if this is the same (I think it is) https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0BZWCWL53?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_…

I got this a couple of weeks ago from amazon and really happy with it.

    • $100 cheaper at lightinthebox!

      • $66 AUD cheaper

      • But if it doesn’t work you can return free at amazon

  • +1

Got the 2022 version, happy with it. The only issue bothers me is the lagging during phone calls. Hope they have addressed it in this new version.

  • Any deals on the Tbox?

  • +1

    It shows $72 for me?

    • +3

Edit: removed the insurance to make it $69. Thanks OP

      • Yes Thank you

  • +1

Had anyone purchased from lightinthebox before? Would love to know your experience as reviews are not great.

    • +1

interested to know as well. the same kit is available on Amazon for quite a bit more and hence just feels fishy..

      • Amazon Always Charge Much more from Sellers. thats why directly selling from own brand website or China marketplace website is always cheaper than Amazon.

    • +2

Used them many years ago, no drama then.

    • +5

yeah i purchased the wireless carplay deal from a week or two ago for $79 aud quick shipping and all works fine

    • +2

They've been quiet for the last five years, but were very active before that. They're another Chinese(?) marketplace, like banggood and aliexpress. I have bought from them a few times back then without problems except for one time. The one time I had some problems with a fake MicroSD card, the Ozb rep at the time arranged for a refund and a free replacement to fix the issue.

      • +2

Back in the old days their sales manager was adamant on beating Gearbest no matter the cost. Now we all know what happened to Gearbest with their loss leading.

No wonder LITB took a while to recover 😝

    • Used to be hit and miss mainly miss with getting incorrect items on orders and non existent support to resolve the issues after. Thought they went bust, interesting to see if they have more positive reviews nowadays?

    • +2

Bought a Xiaomi tv box and Broadlink products from them yonks ago, had no issues.

    • Ok, after watching dinico's video linked below it's worth give these guys a shot. Will post and let everyone know if the service is any good.

  • +5

Thanks OP, just bought. Have wanted wireless CarPlay for a while now and this seems like a good option with minimal lag. I’m interested in testing the boot time as this was one of the main reasons I’ve used a cable for so long.

    • Same here, fingers crossed it operates as intended.

      • -1

Apaprently boot time is 18 seconds. See below. Given it's a youtube review I would double that boot time. Yt is full of liars and shills.

    • You Welcome

  • Coupon doesn’t work “Spend US $148.00 to use this coupon”

    • I get same issue.

      • +2

        Still working via PC.

    • The code only seems to work when using AUD

      • Yes I think so

  • OP. Code doesn't work.

    • +3

Still working on my end via PC.

Can this device be paired with multiple phones?

I am looking for wireless Android Auto adapted that support multiple phones and ideally enables easy switching between them. So far, I have only come across one device, carsifi that can do the easy switching.

    • +3

Ottocast let's you pair 2 phones and at boot you select which one you want connected

    • I want to know this as well. I’m on ios and wife on android. Both of us use this car. So quite keen to know if this unit can handle switching between the devices seamlessly?

      • +1

I believe you can connect two phones with this adaptor, but it auto-connects to the last connected phone when powered. I expect that switching phones will need to be done by disconnecting at Bluetooth controls on the first phone and then connecting with the Bluetooth controls on the second phone.

It looks like Carsify has the easiest switching, but around double the cost of this one on AmazonUS.

    • +1

I have the older CarlinKit 4.0 and it lets you connect to multiple phones, you see a selection menu on boot.

      • Where do you make that section? Is there an option in the car display?

        • Apologies, I just dug out the manual, it seems it's only for the CarPlay function that you get presented the menu of devices. Just watched a couple of reviews of the new version and the Android Auto demo's don't bring up that menu like they do with CarPlay.

          • @Rockets84: Thanks for the update. Hopefully Android Auto will add that functionality at some point.

  • Will this unit work on a Subaru XV MY18 infotainment (factory) system?

    • +2

Any vehicle or aftermarket stereo that has factory AA (Android Auto) &/or AC (Apple CarPlay) operating.

      • +1

This product only works for vehicles with factory CarPlay or Android Auto, not for Aftermarket Android Screen Cars.

    • +1

Can you use a USB cable to connect your phone to your car and get android auto (for android phone) and/or apply car play (for iphone)?
If no, then these type of devices weren't intended for your phone/car combination. If yes, then these type of devices should work.

  • I'm not sure about the v5 air version, but I've bought a few of the 4's and 3's from Ali - Seems to be the same as the sale price from lightbox

    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005539044325.html?spm=a2…

    • +1

The 5.0 introduces dual compatibility with carplay/aa wired systems. 4.0 & 3.0 were only compatible with carplay systems, so if you had an AA headunit system, you would've needed carlinkit's A2A.

They also say they've made adjustments to the air flow design which should let it run cooler. 5.0 is slightly smaller than 4.0, and is about 100g lighter.

Weirdly, the Bluetooth version seems to have downgraded to 4.1 from 5.2. Not sure why, nor the impact this will have.

Anyone can recommend a CarPlay head unit for Toyota Camry Altise 2006? I can replace it myself but I just can’t seem to find a wireless one that sure to fit.

Not sure which "2006" model you have. Check those links
I grabbed one of those Junsun HU's for our Sportage and it's awesome.

      • +2

Thanks mate! The second link seems the one.

        • +2

make sure you view the model table & purchase the correct model, only V1 Plus & V1 Pro C have AA/CP wireless, V1 Pro is wired. Plus I would get a model with minimum 2G ram, more if possible &/or in budget.

        • +2

No drama. As adinico mentioned, grab the better spec'd variant. I'd suggest the 4gb ram / 64gb storage model.

      • There are some ATOTO branded wireless carplay/auto models in Amazon. Chek em out!

  • I'm new to this device, is this device is compatible to apple phones and Android phones? I have an apple phone looking for carplay. Thanks

  • +3

Can anyone confirm the boot time from car start?
I have another one currently and it takes about 15-30 seconds before it loads my CarPlay

    • +4

There's a review on YouTube, it shows just over 18 seconds.

    • +2
    • +2

Thanks for raising this. I’d prefer to just plug it in.

  • +4

I find the downside of wireless CP/AA is the quicker drain to the battery. Unless you have access to wireless charging, you'll find yourself plugging in anyway.

    • +3

It drains no faster than having GPS on all the time and be in use on your phone. Since that is exactly what it is doing. By having it plugged in you are just charging the phone while it drains.

Unfortunately geolocation services drains quite a bit of battery.

I only plug it in for long trips otherwise for city drives I use it mainly on Waze to alert me on speed traps etc

    • +6

The android play USB slot in my car does not fast charge my phone. This means I end up having to pick either fast charging using my Cigarette Lighter slot charger with no android auto or slower charging with android auto. The wireless AA enables me to fast charge my phone while using AA.

      • I find it's fine for most of my drives and stops me leaving my phone in the car as it can remain in my pocket. Good point about fast charging.

  • Seen a lot of posts online about these dual units. They apparently piggyback off the carplay connection to emulate Android auto (or something to that effect) and can introduce lag when using AA? Anyone got experience?

    • I had the previous version, and it converted android auto to apple carplay protocol, and it was slow as hell. Lagging, no two finger pinch-to-zoom etc. It also prevented my android phone to simultaneous connect using bluetooth, so no steering wheel controls to answer the phone worked.

This version seems to not convert to apple carplay from the video review linked above, so might work better. Still need to confirm if two finger pinch-to-zoom works, and if phone over bluetooth still works.

    • +2

I asked carlinkit directly, and they confirmed that the 5.0 converts both AA/Carplay from their respective protocols. Similar to how the A2A converts direct from android auto, and the 4.0 converts direct from carplay.

Should not experience any extra latency.

  • Coupon works only if site is set to AUD, not USD.
Comes up as $72.12 AUD shipped

edit: remove shipping insurance for $69 AUD

  • Why doesn't it work with aftermarket units? I have a Sony XAVAX5000

    • +2

I have one too and ordered one to try.

    • This works with aftermarket units.

    • +1

I was using a CarlinKit 4.0, which I believe is the previous version, with a Sony XAV-AX1000 for CarPlay and it worked most of the time. I changed cars and the CarlinKit 4.0 only worked occasionally with the integrated infotainment. Reading the forums for the new car and people were recommending the Ottocast U2-X Pro for CarPlay or the AAwireless for Android Auto. I switched to the Ottocast and it works every time with the new car and connects much faster than the CarlinKit 4.0 ever did. It appaers that different head units seem to work better with different wireless CarPlay or Android Auto adapters and sometimes it's a bit of trial and error to find one that works reliably.

      • Awesome, I actually have the AX3000 so same software.

  • +2

Wanted one of these for a while, $70 is about the right price. Thanks OP!

  • +1

Have been wanting to get one of these for a while now.
Finally gave in today, good deal!

    Thanks OP

  • +1

Thanks OP. looking for it long time. hope its work as expect.

  • +1

Great deal, even cheaper than ali express with the added bonus of free+fast delivery.

  • "Coupon code doesn't exist" for me. AUD Selected.

UPDATE: Remove shipping insurance. ADD Coupon. READD Insurance if you want it.

  • how does this compare to AAwireless?

    • This has Apple carplay.

  • -4

    This is wired Android auto.
    Get the AA Wireless.
Had it for a year, best thing ever. Plug play and forget.
Even supports split screen for wider screens.

    • This is a wireless Android auto adapter. AAwireless is well rated, but I've only found it at around $180, which is more double the price of this one.

  • +1

    Thanks op, got one.

  • Thanks OP, hopefully it arrives!

  • +1

    Ordered, thanks OP.

  • Anyone know what channel width this uses over the 5GHz band and/or if it's configurable?

    Got one. Thanks OP

  • I have an AA Wireless which will not connect to my new Toyota corolla hybrid 2023 but did connect to my old car Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 2020 with no problem. AA wireless tech support have been unable to help me set it up on the new car.

I wonder if this will work on the new Toyota corolla hybrid 2023?
