Original Coupon Deal

3070 for the price of 3060, and cheaper than 2 weeks ago. why say lots word when few word do the trick

also KO version for $607.62 again.

I don't think there's enough reason to overpay for 3070 Ti, also Ti has higher PSU requirements due to GDDR6X power hungry memory for very little benefit. 3070 is the sweetest spot at the moment for bang for buck

yeah it might seem 4060 Ti is a good choice, but with narrow VRAM bus it's just no good in 4k, while 3070 is strong enough to take on 4k with DLSS enabled

P.S. for my friends who bought the Razer Tomahawk Gaming Desktop, this DUAL is a bit too tall to fit, power cables will be blocked by the case fans. KO version fits with 180 degree cable plugs installed ($13.99 on Amazon). works happily in my unit.

  • If 4k is in consideration (or 1440p even), then RX 6700XT with 12GB VRAM would be a more compelling purchase?

    • +5

yes 6700XT is a solid choice because of VRAM on the card (12 vs 8 GB on 3070). performance wise 3070 is slightly stronger tho

yes I understand that 8GB is a bit low in 2023, but for those pesky console ports I also have Xbox Series X, so I kind of don't care. a lot of great games play fine in 4k on 8GB card, including Death Stranding, Control, Ghostrunner, Division.

and greatest game of all times Mordhau lol

even the sticking point TLOU p.1 I got for free with 6700 plays fine with DLSS Performance in 4k.

for reference I had 6700 and 6800 but sold them on because of annoying coil whine. maybe I was unlucky with those cards, but my case is basically mesh on 3 sides, and any noise goes a long way. 2060 and 3070 were quiet as.

I'm using a 3080 10GB, and this year has been annoying when every new games I have to dial down texture or DLSS preset, which does have visible impact on quality (playing on ultrawide 1440p, sometimes on 4k TV). I'm happy to tune down most settings to achieve 100+fps, but texture has always been the most impactful on visuals. It's just sad that 3070/3080 are very capable of 4K gaming, but ultimately held back by the VRAM capacity.

if you look at the bigger picture, it's a race the consumer can't win, and isn't supposed to.

to be able to play today games released today in high quality 4k, one needs to shell out $$$$$ and get a 4090. me? I don't care about playing games in really good quality on day one. I'll pick them up in 2-3 years and play on whatever $600 or less card will be available at the time, let's say a 5060. or heavily discounted 4070. it will be tons cheaper that way.

to win this race you have to buy a $2k card every year. I am not going to do that

I have a lot of amazing AAA titles released in the past 5 years that I haven't finished yet. why would I care about new games, I'll pick them up free on Epic in 3 years and play then lol

also I have Xbox Pass, I'll just try them on Xbox when they get on the pass, I am sure it'll have to play well there lol

        • Personally won't ever pay for a game dev studios laziness. 8Gb is a stupid amount of video ram, think about how unbelievably inefficient you have to be to require more than 8GB at 4k on a scene.

Even then on a 4090 some of their crap looks worse than on a PS4.

@jaimex2: laugh if you like, as I may sound like a conspiracy theory zealot which I am so totally not

but I suspect there's a bit of tipping off happening behind the scenes, and the development studios do these poorly optimised ports on purpose, to create incentive for consumers to reach for higher priced modern cards that come with higher VRAM

and to remove last gen cards from competition as they are equally capable just don't come with enough VRAM to run these atrocities

    Thanks OP, this is perfect.

      glad could be of service

  • Damn the card is 3 years old. Still better than $750 but the 3080 should be this price.

    • +1

      should but isn't unfortunately

3080 is essentially replaced by 4070, so it should be discounted

but 3070 isn't replaced because 4060 Ti is a bit of a curved ball. sounds like NVIDIA is trying to take 4k gaming away from us in this price range where it's within reach with 3070

  • Indeed they are. Note how this deal only has 13 upvotes. Most members on here aren't happy gpu prices are going down.

they are scared of 8gb vram
