  • Thanks OP.
Been keeping an eye on this to go <$400 - perfect timing.

I saw this and got super excited cos I thought it was the other S8+ lol

  • Cleaning wise how does this compare to the Rooma 800 series (~6+ years ago)?

    • comparing this to a 6 year old roomba? Kinda answered you own question….

  • +1

Don't know why but I got one. Hope it makes my weekends a bit easier on cleaning.

    • Certainly does for me. I only need to do a quick once over with my stick vacuum after running one of these.

      • How's the mop function? I'm more interested in the vacuum function, but kinda curious if it's a decent mopper too

        • +1

I don't own this one specifically but have another with auto empty. The mop attachments can be a bit of a gimmick as they just drag a wet cloth around.

      • -1

So you have to vacuum after your vacuum

        • Not sure if trolling or you're actually serious. The robot vacuum can't reach certain places like under my couch.

        • +2

i put the my roomba on twice a week and then do a real vacuum once every three months to get under rugs and couches

          • +1

@girafficlight: I feel lucky that my sofa has feet that my roborock S5 can get under so I basically have to do nothing. I run its vacuum and mop 3-4 times a week and the house is clean.

      • +1

You need to vacuume after your robot vacuum?

        • +1

How else do you go under a rug?

  • Cheap and probably works well enough but the warranty will be the issue as it will break.

    • +2

Its supposedly a copy of the Viomi Alpha S9, so parts may not be too hard to come by

      • My viomi s9 was great then battery died < 12 months, full refund thankfully but went with branded retail next time and got ecovacs

  • I got way too excited than I should have…. Wished it was roborock

  • @Clear does the mopping function just drag a wet cloth across the ground or does the cloth pad also move/vibrate independently? (If it just drags the cloth around how effective is it?)

    • +1

Its a gentle wipe with a damp cloth.

    • +2

Just the wet cloth across the ground type.

    • The unit will go in a y motion, so it's a little more than dragging a damp cloth (not much though). But it is actually surprising how well the floor looks after, but it will never replace a proper mop and bucket. It will leave stubborn marks.

  • Is this any good?

  • whats the situation with these dust collectors, does it need a bag or is it bagless?

    • +1

The auto dock takes a bag.

      • do you know what the bags cost and how long they last? It says 70 days unattened or something on the ad so assuming it's somwhere up to that

  • Available on back order but I fear that might mean weeks or months

  • +3

Surely even using the same model naming convention as Roborock is a step too far…?

  • Thanks @Clear. I'll give it a go. Cheers

  • Can anyone who owns this unit confirm that it will auto empty in the docking station when it sences the vacuum unit tray is full then continue to clean the area once emptied.

    • +1

Only iRobot does that. Shouldn't be an issue if you run it daily after the first week or so, just babysit it or do smaller runs at first.

  • +1

OOS for me. Should have grabbed earlier when I saw it but waited til I got home.

    • Looks like it's back in stock

  • +1

    Did they jack up the price? $549 - 25 then 22% discount - 115.28 = 408.72

    • +1

Also bought a phone from them 2 weeks ago. Was supposed to be delivered via express post. Bought on a Sunday. Latest delivery was Thursday. They didn't even post it, saying they were waiting for a courier to pick it up. Don't they use auspost, so they just drop it off at the post office? Claimed a refund on Friday. I have bought from Allphones in the past with no issues, but that was pretty bad service 2 weeks ago

  • Can the bags from the Viomi S9 be used in this thing? What about any other parts?

    • +1

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's all identical. Vacuum bag would be fine. Infact you'll find generics work too as long as they look the same.

      • Hi, can anyone find bags, everywhere that sells them seems to be out of stock

  • How does this compare to S7MaxV plus ?

  • +1

Just bought this but the original price got jacked by $20 to $549 so its now $408

  • Wonder how good this is at avoiding dog poop. That is my worst fear…
