Google Pixel 7 128GB $699 Delivered @ Telstra (Telstra ID Required)

410

Best price I have found so far for the 128gb Pixel 7. Metro delivery is free. I am currently seeing if price match is available, but have had issues before since the deal is only available to those who are existing Telstra customers.

  • Decent. I should have waited and gotten this instead of the S23.

    • +3

      I love my S23
Pixel is huge and I dislike huge phones (have used all Pixel flagship models)

    • +5

Really; why? The S23 is by most objective metrics a superior phone. Interested to hear your thoughts.

It's a brilliant phone. I came from a Pixel 7 Pro to the S23 and I loved the clean software on the pixel and the camera which is much much better than the S23.

I want a smaller phone and out of the S23 and the Pixel 7, I would go for the S23 any day but software wise, pixel is still ahead.

I think the S23 battery would still be slightly better than the Pixel 7. And the screen too but I take a lot of pictures so the camera is a deal breaker for me.

The S23's camera isn't terrible by all means but the pixel is a lot better is my opinion.

        • Interesting. I'd have thought that the chipset, brighter screen and extra features would more than make up for the minor differences between the cameras.

          • +1

@chrisandrew: If you're not going to take full advantage of the chip (screens are pretty much the same, both are 1080 btw, only difference, the pixel is 90hz and S23 is 120hz which apparently you can't notice).

For the price difference, is not justifiable tbh. For $699 and the S23 for $1350. I would get the Pixel 7 and sell it and get the Pixel 8 when it comes it and still have some extra cash. 🙃

        • I had bought both a s23 and pixel 7 the past month and I personally preferred the s23 camera a lot more than the pixel 7 one. Much prefer the sharper photos in s23 over the darkened version in pixel 7.

          • +1

@Hartal: I like the more natural look in photos which is why I prefer the more true to life photos of the pixel. But like I said earlier, the S23 does not have a terrible camera so it's very much usable.

    • Only thing pixel does well is the camera, rest of the phone is mid-tier parts.

      • +2

For normal daily use, mid tier does more than the job and cameras stand out nicely if you have precious family photos to take.

The Pixel 7 Pro is $949 on Telstra store too

  • +5

Not quite the best price but still decent! I paid 749 for mine (via Telstra back in Dec) and it's a great phone. Only two gripes with it is the fingerprint sensor is worse than my Pixel 5 substantially, and battery life isn't amazing for a brand new phone frankly.

    • Can confirm. Battery was ok for me but that was coming from the XS Max with 85% battery life so not a very high bar to pass there. Certain things were quite nice like the Listen Nearby features for songs (kind of like Shazam) and other customising features are quite nice (especially the Files system and email as iPhone is just a mess really.

    • Fingerprint sensors must vary wildly between people… I never got my Pixel 5 to work remotely well. I ended up returning it because I had about a 60% hit rate with it. That was after I exchanged one because I thought mine might be faulty. Meanwhile, i find my Pixel 7 Pro fingerprint sensor flawless…

      • My Nexus 6p, P2, P5 all had flawless sensors.. My P7 after several updates is MOSTLY reliable now, at least for my left hand, right hand thumb just doesn't register well so.. Eh. Pre-updates (when I first got the phone) it was awful, however.

        • My Pixel 7 sensor works flawless every time. I usually re-register my fingerprint again, if there are issues scanning with any of my phones. Maybe worth an effort to try to re-registering your thumb again to see if it improves.

$650 at Google store via student beans

    • I believe that offer is no longer available.

      • You're right.

Could still get 10% off 7a (similar phone) to bring it down to $674.10

Nothing beats the jbhifi deal a few weeks back!

  • +1

JBHiFi Online chat confirmed they do not match the Telstra outright deals as it's for existing customers. I previously have had Officeworks match in store, but I have heard that it's a luck-of-the-draw on who you chat to as to whether they will beat/price match.

  • So annoyed I just got the 6 for not much less a month or two ago

  • -5

Pixel 8 coming in 7 weeks. Hodl.

    • +2

Where are you getting this info from?

Most pixel flagships release in October.

      • -2

Out of thin air where all the BS comes from. There's no Pixel 8 in manufacturing yet. And if it was coming in 7 weeks it would have been in manufacturing and the news about the product would be all over the internet. It's still in the design stage.

But apparently Pixel 8 is going to get a new and better camera. But we're still a long way from getting Pixel 8 in store shelves.

When they only just released Pixel 7 a few months ago?. I don't think so.

      • +1

It's been out for well over 6 months

        • And made redundant by pixel 7a being so similar

          • @silenthillrocks: And this is cheaper than a 7a for an objectively better built phone with startlingly similar specs, bigger screen and faster charging.

            • @nitens: You're comparing retail price to a sale price. Just wait for 7a to go on sale. If you have StudentBeans, you can already get 7a for $674.10.

              • @silenthillrocks: I'm comparing "I need to replace my phone now" prices. Right now at this price I'd say 7 is the go… if 7 goes back to RRP then there's obviously value in the 7a. That student beans deal (if you can get it) is highly dependent on how much you value the google credit. 7 is still a better deal for $25 more if you won't use the google bucks effectively.

        • Yeah but it's not as if it's been out for a year or more. 6 or 8 months ago is not that long ago on the market.

If I buy this Pixel 7 from Telstra is it unlocked or only works with Telstra clients?

    • If you purchase outright then its unlocked.
