    • I received mine last week. I know it is not the same but this works on a 2021 Camry Hybrid. Although it does seem to disconnect every so often but it reconnects again later. Haven't checked updates or anything.

    • +1

Got mine delivered last week and it works great with our Corolla Cross.

You know whats better than this?

    Chargie

Less hassle and you get to keep your phone charged without concerns about overcharging. Or just have a phone that permits charge limits.

  • +2

Keep in mind that if you have an EV and the usb ports remain active whilst charging or while the vehicle is recharging the 12v (I.e. Kia, Hyundai, Genesis, others?) then your phone will keep connecting to carplay whilst you aren’t in the vehicle. Even if you are already on a call in your house using the phone or AirPods it will keep switching back to the car multiple times. It’s extremely annoying and there’s no solution other than to wire in physical switches or relays into the cars usb port. Android doesn’t have this problem as it can be disabled when the phone isn’t connected to the car Bluetooth.

Other than that major annoyance with EVs these units work great and can be patched/updated OTA.

    • Thanks for the heads up, its why I held off on other devices.

I am android, so will make sure I setup the disable setting when bluetooth disconnets.

  • Anyone tried this in a Tesla?

    • +1

I didn't think Tesla's had Apply carplay or android auto.

  • Anybody know the difference between the 2air vs 5.0? Some sellers on AE offer both options with the 2air being a dollar or so cheaper. Btw it should be cheaper with the AE upsized CR cashback tonight.

  • i have something similar, but never use it. i need to charge my phone anyways and it connects to CarPlay while it charges. +1 for multitasking.

Got it - works great on my Sony headunit with CarPlay from both my wife's phone and my phone.
Will need to figure out the best way to switch devices but other than that, I'm happy.

  • +2

For anyone interested - my item arrived tonight. Took about 60 seconds to connect and sync. Connected to wifi after for the update but it was already the latest version.

Connected both my wife’s phone and my phone. When loading up (about 10-15 seconds), a screen will pop up suggesting which phone you want to connect. (It will auto default to the last connected phone). Both our phones popped up and the touch screen allowed us to simply select which one and it connected no dramas. (Only the first connection on each device required any approval on the iPhones).

So essentially, completely hands free after the first connect. Super happy with it. Small test identified no lag or anything and the ability to switch between the two phones was easy and efficient.

Running on a 2019 Subaru Forester.

    • Thanks for the feedback, still waiting for mine, looks like the tracking number doesn't exist in the courier's website.

    • So the Carlinkit UI says "select device from list once connected" (or there abouts) is this the point you can select which device you want to use? Do you need to force the device to connect to bluetooth first or does selecting the device make it connect?
In theory could you just disable "Auto connect" and always have to choose?

I cant test this today so wondering if you have.

      • Ok yeah this worked. Nice.

  • My order has been stuck in ‘Warehouse Transferring’ for a week. Guessing they oversold these and ran out of stock? Anyone else have this status?

    • Mine is on - Planning Depart 2023-06-22 08:00

  • Got mine and works great! But I'm not able to open the webpage 192.168.50.2 to upgrade just in case.

    • Same here, let me know if you find a way to update it.

    • +2

Android auto? you need to connect to the wifi hotspot first.

  • +1

Does anyone know how to get the phone selection menu up on the screen? I've turned off auto connect via the carlinkit menu but I'm having to go into my phone blutooth setting to connect to it. Would rather have the selection done on the car itself.

Not interested in it auto connecting to the last connected phone. Seems to be a massive pain to get it to swap to another device needing to disconnect from the other device itself first

  • Need to buy a car wireless charging pad if your car is not already equipped since you need to charge your phone especially when using power draining apps such as maps

  • my car doesnt have android/carplay :((

    • That'll learn me for buying while away.
Have anew car and online says it had Android auto. Turns out it doesnt :(

Something like this is good for cars that don't have Carplay or Android Auto, and you don't want to replace the headunit https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/nanocam--nanocam-connect…

Can get similar stuff from Amazon/aliexpress too.

      • interestin thanks !

does it connect to USb, or need to car battery?

Compatible with iOS 13.0 or higher or Android 11.0 or higher

Andyy11 minimum would be an issue, my phones a10

I have this one from Supercheap, I think I got it for slightly cheaper than the price now, comes with cigarette plug and usb-c to the unit. I am not too sure about Android though. I will see if I have an older android phone that I can test sometime, I have been using an iPhone 12.

  • I got mine yesterday and tested on my car with two android phones. It was easy to connect and works great despite a few small quirks.

The only way I could switch android phones was to disconnect both Bluetooth and Wifi on the connected phone (eg turn on flight mode). The device will then auto switch to the next android phone after around 20 seconds. I did not get any option to select phones during start up, so I suspect this is only in apple car play, not android auto.

Accessing the config screen was very troublesome because of various android automations that I didn't want to turn off (eg location-based wifi, android auto starting up). I ended up going away from home, connecting the carlinkit device to a power bank, turning off bluetooth, connecting to the carlink wifi and going to 192.168.50.2.
    Here's a useful guide.

The config screen did not find any software updates. I used the config screen to change the wifi and bluethooth names. At some point the logo indicator light on the device stopped working, but that's not necessarily a bad thing for me.

For anyone having intermittent disconnection issues, I found changing the cable it came with seemed to solve my problem.

Finally got mine delivered. In the settings menu (accessed via 192.168.50.2) does anyone know what Sync Mode and Background does ?

  • +2

Got mine a few days ago.

Setup with Android was painless. I have a feeling the audio quality is slightly affected. Possibly using a different codec?

Wireless lag indiscernible compared to the wired connection.

In 300km of driving the audio has dropped out maybe 3 times for about 1/2 a second. No screen drop outs.

I just did a 4+ hour drive using this and it was flawless for CarPlay. Podcast and maps.

Rep the code has expired - can you make it active again? I want to purchase another.
