Wife needs a new phone but holding out for EOFY, hopefully can string some discounts together for a 14/14+

    • +7

Has her heart set on a 15

    • +6

      Literally what this deal is.

      • +1

They’ve regularly been at this price/lower.

        • Any links to previous better deals on the iPhone 14? My daughter is looking to get one and the $200 off, whcih i assume can be combined with discounted gift cards, is the best i have seen. That would take it down to about $250 off.

        • Any better deals come along? Didn't see any.

    • +9

A solid C-. Sizzling start, but the conclusion petered out after the climax. Work on capitalisation, ellipses, and sentence length.

member since 1 hr ago is that you jv?

    • +2

at least post a deal before you start begging for codes in a completely unrelated deal

Cheaper price on the 13 a year ago, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/710581. Lets all blame Phillip Lowe

    • +1

iPhone 13 128GB RRP was $1349 the same time last year, Telstra offered $350 off at the time before iPhone 14 releases. And iPhone 13 128GB RRP dropped to $1229 after iPhone 14 released. The discounts are not that great but it got nothing to do with the RBA tbh. I would expect similar discounts before iPhone 15 releases this year.

      • +2

Money costs more these days. That has a lot to do with RBA.
Mind you I am old enough to think 7% home loans was a good deal, and for too long the cost of money has been in fact too low.

Plus inflation running at more than 7% when Apple only adjusts phone prices once a year would mean the Australian Apple tax is severely eroded and for all we know Apple may be hitting up retailers a tad.

And finally, the AUD is worth less against the USD than last year.

        • I mostly agree what you said, but my point still stands as the pricing or discounts would depend on the supply and demand, if Apple has troubles to move some of their product stocks, iPhone 14/plus in this instance, they will offer more discounts to the resellers.

          • @Xzibit: The 15 will no doubt increase in price over the current 14.

            • @entropysbane: Not gonna argue that 15 will be more expensive but I thought we are talking about the discounts on iPhone 13 or iPhone 14 that already released to the market?

  • Can I get apple to price match this? Have gift cards.

    • +3

They price match JB up to 10% max

      • That means for iPhone 13 apple's price match would be none the wiser

    • What did they say when you asked? A more helpful response is above.

    • I tried to PRICE match 14 plus 128 gb and they said that best price they can offer is $1421 with delivery. Not $1379 as advertised by JB.

    • yes see my comment below for reference.

  • Telstra store also has the same sale for iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max.

Perhaps you can use ultimate gift cards to get further 10 percent off and GST back if you are traveling overseas in the next 60days.

    • Can you claim tax refund for products purchased with gift card? Actually thinking about buying the pro max for my mum as a gift.

      • Yes, you can. I have done it before paid by gift cards, the invoice still shows the GST you paid for the phone.

Only to be price matched already at Officeworks 😔

    • they surely have some sort of tracker program behind the scenes working to stop everyone from price beating 😢

      • Likely, it's similar to coles and woolies price matching on different things, e.g. coles does the special this week, woolies next.

Or, someone does the first price match, then immediately this rings alarm bells to head office, who will immediately price match.

      • +3

The team manually check prices twice daily, batches of tickets get sent to the stores 2-3 times a day and I've once seen 4 different prices for the same macbook SKU in one shift. I reckon there's some automation somewhere that notifies the pricing team about competitors updating, but I don't know much more since I just work in a store

        • thanks for the accurate info

  • -2

Suprised at the comments that this would be better in a few months? Do you really think iPhone 14 128gb is going to be much less than $1199 in the next month, with the 15 coming out out, cost of goods generally keep going up with cost of living?? I just don't see it. Maybe in 12 months iPhone 14 could be $1029 but it wouldn't be this year.

    • Well, it will be superseded in September at which the price of the 14 will drop, and on down the line.
But if you need a phone right now….

      • -2

I know, but you really think it's going to be over $200 cheaper again? I can't see it getting less than or equal to $1029 for a long time yet?

  • +1

I just called Apple and got them to price match the iPhone 14 Pro Max 256G to $1889 from $1997 at Officeworks. (They even allowed me to use the account balance so giftcards)

    You're welcome.

    • Do they price match online or do you have to call them

      • Call

        • Just called them to price match the 14 pro max was easy ty

    • I called Apple and they said they won't price beat but price match. How did you manage to get them to price beat?

  • I got a brand new but box opened 14+ in April with eBay sale for AU $1,209.00, Im sure better discounts can be had

    • +1

So you saved $170 and you risked getting a box with a potato in it, being a gray import with less warranty or having been activated therefore ineligible for applecare+?

Doesn't seem worth it. And once the box is open it's not brand new anymore.

      • -1

It was an ex display model from a physical store in Brisbane and eBay/Paypal protections so not much risk but thanks for the judgement anyway…Never activated and all the Apple offers valid (music, news, fitness) taken up by me, That'll Do Pig, That'll Do…

    • +1

As per the last reply if it was a price seller or grey import it's hardly worth the risk but having said that if you bought from an Australian retailer through eBay then well done sir!

      • Thank you

        • +1

You got lucky I just bought from eBay IPhone 14+ for $1090 brand new in box when I tried to activate the phone it came up with a company vpn which looked like one of those rent to buy things lucky I got my money back as the seller never mentioned that said the old crap sorry I never knew it was my company phone…

  • +1

14 or wait for 15? Coming from a slowly degrading XS.

    • +1

wait for 15 I reckon, if you like the dynamic island thing. Rumoured USB-C, faster chips and probably better colours. If you don't like the 15s on launch just pick a reduced price on a 14

  • what's the process of getting Apple to price match up to 10% online?

    • I would like to know this as well

  • +5

Need a 13 mini deal, hasn’t been one for ages

    • +2

      This!

Picked up the cheap 12 mini but really regret not getting the 13 mini 512gb for 1k!!

  • +1

Red iPhone 14 512GB $1503.90. 5 available. Nearly $200 cheaper than JB at allphones ebay with seofy20

  • Called them and price matched successful was very easy

  • +2

Can i apply for this credit card https://www.commbank.com.au/credit-cards/credit-cards-offers…

And buy this phone using the above credit card to avail $250 cashback offer? I have never had credit card in my life, so not sure if it will work. Aiming for iphone 14 plus 128

  • I tried calling Apple twice (to try and match the iPhone 13/$1029)- both wouldn't price match as they claim they can only discount by 10% they say

  • Called Apple and price matched. Was able to use Apple gift cards over phone. Thanks OP!
