    • What's point of doing it? It seems unnecessary, only causing issues.

You can set you the PIN upon first purchase or it may work by just pressing enter(nothing).

    • What happens if you call the phone number and attempt to check the gift card’s balance using the automated phone system?

      • If it tells you your gift card’s balance, your gift card is fine, you should probably clear cookies, check the balance on another device, etc etc.

      • If it says there is an issue with your gift card, it means InComm has blocked it, and you will need to talk to a rep over the phone to have it unblocked.

  • Couldn't find any $250s in VIC Western Suburbs.. There are $100s but not worth the risk.

    • Which ones?

  • +7

Managed to get 3x $250 cards early this morning at local Coles. Staff said I could get 5, but wasn't many on shelf so left for others.

  • +1

I managed to get 5 x $250 cards and applied the lot to my upcoming Royal Caribbean Cruise - now need to find another 20 to pay the cruise balance lol

    • +1

Why did I think you needed 5150?

  • Does anyone know if you also earn flybuys points per $ spent on these gift cards?

    • You will earn standard Flybuys points (1x point per $1) when purchasing these gift cards, because:

      • Coles awards standard Flybuys points on purchases of all third-party gift cards, and

      • Coles classifies Coles Mastercard gift cards as third-party gift cards, as they are issued by Heritage Bank on behalf of InComm. (Coles Mastercard gift cards are not issued by Coles Group, even though they have the Coles brand plastered all over them.)

      • +3

Yep, and it will absolutely destroy your next few bonus points offers :)

        • I gave up on targeted bonus points offers a couple of years ago! At least the ones with the minimum spend criteria…

        • does it stack with flybuys spend offers?

      • Does it mean I can get Velocity status point if I buy these cards?

        • +2

          No.

Purchases of gift cards stopped counting towards earning Velocity status back in November 2021 (if I remember correctly). The terms pretty much always said that purchases of gift cards were not supposed to count, so this was a loophole that took a while for Flybuys and/or Velocity to close.

          • @WookieMonster: @WookieMonster - https://card.gift/product/go-to-visa-gift-card any idea if these cards can be added to mobile wallet? ik last month (Mother's day cards worked) but just thinking to double check…does say in-store so I assume it can be but the pic doesn't have GPay or Apple Pay on it, whilst the MasterCards do.

      • Approx $1 in FB dollars per $250 MCGC purchase.

  • Just bought 10 on 2 cards

  • +1

    20 x $250's purchased today over 2 visits

Don't need anymore after the recent digital 10% offer

    • How did staff allowed you to buy 2 lots of 5 at each store?

      • +1

They guy at the checkout didnt seem to care.
He just made sure im using 2 different flybuys and 2 different credit cards

  • Can you purchase these with cash at self checkout? And can you pay off Afterpay balance with them?

    • i did at self checkout but maximum is $1100 , and it also calls the attendant to authorise

try scan you flybuys first to see if it reduces the total below, cos i scanned giftcards first

  • Sold out already do they re-fill in some time?

    • +1

      Maybe.

Coles Mastercard gift cards are usually sent by courier to a store, and it is to up to Coles staff (usually the store manager) when those gift cards are made available for sale. From what a duty manager once told me, the store needs to order stock from head office ahead of a deal, so if a store did not order a lot of stock (or there are delays in the courier getting the gift cards to the store), you can have stock issues.

Of course, that is only one explanation for gift cards appearing to be sold out, because you could have staff keep stock for themselves, people stealing stock from one store so it can be purchased at another store, staff forgetting they even have any gift cards in storage, etc.

      • -4

Can these gift cards which hasn't been paid for yet be taken out of the store without triggering the store alarm?

        • Yes

          • @shane23: Thanks. Would be a good idea if stores keep them at the service desk during promos.

            • @ilovefullprice: I wouldn’t be taking anything out of the store alarms or not . It’s still stealing.

      • Only $250 are sold out

  • Anyone had any luck with calling around rather than driving around?

  • bondi junction eastgate sold out, bondi westfield only received the $100 ones and told me they won't get any $250 ones.

  • +1

good luck to all. Finished my run for this time. FYI Southland had x4 full boxes of $250 cards yesterday afternoon

  • What's the best way to get JBHIFI gift cards at a discount, without running into card security issues?

  • Is anyone else having issues with ATO payments today?

I successfully used 5 x $250 cards towards my tax bill but when I tried to use another 3 cards they were declined and I got the following message: Your payment has been declined Please contact your financial institution
Checked online and each card is active and has a $250 credit.

Rang 07 5660 6022 and was told the cards are fine and it was the merchant (ATO) declining the transactions.

Coincidently I bought the latest cards this morning but the Checkmybalance website shows they were activated last night..

Frustrating because my tax payment is due today. Will try again later today but it looks like I have 8 x $250 cards that I can’t use.. Might end up seeking an extension from ATO.

PS Plenty of $250 cards at Essendon Fields Coles when I was there about an hour ago.

    • +1

When did you pay? As a data point, it worked for me at around 9:30am this morning (x5 $250 MasterCard gift cards).

    • +2

You can only use 5 cards per 12-24 hour period per portal (myGov and EasyPay)

    • +2

You can only pay 5 per 12 hours per method. There are two methods, via your mygov and Government easypay.. I suggest you try Government easypay.

    • +2

      Nothing wrong with your cards.
You can only do 5 transactions/day/platform. There are 2 ways to make payments so you can only do max 10 transactions or pay $2500 when using these cards -
1 via your mygov account and 2nd via https://www.governmenteasypay.gov.au/payato

      • +1

        Thank you.
I love hearing these tips/tricks - it means it is worth my effort to get the $100 cards when they don't have any $250 (a smaller discount is better than none at all).
I only knew about government easy pay because that was on the ATO letter. Didn't know you could do another 5 via MyGov.

        • +1

You can actually do more than 5 on the ATO (mygov), just keep trying to put them through after the initial 5. I think I was able to put through 8 or 9 multiple times

      • Do you have to have a tax bill or can you pre-load these? If so how please? I tried easypay and it asks for a payment reference number and can't find how to do it on mygov

        • Your payment reference # can be found in myGov ato section. You can pre-load.

    • +1

Checkmybalance website shows time in US. They were not activated last night..

    • +1

Thanks everyone for your informative responses..this was my first go at ATO payments using prepaid cards..

ATO has also given me extra time to finalise my payments so all good for now.

    • At 3pm none left. Some very keen ozbargainer syndicate out there hunting gift cards

      • You have to hit those shops early in the morning.

        • Yeah well never had this issue in the past deals in 2021-2022. Either less stock now, everyone is really depending on these for cost of living.

          • @lilkid28: I think with the digital deal few weeks ago more people got exposed to the benefits of these cards etc so maybe more demand from new customers.

            • @maverick1: Yeah perhaps. I guess its gotten more popular vs the first 2-3 times this promo was on, especially during Covid. Heck I caught Covid also thanks to this promo lmao.

  • Tips to use any balance sub $1? Or just forego it and consider it my fee

Anyone know if we can pay it towards rates/utilities?

    • +4

Just do a split payment at Coles/Woolies at your next shop to use it up.

      • Oh yeah. Good idea! Thank you

    • I usually pay the small balances to my insurance. Very quick and easy via the app.

      • Which insurer are you with? Both NRMA and Allianz would not do split payments for me, so I could not use any cards.

        • If you go to an Australia Post Shop or LPO, you should be able to pay for an NRMA insurance notice using multiple Mastercard/Visa cards, but that is assuming the Australia Post staff knows how to do that and are willing to do split payments and will let you use prepaid gift cards as a payment method.

          • +1

@WookieMonster: Thank you WM - I guess this only works if they are nice and it's not busy.

            • +1

              @Zippy7: No worries!

I should have also mentioned that I have no idea about Allianz, but I suspect the answer would be the same… assuming they allow you to pay at an Australia Post Shop / LPO.

        • @Zippy7 Medibank :)

        • Same also. Budget direct doesn’t do split payments

  • Awesome deal. Thanks OP

  • +1

Chatswood Chase update - they got some this morning, but I was late and got last $250 card.
Still no $250's at Chatswood Westfield :(

    • Same, went today and only $100 left

    • I gave up this time, unable to find any $250.
      Which hasn’t been happened before.

  • Help!

Bought these at coles and checked. They’ve got the $250 on it.

Went to Aldi straight after and selected cheque - nope declinee, then savings and nope. Declined.
Same with bakers delight. Wtf is happening.

    • +10

      You need to select credit.

      • Thanks legend. Worked a treat

  • +2

Day 2 of the promo and hardly any $250 cards left. No issues getting 50 cards a day in the past from Day 1-5, Day 6-7 normally almost out. In VIC, people are either getting rich from these or the rising cost of living makes everyone get these to save on costs.

    • +2

either that or stock levels are low. Wonder when the next lot will be.

    • -1

50 cards a day in the past from Day 1-5

WTF that's $62,500 tied up in gift cards 🤯

How do you offload them back to actual money in that sort of quantity ?!

And why do you just have $62,500 sitting around uninvested ?

      These numbers are truly bonkers.

  • +1

If someone is still looking: Coles Heidelberg in Warringal Mal has four $250 cards and about six $100 cards as of an hour ago.

  • +1

Will they ever replenish the stock? Can’t find any $250 in my surrounding coles.

  • Just bumped into people looking for $250 as well lol

  • spend asap or you might get hacked.

  • I woke up early and checked three local stores, but none of them had the 250 one in stock. It might not be a good deal if you can only get it within the first 10 minutes on the first day. :(

    • Checked 2 this morning. One had only had $100s left, but the cashier said they had a few $250s which seems to have sold out just mins before I reached. The other branch, hopelessly can't seem to ever have any stock

  • I tried to purchase these cards at coles using hsbc split payments and they didn’t allow . She said you have to pay the whole amount . They were told that by head office apparently for these cards u can’t do split payments . So not sure if it’s everywhere or she is being a cow

    • Each store have their own policies depending on the manager.
Just move on to a different store.

Some stores say 3 cards per transaction so they dont need supervisor barcode scan.

Some stores let you buy only 5 cards, while others let you buy as many as you want.

    • Each store makes up their own rule, depends on how high and mighty the staff feels. I have one guy telling my husband and I only 5 cards per family. When I say he’s my friend, he changed to 5 cards per group because we came together, which is complete bs. But he will process them for us as a favour and this time only lol.

    • I did split payments when I pay.

    • Could consider buying the $100 ones one at a time - which would let you tap every time as a whole transaction

  • Somehow ended up at 4 stores none had $250 left and two had $100 ones left

Only planned to visit one but wife running late to work so I dropped her and then checked out the ones en route home.

I don't mind buying the $100 ones if there will be no more stock of the $250 ones - but not sure whether to keep trying my luck until say Monday before pulling trigger on the $100 ones.

    • Which stores pls? Might save me some time running around

      • Oakleigh
        Clayton x2
        Chaddy

Note I didn't try ask if they had any behind the counter - in hindsight perhaps I should have just in case.

        • Also none at moonee ponds or essendon fields when i checked late yesterday.

        • +1

Checked Blackburn North, Doncaster and Tunstall Square this morning, no $250 cards

Checked The Pines, Warringal and Bulleen yesterday, also no $250 cards

          • +1

@JaeTee: Thanks. Saving me running around

            • @clover: but there could be some there now.

    • haha same pinch. Been holding off the $100 purchase, after dry runs amongst a number of stores, went back to get $100s and they were all sold out too…incredible how crazy the demand is!

  • +1

no $250 cards pretty much at any coles eastern suburbs sydney. i doubt they would get restocked on the weekend so might have to try monday or tuesday

  • +1

This is an interesting one, people wiping off shelves to stockpile discounted GC's due to increasing rates, and what this causes is more spending and further inflation. This is how a recession starts….sad but true

    • +1

well i have to pay my water, gas, eletricty, internet, mobile, rates, land tax, phi… just that is about 10k a year and I save $750. SO I could definitely do with more gc

      • Not disagreeing with you, but would spending driving inflation just cause everything that you mention to go even higher? So it may seem like a short term fix for a long term problem.

And I find myself in exactly the same position as you.

  • Tried to use in Woolies and in Coles. The EFPOS in both places declined the transactions… Cannot even use Coles gift card in Coles?! What a joke… Have to call the issuer now… And I realised that the issuer has been changed from Indue to Heritage Bank…

update: cannot check balance on the website, says a system issue occurred. Online digital cards were OK.

    • It should work through the credit option.

      • it did not give you an option to choose credit/debit. I am on the phone now, tried to check my balance on the phone, said my card had an issue and transferred me to customer service and waiting…

    • Update 2: They said my supermarket transactions were suspicious and the system blocked my card… Apparently it is a stupid system. Just be aware.
