Would it be a 10% off Ultimate gift card deal if I did not share some tips?

    • Some Woolworths stores may still stock Ultimate (eftpos) gift cards, which are the older version of the gift cards pictured in this deal. If you do not know about the differences between the Visa and eftpos versions (and want to know why I would generally avoid the eftpos version anyway), please look here. Woolworths has been pretty good at not stocking the Ultimate (eftpos) gift cards in recent times, but I did see a stack of Ultimate Him (eftpos) gift cards for sale at a Woolworths supermarket a couple of months ago.

    • Ultimate (Visa) gift cards are redeemable instore at some of the participating retailers, redeemable online at some of the participating retailers and can be exchange for some participating retailers' digital gift cards. Please refer to the Ultimate gift card website for more information on how you can redeem them at a particular participating retailer.

    • If you want to know the correct list of participating retailers and redemption options, please look at the Ultimate gift card website. The gift card packaging is not the source of truth for participating retailers, unless you are looking for gift cards redeemable at Supercheap Auto, rebel, BCF or Drummond Golf. To be fair, if you want gift cards redeemable at Supercheap Auto, rebel or BCF, you are probably better off going to Coles.

    • The maximum fixed denominations I have seen for Ultimate gift cards sold at Woolworths recently have been $50 (Eats, Kids, Students, Teens) and $100 (Active & Wellness, Baby & Mum, Beauty & Spa, Her, Him, Home, Style/Shopping, Thanks). If you are looking to purchase a very expensive item from a participating retailer (e.g. JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys), it may or may not be possible to use a stack of Ultimate gift cards as the payment method. If you are unsure, feel free to ask and the community will try to help out where it can.

    • Particularly observant people will notice that the Ultimate Gaming & Bites gift card is not listed in the catalogue, and that is likely due to Woolworths not stocking them. I have checked the gift card shelves at a number of Woolworths supermarkets over the last week and have not seen them stocked there. However, I have no idea the reason that the Ultimate Everyone gift card is missing from this deal (even though it is sold in the $100 denomination)… maybe it hints at Blackhawk Network having them being sold at Woolworths at 10% off on a later date?

    • Same old question can you swap these for e-gift cards at jb hifi online

      • +2

        Maybe.

A more detailed answer can be found in the FAQ, but…

        • JB Hi-Fi may cancel online orders for JB Hi-Fi gift cards paid using an Ultimate gift card, due to Riskified - a third-party tool used on JB Hi-Fi’s online store to determine whether a transaction is likely to be fraudulent - flagging such a purchase as being potentially fraudulent.

        • If JB Hi-Fi does not cancel an order for a JB Hi-Fi gift card paid using an Ultimate gift card, it will only permit a maximum of two orders of JB Hi-Fi gift cards per person per calendar day. Any attempts to purchase more JB Hi-Fi gift cards on the same calendar day will be unsuccessful.

        • +1

Gave me x1 of each (using Visa card number & ApplePay) after which cancelled order emails received.

      • better go in to a store to do the swap. the physical JB gift cards can then be used online without any problems.

        • That’s ok if you home and can get to a store.

          • @bwatt72: yes, that is correct. no one is going to give out discounts for people to shop from the comfort of their homes, unfortunately.

    • +9

Honestly Wook, you deserve a lifetime achievement award for every post regarding gift cards.

    • Any issues with Ultimate Everyone Digital gift cards for Officeworks online purchases? Payments failed twice (different cards) for me in the last month. I had to spend them at JB Hi-Fi online instead.

      • +1

A number of people have told me this year that the Officeworks website has not been accepting payments from their Ultimate / Celebration gift cards.

If this happens again, it could be worth contacting Officeworks at 1300 OFFICE and asking whether they can help process the online payment, because you are doing nothing wrong. Officeworks is listed as accepting Ultimate / Celebration gift cards through their website (as well as instore). I suspect some sort of security verification is causing Ultimate / Celebration gift cards to be blocked…

        • +1

          Thank you.

  • +1

Limit of 10 cards per day per Rewards Member

But doesn't require Everyday Rewards for the discount…

    • That’s the mystery.

I strongly suspect that is an error caused by someone at Woolworths copying/pasting terms from previous gift card deals and not editing that out… but there is a remote chance it hints at the fact that an Everyday Rewards membership is required for this deal.

Woolworths’ checkouts will not let you purchase more than ten gift cards per transaction, so maybe that is what that part of the terms is trying to say.

    • yup, missing 900 pts ($4.5)

  • Here we go again…

  • Great tips thanks.

  • +2

Any way to use coles MC to get these bad boys?

    • I think it should work (but will wait for someone to confirm)

      • Yeah i need to use coles MC as well

        • +4

I've bought Ultimate GCs at Woolworths through self serve and staffed registers with Coles Mastercard Gift Cards and Vanilla Visa cards as recently as Easter 2023.

          • @daanish: Did you swipe them or used manual card entry?

            • @nnaa8287: Woolworths don't allow card not present/MOTO transactions.

              I had physical cards.

          • @daanish: Did you do split payments or did you just purchase under the $250 amount?

            • +1

@TechNerd: When I bought them back on the Easter long weekend this year I was able to do split payments on Self Serve and Staffed registers. It was a mix of physical Coles Mastercard Gift Cards and Vanilla Visa cards.

    • yes, as long as your Coles MC has enough to cover the purchase. if you try to do a split payment, staff will be alerted and once they come over, they will decline your transaction

      • I paid for Ultimate gift cards with split transactions on my Coles MCs this morning and the staff didnt seem to care.

  • -1

    I successfully used before

  • Can i use these to buy an iphone at jbhifi? Will they let me use a stack?

    • +5

Last year I did use a stack of this at JB Hi-Fi, however it's sometimes on the discretion of the staff. To avoid any dramas and to not frustrate the staff , it's better to go at a quite time.

    • I bought an LG OLED C2 with 4 x $500 Home GCs + the rest with my credit card. I didn't have any issues while paying, though my receipt was about 1m long because of the split payment :)

I told them beforehand that I'll be paying with a few GCs and they said it was fine.

      YMMV.

    • +1

No problem with mine, just tell them ahead prior processing the payment that you are using the GCs and have the pin code scratched ready too.

    • +2

Yes, stack 10% Coles MC > 10% Ultimate GC > Jb Hi-Fi trade in for the best deal. Officeworks is arguably better though since they give more for trade in and will price match grey stock (but you can only stack GC in store)

    • I used a stack of $50s (25) earlier this month. I had the pins scratched before going in & told them I’d be using $50 gift cards. Staff were fine with that.

    • +1

      It should be fine.

JB Hi-Fi’s point-of-sale system will allow multiple Ultimate gift cards to be redeemed in one instore transaction, and there is no known limit built into the system. The OzBargain record is currently 81.

However, redeeming multiple Ultimate gift cards in a transaction will only be allowed at the discretion of the staff member operating the checkout. You will be very unlucky if you had a staff member refuse to split payments if you were purchasing an iPhone.

I’d follow the suggestion of other people and to go at a quieter time (if you can) and remove the gift cards from packaging and scratch to reveal PINs before you get to the store to speed up the process (especially if you end up with a pile of $50 gift cards). It is not exactly fast to redeem a stack of Ultimate/TCN gift cards, so the last thing you want to do is to unintentionally give JB Hi-Fi staff an excuse to lobby JB Hi-Fi head office to have redemption limits brought in (and keep in mind redemption limits were brought in during Black Friday 2020 with TCN gift cards).

    • best is first use the gift cards to buy JB Hi-Fi gift cards in a store. max amount for a JB Hi-Fi gift card is $1000. then use the JB Hi-Fi gift card to buy whatever you want, whether in-store or online.

  • +1

Can use these cards to buy Apple iTunes gift card?

    • Yes, you can use this to buy apple gift cards at JB Hi Fi.

If you get the visa versions you can be even more stealthy and add the gift card to apple pay / samsung pay/ google pay, then pay using that.

      • I just picked up a few cards today. Is there a limit to how many to can stack in the Apple Wallet?

That could get confusing if you have 10+ in your Apple wallet?

        • +1

I think Apple Pay allows you to add 5 per day before max, the you have to wait 24-48hrs before you add another 5. I don’t know the maximum number of cards you can add in total before it doesn’t allow you to add anymore.

          • @TechNerd: Oh wow, that’s really good to know. Must be an anti fraud thing.

I sure hope these Ultimate cards are immune from hacking

  • Can you buy these gift cards with Coles prepaid MasterCard?

  • Could i get 30x $100 HIM card to buy a camera at jbhifi? Or is that too over the top

    • You will get a receipt that will span meters, but like what other said in here, do it during quieter times.

    • I used 16 $500 ones to buy a camera with no issues, but I certainly made sure I went in when they were not busy as it took a while.

      • Dang must be a good camera

    • That's fine, prescratch the cards so they are ready to go

    • best is first use the gift cards to buy JB Hi-Fi gift cards in a store. max amount for a JB Hi-Fi gift card is $1000. then use the JB Hi-Fi gift card to buy whatever you want, whether in-store or online.

      • How does that save any time? I guess the JB gift cards don't have an expiry.

But now you're making two trips instead of one

        • It saves time and hassle if JB Hi-Fi is suddenly removed from the Ultimate gift cards you have without warning. It has happened before.

The other issue is that you can only redeem one Ultimate gift card on the JB Hi-Fi website. If JB Hi-Fi suddenly runs an online-only promotion (e.g. this 10% off coupon code deal), have fun trying to use more than one Ultimate gift card to pay for your order.

    • I had problems but I think it was for abusing perks signup. Still let it through tho I 'm probably going to have to purchase at another Jb if I do it again.

  • +2

Hmm. Wonder if it's worth waiting until these are 15% off. I don't know if 10% is worth all the stress.

    • +1

Good if you need something now. 15% is rare though, normally at Xmas from memory?

      • Yeah they're not often

      • +1

I could be wrong but 15% seem more common for TCN cards, not Ultimate ones?

        • TCN cards don't do JB Hi-Fi anymore.

          • @J-T: ? https://thecardnetwork.com.au/products/the-gift-card Or are you talking about physical?

            • @quill: yes i am talking about physical TCN cards. Coles has discount on them starting tomorrow 21 Jun 2023 I do not see any that features JB Hi-Fi

              • @J-T: None of the three gift cards going on sale at Coles tomorrow have ever featured JB Hi-Fi.

Other TCN gift cards (e.g. HOME, KIDS) feature JB Hi-Fi.

          • @J-T: Also have you tried buying JB gift cards with these? Need someone to confirm it actually works.

            • @quill: buying JB Hi-Fi gift cards with which ? i'm confused.

    • +2

      10% off - buy some
15% off - buy some more
20% off - buy some more more

      • 30% off - ….. Profit!

  • Any of these work with airbnb?

  • is there a fee to activate the card?

    • +1

      No

      • Thx TechNerd

  • Want to buy a 1k desktop from jb hifi business website, is that possible to use gift card online? Business website price is about $100 cheaper
    Thank you

    • +1

I don’t think that is possible.

JB Hi-Fi Business is a non-retail portal where payment must be made at the time of placing an order, which means you can only use one Visa (or Mastercard) card as a payment method on the website, plus you cannot pay for a JB Hi-Fi Business order in a physical JB Hi-Fi store. Considering the desktop you want is $1000 and the maximum denomination of gift cards in this deal is $100, you are out of luck.

The other issue is that I don’t think JB Hi-Fi Business accepts Ultimate gift cards as a payment method anyway, because JB Hi-Fi Commercial (another non-retail portal) apparently does not accept Ultimate gift cards either.

On the other hand, if you have access to The Good Guys Commercial, you should be able to use one Ultimate gift card online and multiple instore.

    • +1

best is first use the gift cards to buy JB Hi-Fi gift cards in a store. max amount for a JB Hi-Fi gift card is $1000. then use the JB Hi-Fi gift card to buy whatever you want, whether in-store or online.

  • So I'm very new to this gift card scenario. So mind my noob saibot questions here.
    1. Do I have to go to Woolworths to purchase a physical card?

    1. Is it 100aud max per card? Or can I get 3 1000aud cards? As I need 3000aud for a purchase I am wanting from JB hi-fi.

    2. If I can purchase from the UGC website online, could I put all 3 gift cards into my google pay account. And use that to purchase my 3000aud JB hi-fi item. Saving me $300. Cheers guys

    • +3

Do I have to go to Woolworths to purchase a physical card?

Yes. This deal is only available instore at Woolworths supermarkets and Woolworths Metro.

Is it 100aud max per card? Or can I get 3 1000aud cards? As I need 3000aud for a purchase I am wanting from JB hi-fi.

The only gift card denominations included in this deal are the $30, $50 and $100 denominations.

Woolworths sells variable load denominations for some Ultimate gift cards (which can be loaded with up to $500 per gift card), but those are specifically excluded from this deal.

If I can purchase from the UGC website online, could I put all 3 gift cards into my google pay account. And use that to purchase my 3000aud JB hi-fi item. Saving me $300.

The 10% discount through this deal does not apply to any digital gift cards sold on the Ultimate gift card website. The reason the Ultimate gift card website is linked in OP’s table is to let you see whether a participating retailer allows you to redeem the gift card instore, online and/or exchange it through the Ultimate gift card website for a digital retailer-specific gift card.

You can add the physical gift cards sold at Woolworths onto Apple Pay, Google Wallet or Samsung Wallet, but I would be hesitant about adding too many to Google Wallet in one go, as one OzBargainer added 12 Ultimate gift cards to their Google Wallet in a short period of time and Google disabled their Google Wallet due to suspected fraud.

You can redeem multiple Ultimate gift cards instore at JB Hi-Fi either by redeeming the physical gift card by swiping it through the EFTPOS terminal, or adding it to Google Wallet and redeeming it from there.

You can only redeem one Ultimate gift card online at JB Hi-Fi, because you can only redeem one Visa card in an online transaction. There are potential workarounds though.

      • How the ApplePay workaround actually works? Say I add 5 gift cards to my ApplePay, they are 5 separate cards, right? When making payment at Jbhifi online for example, I choose a card in my wallet to pay, but can I choose all 5 cards at once?

        • Say I add 5 gift cards to my ApplePay, they are 5 separate cards, right?

Yep, they will appear as 5 separate Ultimate gift cards in your Apple Pay wallet.

can I choose all 5 cards at once?

No. With Apple Pay, you can only redeem one Ultimate gift card per online transaction.

This is how it would work (at a high level):

          • Add the Ultimate gift card as a new debit/credit card to Apple Pay.

          • Visit the JB Hi-Fi website on an Apple device that can access Apple Pay.

          • Add a JB Hi-Fi gift card to the cart.

          • Go to the checkout and navigate through the cart until you can select Apple Pay as the payment method.

          • Once in Apple Pay, select the Ultimate gift card as the payment method and authorise the purchase.

  • Has anyone seen Ultimate Thanks card anywhere? Hardly seems to be in stock?

    • +4

The Ultimate Thanks gift cards are typically not found with the rest of the Ultimate gift cards at the front of a gift card shelf at larger Woolworths supermarkets. You usually actually find them on the left side of the gift card shelf, near where the IKEA gift cards, PlayStation gift cards and Xbox gift cards are typically found.

In terms of smaller Woolworths supermarkets or Woolworths Metro stores (where the gift card shelves are non-standard), the Ultimate Thanks gift cards really could be anywhere… assuming it is actually in stock.

  • For the ones that can use in JB, is there $500 in Woolies? This time I may actually try to get a few and use to buy JB gift cards.

If I remember correctly, WookieMonster suggest to add the GC to wallet and pay for the JB Gift card use phone to tap? I hope that still works as the item I am after is not available in nay metro store😭😭

    • The variable load cards are excluded from the 10% off . See this comment here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/13914811/redir

      • Yeah I just click on the image and saw that, only $100. So I have to tap a few times per JB GC or visit "many" times to have all the GC convert to JB gift card? Man that is pain in the ass…..

Thanks for the link but I have read that procedure from WookieMonster as few times already. The item I am after has an ticket price over 2K. That is going to be very painful to get 2K of GC convert to JB Gift card.

        • So I have to tap a few times per JB GC or visit "many" times to have all the GC convert to JB gift card? Man that is pain in the ass…..

          Yep.

The item I am after has a ticket price over 2K. That is going to be very painful to get 2K of GC convert to JB Gift card.

You only need to go through the hassle of converting Ultimate gift cards into JB Hi-Fi if you are purchasing the $2000+ item through the JB Hi-Fi website. I presume that is the reason you are contemplating doing that?

          • @WookieMonster: Yes…. nearest store have physical stock is 3 hours drive from Sydney😭😭

            • @syswong: Ouch.

Can your local store let you pay for it instore and have it sent to that store later for you to pick up?

        • Annoying as it is

You can do it if you put ya back into it

Or if you can wait for 10-15% deals that you can buy $500 or even up to $1000 elsewhere

        • I just scratch the pin and keep going I actually once used $50 ones for a $600 transaction as $100 ones were out of stock. Had a receipt couple of meters long

        • best is first use the gift cards to buy JB Hi-Fi gift cards in a store. max amount for a JB Hi-Fi gift card is $1000. then use the JB Hi-Fi gift card to buy whatever you want, whether in-store or online.

  • The main question i have here is can you split payments on the Coles MC cards to pay for the Ultimate cards? There will always be residual amounts left on the Coles cards after each purchase.

    • Not sure but you could probably just use any residual amounts on a 4% discounted Woolworths GC using their online portal and specifying an amount that will clear out the card. Need to load into PayPal as a prepaid mastercard I believe for it to work though.

    • SPLIT PAYMENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED FOR GIFT CARD PURCHASES.

      • At coles/aldi =big NO
        At Woolies = big Yes

        • i've tried. at both places, a definite no.

but you do what you want say what you want. no worries. i'm just sharing my experiences.

      • +2

Can confirm that the prepaid Coles Mastercard worked this morning to pay for Ultimate Gift cards at Woolworths. I even paid in split transactions and worked no problem

  • +1

This is timely as I've paid a deposit on a bike at 99 Bikes and currently owe them $5K. I've done a drive around this afternoon and can buy $5K worth of Him cards without going too far… assuming OzBers don't don't buy them all at 7 am tomorrow!

    Thanks Scrooge McDeal.

    • I assume you are trying to tell a joke…..

good luck to split transaction into $50 card if you are indeed doing it.

      • +2

I've just checked with my salesman at 99 Bikes and he's happy for me to turn up with 50 x $100 gift cards. He wasn't in the least concerned. So the "joke" is on you.

  • I called 99 Bikes national number and confirmed that I could use any number of UGC in store. I said it would be "a lot". I intend to buy $100 cards. I realise it's still 50 transactions. Perhaps I'll confirm with the store …
