  • If you could afford either, would you get this over the Gigabyte M32U at $899?

    • +5

Depends on your need for 4k resolution. People may said that QHD isn't good for 32 inch, but it has the same pixel density like a 1080p 24 inch screen. So if you dont have a good card to run game at 4k, go for this. If you have a good card to run latest game at 4k or watching 4k videos then get the Gigabyte. Also M32U have KVM switch, a nice feature for WFH.
Nonetheless, this screen at 350$ is a steal. Remember that S2722QC usually discount at this price and now you have a bigger screen/better Hz at the same price

      • +6

You need to comment this on those Alienware OLED monitor deals which are usually more than a grand

      • +2

Go look at Samsung and LG gaming ultrawides

    • M32U at $899 is overpriced. You'll also have DSC issues to worry about since it's not true hdmi 2.1 48gbps iirc.

This monitor however has low ppi 93 but, for $330 it's hard to go wrong really if you have nothing already.

  • +4

Don't forget 14% cashback - brings it down to $300.83.

Edit: Nvm only 3% cashback for monitors.

  • Thank you for the post, awesome deal.

  • +3

Why you making me get another monitor….will have 3 gaming monitors now

    • +3

You are only now getting your 3rd??

      • Yeah managed to hold off a few, but unsure if i can hold off on this, my power isn't that great

    • -3

Why you making me get another monitor

The only thing making you buy anything is your lack of self control.

  • +3

been running this the past 6 months with a RTX3070, great monitor for the price,

  • +2

Damn bought it a couple of weeks ago for $422. This is an awesome price!

    • yea I think I paid 480 last December,

      • +1

I got one for 429 last September.

Tempting to make it dual screen with the same monitor

If you use a discount code obtained through the Dell Student Purchase Program (where a student email is only required), you can save an extra 7% and bring the price down to $324.31.

    • Same with Dell EPP.

edit: I was wrong, the EPP 7% won't stack with the Affiliates 5%.

  • +1

Does this charge via USB PD?

    • +1

Yes but only at 15W so your laptop will only really charge if it’s not being used

      • good enough for mobile but I feel like he is asking he can use usb-c only instead of HDMI.

        which is not possible.

      • Thanks for clarifying this. This info doesn't seem appear on Dell's AU page, but does appear on their HK page.

Sadly 15W won't be enough for the mini PC I want to hook up. This still looks like a good deal though.

      • Where are you getting the 15W from?

In the support FAQ it says it supports 90W PD - https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-au/000199535/dell-32-g…

USB Type-C port on your Dell G3223D supports USB Power Delivery, Data, and DisplayPort video signal. The USB Type-C port can be used for video and data signal, and supply power (90 W) to a compatible laptop personal computer using a single USB Type-C cable that is provided with the monitor.

        • +1

From the same page you linked, under specifications:

          Ports and connectors
          2 x HDMI 2.0 with HDCP 2.2 (2560 x 1440, up to 144 Hz)
          1 x DisplayPort 1.4 with HDCP 2.2 (2560 x 1440, up to 165 Hz)
1 x USB Type-C upstream port (Alternate mode with DisplayPort 1.4, 2560 x 1440, up to 165 Hz. Power Delivery PD up to 15 W)

The 90W seems to be a typo by Dell. I have this monitor and it says 15W on the OSD when you select usb-c, and it definitely doesn’t charge my laptop when it’s in use

  • Great deal. Got it for $420 last year and I thought that was a great deal

  • +6

    Thanks purchased 3.

  • +1

Hope no DOAs like the G3223Q deal lol

  • I need it for work from home . Shall i go for this or any other,?

    • If its for work shouldnt be a problem, unless you do graphical work (photoshop, illustrator etc)

Many ppl dont go with 2k 32inch because of pixel density

But that is a good price for that, I really liked the G3223Q's build quality, unfortunately i was one of the few who got a DOA unit

      • Doesn't 1440p 32" has the same ppi as 1080p 24"?

        • then which one shall i go with? under 400 or 300

          • @Nickbag: I have no idea but I got one for myself for gaming use. I would imagine there are cheaper alternatives out there that would suit general usage better.

        • Yeh thats what Ive heard as well

but you get a lot of 32" must be 4k purists out there

    • I want this in 27 inch for WFH discounted 😕

      • there are so many 27inch in dell website under 300. and for WFH discount, what is the limit ?

        • Round $300 or under, prefer to have USB-C.

    • +1

      It's ips

    • +4

Did you actually look at the specs lmao

      • Yes it says tft matrix lol

  • +2

how does this compare with the Samsung deal at officeworks https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/782315 ?

    • +3

I have both a Dell and Samsung and if roughly equal tech (which this is) go with the Dell. My G7 has so many oddities with loading times, can't auto sense inputs, blah blah.

      • +1

For WFH the Dell display manager utiliity is a tipping point for me as well.

Sure there are other utilities but for the work pc that you don't manage this is usually available.

    • Officeworks has free 2 hour delivery atm

      • There's a size limit

        • The monitor is under the size limit

          • +1

@silenthillrocks: Ah you're right. For some reaaon I read the length limit as 120mm, whereas it's 120cm!

  • +2

Great deal, now slightly regretting my S2721DGF purchase but it's a great monitor.

  • bought 2 month ago for over 400… should've waited…. sigh

  • Is it good for normal work-from-home, using for excel, browsing, email, Visual studio etc…?

    • +1

Specs are mid-tier quality gaming monitor. Overkill for excel and all that.

Its a reasonable price for what you get. My only complaint is it's $30 short of being an instant tax write off lol.

      • For me it'll be a shared asset with another family member so the 'cost' to me is <$300 so should be OK as instant write off. i think that's how it works anyway.

  • +1

Good deal but why can't I find a good deal for 32" 3840 x 2160 resolution for WFH.

  • any chance of a discount on the MDA20 dual mount? Have the 2 monitors now just want a decent mounting solution

  • Can apply 7% coupon if you have edu email to make it $324.31

    https://webapp.dell.epsilon.com/APJ/UCVM/Coupons/Register/al…

  • Hmm need 4k as do more office work than else this would have been sweet

  • +2

So close to the magical 299 for tax… Can't find the 27" version, does it exist

    • May I introduce you to inspect element ;)

    • What's the magical $299?

    • +2

You can just claim this as 90% business use, which comes down to $298 - Instant write off from the tax perspective :)

      • +1

Is it the business purpose use or the purchase cost that has to be less than $300?

          • +1

            @TheJoker: From that link:

"To claim the immediate deduction, the cost of the depreciating asset must be $300 or less.

The cost of an asset is generally what you pay for it (the purchase price), and other expenses you incur to buy it – for example, delivery costs."

Looks like purchase price has to be less than $300 too

            • @silenthillrocks: The ATO link doesn't actually address this specific example. The examples they do give has a context of work related interest or proportion of interest in an asset, even if it's more than $300. Personally, I'll be claiming. On the very odd chance I get audited, I can give my interpretation of their rules and they'll advise me yes or no. There's no fine for this kind of thing where a genuine mistake has been made.

EDIT: That quote is only Test 1, but then they give an example of the split with an asset costing $1000. My interpretation is a mix of Test 1 and 2.

    • -1

What $299 magical number? I believe the threshold is like $150k for instant tax write off for FY2023.
      https://sleek.com/au/resources/instant-asset-write-off/

      • +1

That's for small business. For personal deductions it's $300.

      • Lol.

  • Thanks dealbot - finally took the plunge and jumped on one for this price

    • +2

      jumped on one

      I would advise against that…

  • Is this monitor overkill for just browsing, studying and working?

    • +1

      No just buy it :).

    • Probably. It's a gaming monitor so it has high refresh rate, low response time, g-sync, etc.

You don't really need those features for study or work.

      Insane deal tho.

      • What would you guys recommend for studying and working?

        • +1

          The ~$170 popular preowned phillips

    • just get it, a really good monitor. seriously it's less tiring for the eyes to have high refresh rate for work / study, if your GPU can drive it

  • Thoughts on this Vs ASUS VG279 (144Hz, 1080p). Is this 165Hz & 1440p that much of a noticeable upgrade & anything else I'm missing? I do WFH, Casual gaming + movies etc.

  • Cannot really find any good deal on 27inches 1440p :( unfortunately table too small for 32 inches monitors

  • The screen is matte screen, didn't particularly enjoy using it for that reason, your mileage
    may vary

    • +1

Aren't most of the modern screens matte nowadays? (I assume as opposed to glossy?)

      • Every single screen I own is matte. I had no idea if there was an alternative.

        • Yeah same. Though I recall when LCD monitors were getting popular/mainstream (maybe around mid-2000s or so), there were some with glossy coats. Gave the impression of richer colours (TFT back then)

          • @dainese: Funny how colour TFT is all the rage in bike's instrument clusters now.

    • +1

      as may your refresh rate
