older and superior RTX 3060 model was $1099

Except for some real edge case setups like dedicated AV1 encoding and budget 16GB VRAM AI training, Arc is now dead

            • @Look Up: I don't understand why you got negged that much? jesus christ

what is the battery life for this?

  • Can I reuse a Windows key from an old laptop? Or are they locked to the device they were used/installed on?

I got 3 laptops that I need to nuke and bin so am not short on Windows keys.

    • Depends on the kind of licence used. Most laptops will come with a single-use Windows license because they're cheaper. If youve bought a standalone Windows license at some stage then youll be able to transfer that

      • Cheers for the advice. I've only ever bought a standalone Windows license for my desktop which I've been reusing between builds.

All of my laptops came with Windows so I'd say they're probably single use keys.

  • I asked this in the previous MWave deal, but does anyone know if the improved ARC drivers have led to actual improved performance over that seen in the initial reviews of this gpu from last year? I have not seen any updated reviews of the "new" performance online anywhere.

    • On the same boat. Can't find any recent reviews or performance data anywhere. It looks like drivers did improved it a bit in the initial stages but after that everyone stopped posting lol

    Price jacked to $1239 now.

I believe this is the same laptop but includes ram and ssd

    also cheaper

    • And Windows Home!

  • these will drop to under $1000 soon like the previous model did

  • Thanks to the OP (AsianInvAsian) for their efforts.
