China Southern: London from SYD $1320, MEL $1298, ADL $1368, SYD to Amsterdam $1163 via Guangzhou (June-Aug) @ Google Flights

70

There have been some decent Euro fares around lately but these are the best I've seen for dates during this summer.
These are on China Southern via Guangzhou, except for Adelaide departures which have an extra stop in Sydney, and the first leg on Qantas. Includes bags, food, etc.
Amsterdam fares are only available from Sydney, and dates are quite limited for those.

Fares as follows:

Sydney - Amsterdam $1163
Sydney to London $1320
Melbourne to London $1298
Adelaide to London $1368

If there is a long stop (over 8 hours) China Southern may provide you with a free hotel room (they definitely did this in the past, not 100% sure what the conditions are now but worth checking!).

You guys! Is there any airline that OzBargainers actually like?
China Southern is a 4-star airline according to Skytrax, along with Air New Zealand, British Airways, Emirates, Etihad, KLM and a bunch of others.

Its rather known flying via China as a Connection is painful, Ive not done it but between friends the strike rate is over 50% of somebody's connecting flight being delayed, also everybody has said the planes are practically like being on a high school kids excursion.
Personal ive flown Thai Airways & Vietjet and had the absolute best experience for Asian Airlines.

          • @JPNx: That wasn't my experience, and I've flown China Southern more than once to Europe. Yep, Guangzhou airport isn't great, but its just an airport - for me its worth it to get a good bargain flight :)

  • think there's an extra digit in there…

Political correctness please! That's what he says.

    • Thanks, fixed

      • Op, I think it should read $1163 instead of $1683….

  • London or Amsterdam Return $11683 ?? Too expensive :)

I would pay 10K not to fly to europe with china southern again.
First leg was torture with everyone yelling and the food was unedible.
4 hour stop over in Guangzhou turn into 8 hours local vendor at airport charged a bomb to for food and drink. and vending machine only took local currency.
second leg was air france, no yelling this time, food was much better. but old plane and very cramped even for economy.
    never again.

    • I have flown with them to Europe more than once, and did not find it to be torturous at all. I have also done the long overnight stop in Guangzhou, where they gave me a hotel room, food vouchers and transfers. Would do it again for sure, when the price is right :)

I am a cheap skate for sure even flying to europe using Jetstar/Norwegian Air Hack a few times. But this was the worst Guangzhou airport is not a great place to be stuck for 8 hours. The second leg wasnt so bad. The plane I flew on was too old to still be in service. It had ash trays

        • ashtrays! lol

        • What is this hack of which you speak?

  • $11683

  • whats this about a free hotel room? how do you enquire about this? I just booked these flights 2 days ago so very curious

    • Have a look at the info here. But I would also call them and ask about their STPC (stopover paid by carrier) policy.

      • Usually no room. That was a brief one off deal. A lot of stopovers are 18 hours!

  • Very good deal given how close we are to euro summer, layover is brutal but I had to book back last October to get even near that price. Mind you, its into Manchester from Melb July, and out of Paris to Melb August, with Singapore Airlines and is optimal layovers. That cost me $1500.
So this is a good deal if you are happy to take a longer route to get there.

    Any deals from Bris?

    • +1

There were a couple around $1350 if you wanted to go for a month but the layovers were brutally long so I left them out

  • Is it because of 2022 China southern airline crash that the prices are low?

    • That was China Eastern. Completely different airline.

  • Many have 18 hr stopover. Painful
