    • You probably need to ask the service counter, they put them at the back office at my local.

  • If you can't find any on the shelf ask the service counter, they had a lot of boxes stored at the back office and I think they're going to be storing them at the service counter and not on the shelves.

Same thing happened with the last deal.

  • greenacre has around 20 left. I was there at 6:30

  • +1

Can this gift be used to buy Prezzee gift cards?

    • I think so,i used the online ones to buy it

  • +1

As I walked in saw a staff member putting them on the shelf (maybe 25 in total)

    Took 5 off her hands

I was unlucky with one failing to activate - got refunded at service counter for it but when I went back to shelf to try get one more they were already all gone.

Not surprising as I saw probably 5 other people buying them at self checkout same time as me.

Gonna try again tomorrow for more

    • How do u know failed to active?

      • +2

The checkout should trigger a warning message saying the activation request has been rejected, and staff at a self checkout area are supposed to intervene and alert someone from the service desk so they can help you. However, it sounds like not all Coles checkouts do this for some reason.

You can also check by looking at the activation details section of the purchase receipt to see what it says under 3RD PARTY GIFT CARD and the activation amount. If it says (00)APPROVED, you are all good. If it says DECLINED for any of the gift cards to have purchased, you need to go to the service desk and ask for assistance.

  • Went to two local Coles in Belconnen ACT here at 7:10 and 7:25. None of $250 cards in stock. Talked to the staff at the front desk and was told it was not delivered yet. But they had no idea when it will be delivered.

  • None of $250 and $100 left in Marrickville metro at 7.30

  • Got 5 at North Sydney. Wynyard OOS.

  • Just had a look at bondi junction coles, they dont have 250 Mastercards but they have a lot of those 100$ ones,if anyone interested

  • Plenty of $100s at Chatswood Chase and Westfield. $250s haven’t arrived yet apparently. I created a flybuys account yesterday to take advantage but the discount didn’t apply when I scanned my digital card :(

    • did you register it? The flybuys membership needs to be fully registered (email/mobile confirmed)

      • Yeah email and phone registered, perhaps I didn’t request for physical card which causing the issue

        • +1

I registered a few accounts for the last QLD deal without requesting physical cards and they worked fine to access the discount. It's probably the 24hr registration lockout/loading period as mentioned below.

    • same here. can’t get it working with new flybuys account. verified both email and phone number

      • 24 hours waiting mentioned in the previous deal.

        • +1

I am having the same issue.
          Hopefully it will work tomorrow.

  • +2

Went for a walk to Chatswood Westfield and Chatswood Chase this morning ~7am - none at either.
Staff said they expect some to be delivered later today, but no guarantee (tagging @bird380 from last time)

edit - was only looking for $250's

    • Thanks :)

      • 10am update. Still none at chase. Only 100 at the Westfield. They said they paused selling as there were problems with validation.

Might check later today if I don’t have luck at other stores. Going for a drive now.

        • None at crows nest.
          Only 100s at neutral bay.
          Sad

  • +1

I rarely see them on the shelf. Just 50/100s.

Always ask the front desk! They normally have them stashed away. They’ll give you a scam alert pamphlet too.

able to use at auspost for credit card bill?

    • Via PayPal maybe
      Auspost app posgbillpah

  • So are we limited to 5 of each per day (5x250,5x100) or 5 of any of the two cards?

    • +1

      5 giftcard / day

      • Thanks

  • None of the 250 cards were found at westfield doncaster at 12pm

  • luckily grabbed 3x 250 after 10am, thanks someone kindly left (forgot) on shelf :)

  • Did Prezzee block use of these cards? Keep getting error messages when trying to purchase gift cards using these.

    • +1

      Try connecting to PayPal first

      • I can't link the card to PayPal ask me to contact card issuer as they rejected. Now even can't check the balance on the https://www.mybalancenow.com/#/
        as system error.

        • +1

Can you check the balance over the phone? If you try to do that and the automater voice tells you there is an issue with your gift card, it means that InComm has blocked your gift card and you will need to talk to a rep to get that fixed.

          • +1

@WookieMonster: thank you, calling them now

          • +1

            @WookieMonster: https://www.mybalancenow.com/#/
as the website issue, so when I checked the balance on the website, as results my card put on hold, they release my card on the phone call. Thank you.

          • @WookieMonster:

InComm has blocked your gift card

Is this a new thing? Do cards randomly get blocked due to suspicion of fraudulent use?

            • @DoctorCalculon: If so, that's even scarier. Paying money for a card that is accepted "everywhere" only to have restrictions placed.

            • @DoctorCalculon: Back in the last deal in May, I purchased a Coles Mastercard gift card early in the morning, then later in the day used it in-person at two different merchants (and set a PIN when using at the first merchant). I changed the PIN through the website and tried to use it in-person at the third merchant the next day using the new PIN, but I got an error message on the EFTPOS terminal saying contact card issuer.

When I called InComm, the rep said that my gift card was blocked due to “suspicious activities”. I think me resetting the PIN online somehow came across as suspicious.

For anyone who plans to use these to pay an ATO debt, note that the 0.2% card fee via the ATO/Government EasyPay website is tax deductible as a cost of managing your tax affairs.

For example, if you pay $5,000 towards your tax using these, you can claim a $10.00 tax deduction (small amount, but a deduction is a deduction :D)

    • +1

      Oh nice tip

    • -2

I think you will find this is not true for individuals (maybe if a sole trader but not for personal income tax)

      • +1

The ATO have explicitly told me that it is claimable as a tax deduction for personal income tax, and the ATO website clearly states:

        Costs you can claim include:
some fees you incur when you pay your tax obligations by card, such as debit card fees when paying an individual tax liability

        • You're right - I searched (and others should do the same btw when taking tax advice from ozb) for individuals claiming credit card fee for tax payments, and there are a ton of matches that state this is not permissable, but as you point out these cards are actually levied the 0.2% debit (not credit) card fee and that is.

  • knowing these cards are not safe to keep for months
what do you guys recommend a secure way to keep them if I am wishing to buy an iPhone when there is another promotion (10% off at least)?
Amazon GC? apple store GC? Officework GC ?
    Thank you.

    • +3

You can purchase shopback Superswap and then swap the gift cards to whichever company has the best sale

      • thanks Kallo

    • +3

If you are interested in Ultimate gift cards, you may be able to purchase an Ultimate Everyone eGift Card from the Ultimate gift card website using a Coles Mastercard gift card.1 If you use the promo code EVERYONE you will save 5%. Yeah, not a 10% discount, but that is an okay deal if you want to use your Coles Mastercard gift cards now and are happy to put up with the restrictions of using Ultimate gift cards at JB Hi-Fi or Officeworks or The Good Guys.

If you are feeling brave and are happy to wait about a week or two, you could hold out to see whether there will be another 10% off Ultimate or TCN gift card deal sometime soon. I will note that Woolworths ran a 10% off Ultimate gift card deal around this time last year, so I wonder whether we will see something for Ultimate or TCN gift cards in the next week or two. I am not bold enough to look at my crystal ball to see what it is predicting…

      As an aside:

      • 10% off Amazon gift cards are quite hard to find. I think you would be holding onto Coles Mastercard gift cards for a while before you can use them to pay for any discounted Amazon gift cards.

      • 10% off (or more unusually, 15% off) Apple gift cards are easier to find, especially if you use an Ultimate gift card or TCN gift card purchased at a 10% (or 15%) discount to pay for it at JB Hi-Fi.

      • 10% off Officeworks gift cards are basically unheard of. Yes, some Ultimate gift cards can be redeemed at Officeworks, but Officeworks officially does not allow customers to use any gift cards to pay for any gift cards sold by them. Officeworks gift cards and Ultimate gift cards are not the same thing, which is why I am being particular…

      1. I say may, because there is a chance either Blackhawk Network (the website operator) or InComm (the gift card scheme owner) will not let you use a Coles Mastercard gift card on that website.

      • +1

        Legend!!!!!

        • from those partnerships i'd be interested for subway the most

idk if they allow splitting online thho ?

      • Just let you know, I tried to pay using the perfect eftpos gift cards to book my flight but card declined and agent called “square payment” as they are using square payment system( eftpos machine). Agent called them more than an hour to find out the problem. But they can’t fix the problem and finally they give the reason is sqare payment system doesn’t support prepaid card issued by blackchawk. Surprisingly square payment system accepted coles Master gift cards.

        • +1

That is only sort of true.

Square chooses to not accept swipe payments routed through the eftpos network, because they think it is not very secure, plus they think basically all issuers of eftpos cards now support chip and contactless, anyway. That means if you swipe any card supporting eftpos and attempt to route payment through the eftpos network, it will be rejected by Square.

For example, if you have a physical Restaurant Choice gift card or physical TCN Restaurant gift card and are at a restaurant using Square terminals, bad luck. I found this out the hard way recently when going to a restaurant using Square terminals. Both the staff and I were wondering why the terminal was rejecting my Perfect eftpos gift card after repeated swipes, but when I opted to use a Coles Mastercard gift card, it was fine!

I think Square is still accepting swipe payments from Visa, Mastercard etc, because there are still a lot of internationally-issued cards where swipe is still the main way to use them.

@WookieMonster: Thank you fir detailed information.

Just woke up finna have brekkie then roll out
    🏄

    • Left/arrived a bit later than planned last night~6pm.

      1st store 100s only
      2nd store none
      3rd store 100s only
4th store 250s - my small local came thru like last time, but only 5x left. Was planning to get 4 only on my Zip1k, but forgot and took an extra as it cut too close.

Might want to update more stores into my rotation.

      • Or even hide a day before like some have done

  • No $250s near me sadly, but I do have rates due and there were heaps of $100s so I just collected a $25 discount. Every little bit helps

    • Same walked past my local tonight and had heaps of $100 ones

My wife's flybuys wouldn't scan for the discount though ugh

  • None at Coles Earlwood, tried the aisle and service desk. Was told to come early in the morning

  • +2

Still none at Chatswood Chase and none at Neutral Bay.

    • Checked Westfield Parra. Seems like some stock came in around tea time…no stock in the morning but all 250s were gone before lunch! Guess those that aren't at work are the lucky ones.

100s are lying in abundance lol - I think those grabbing all the cards are predominantly looking to profit out of the 250.

        • haha @And3 - next time pls ping me…after the horrors of last month's promo, I thought that'd never stock up this round. PS: what time did you get them? Hoping to get something tomorrow :D

            • @And3: Damn - so that likely means these folks again didn't stock up for this promo or the staff split them internally -:(

              Sucks!

                • @And3: Precisely, you're proving my theory that this store just hasn't been stocking up. Been checking them quite frequently myself…no cigar

      • Any updates for cards at all for parra Westfield? $250.

        Tia

        • Checked this morning - the rude staff there simply said no stock, I don't know if it'll come in or when. From my experience last month and based on WookieMonster's comments, either these guys haven't been ordering stock or the staff have been pocketing it themselves without any card reaching the shelves.

I understand some managed to grab the cards prior to sale commencement, those were the lucky ones! Future looks bleak lol

  • need to buy 65 to pay some big bills but looks like i will have some trouble based on availability.

    • 5 per day you’ll need 13 days lol

      • My wife and i both have accounts so theoretically just 1 visit each per day if in stock

  • First 5 x $250 bought and immediately liquidated by prepaying health insurance. Great deal.

    • if u prepay PHI and u have direct debit setup, does the dd still kick in on the next pay date?

      • For Bupa, you need to manually adjust the next DD date. Can be easily done via Whatsapp.

        • I heard BUPA CS on WhatsApp is amazing, way better than ringing them

  • Attempted to pay a bill via post bill pay and the card got rejected with something along the lines of does not accept this type of payment.

Also only saw the two options if cheque and savings where it would usually show credit. I did try setting the pin and it still didn't work.

    Anyone else have this issue?

    • I am assuming this was in-person at an Australia Post shop or LPO? If you told the staff member you wanted to use a Mastercard and you were only given options to pay using Savings or Cheque after you swiped your card, it means that the biller does not accept Mastercard or Visa as a payment method.

      • Yes, it was in person at one of the smaller third party aus post outlets.

However I'm sure the biller accepts mastercard and Visa as I was able to use a 250 from the vanilla gift card promo earlier in the day for the same bill. Note this was actually an an aus post outlet.

        • Hmmm very strange.

I’m not sure whether the person at Australia Post has to specifically select on your terminal that you want to use a Mastercard or Visa when paying for a bill. That may explain it, but I am really not sure.

          • +1

            @WookieMonster:

I’m not sure whether the person at Australia Post has to specifically select … Mastercard or Visa

            They do.

Although I have heard tell that corporate Australia Post outlets accept a wider range of payment methods than LPO's and can 'force through' payments that would otherwise get rejected at an LPO terminal. I don't know if I believe it though.

  • -3

is there any easy way to turn these into cash? Can i PayPal pay a friend with it?

    • Yes you can top up your opal card and then call and ask them for a refund and give them your bank details

      • Same with myki, maybe you can diversify a bit. With mobile Myki you dont have to be in VIC during the process at all.

        • For those trying to do this with myki, don't use the mobile app to do this. Using the mobile app to top up they rejected my refund request and instead reversed the top up transactions.
With a physical machine top up, not sure they can reverse it without the card present.

          • @BrunoBear: Get a mobile myki, you can top up it directly inside google wallet. The refund will be back to your bank account.

  • Does someone know if these can be used to load up a myKi?

    • +1

you should be able to…although I haven't tried in VIC, but here in NSW the card works with Opal app for topups

    • +1

I have used Coles Mastercard gift cards to top up myki cards at the top up / purchase machines you see at some stations and stops. I have not tried other top up methods (e.g. online, over the phone, at third-party top up agents), but I am sure others can help you there.

I think the only prepaid gift cards that are not accepted at the myki machines are prepaid gift cards that cannot support a PIN (e.g. Vanilla Visa gift cards), because the myki machines appear to mandate you provide a PIN.

    • +1

Yes you can, I have done it in the past.

      • Thanks! this is only for myki money though right, you couldnt pay a yearly pass with these cards i am guessing

        • Update: Can confirm, top-up worked without an issue online using the app.

  • Waverley Gardens VIC had none at 1:30pm. No where to be seen, and no empty shelf space to indicate they were ransacked. Asked front staff and they told me to go check the gift cards shelf. These cards are so elusive.

    • +1

I wouldn't be surprised. For the best luck try in the morning, otherwise it literally depends on when the restock comes in.

      • Yeah, have to keep visiting the stores to check for stock.

  • stores in ACT haven't got stock delivered

  • Bought the card in the morning, then login and set the pin

Now when I try to check the balance it return system error, all the 4 cards I bought have the same issue
