Last weekend for bare-root trees, now 40% off.

This will be the last week of bare-root tree sales before we pot up what is left. You can still find some terrific ornamental and fruit trees available including some 2 way grafted apples. They are all 30% off, but bring in the coupon below and you will receive 40% 0ff.

These trees are still guaranteed, so keep your receipt just in case they don't sprout.

Deciduous Magnolia

We have got a great range of these in at the moment, including Vulcan (pictured) which is a pink hybrid from New Zealand. It is also lightly perfumed. There is also a dark purple flowered variety called Black Tulip which has a rounder looking flower but is also vivid in its display.

The best position is one protected from strong winds which can blow the flowers off quite abruptly. They will love a slightly acid soil and need to be watered well in summer, especially when establishing.

Black Tulip

Special Offer: these trees are priced between $80 and $300. Many of them are 3 to 5 years old. To make them a little more affordable, there is a coupon below to save 20% off these prices, so there has never been a better time to buy such an iconic tree.

Do You Have Worms ?

Can-O-Worms now just $69.95

September 1st and 2nd - Worm Farm Information Days - FROM 10AM TO 2PM

Our Can-o-worms worm farms are not only cheaper than in the chain stores, but we are also offering you a free worm blanket and conditioner valued at over $20. I would also recommend a third working tray ($25) once you get the worms established, as this allows all of them to have left the bottom tray by the time you want to use the castings in your garden.

We also have live worms ready to go, so you can get yourself started for as little as $100. You will be amazed at how much vegie scraps they will chomp through. Cut vegie scraps up into smaller bits to speed up the process.

What about vegie seedlings

Tomato and capsicum seedlings are now available but it is still early. It's way too early for basil, unless you have a greenhouse. If you do want to start some spring vegies early, why not transplant them into bigger pots and grow them on a bit before planting out.

I am harvesting some wonderful sugar snap peas at the moment and they only take 30 seconds in the microwave. Cabbage has also done well this year and we are enjoying its unique smell and flavour.

Why not dig the garden over and add some blood and bone and chicken manure. This will get some oxygen into the soil, and then when it has warmed up, it will be ready to go.

Flowers to plant now

We have just received some magnificent French Dahlia tubers from Delbard which will grow to have huge bright flowers. They are $15 per tuber and are limited in numbers so these will definately be a sell out.

Dahlia Villandry

Spreading petunias are ready to go and these will last you for over 9 months if you plant now.

I know we had great hellebores last month, but we have another exquisite range called Winter Royalty that are in large pots and fully flowered. They are turning heads with many of our customers.

Hellebore Winter Sunshine
ALSO ARRIVED IN THE LAST WEEK:

Our ever popular Roma 3 piece Kubu wicker setting is now available in a white wash. At $495 we think it is the best price in Melbourne. We recommend it for a verandah or alfresco area. Kubu is a very fast growing hard vine that has been skillfully woven into this very stylish setting. Order online for delivery anywhere in Melbourne at just $20.

…….Finally

Well done to all of you who got the free seeds last month. We'll be having some more freebies in the months ahead, so stay tuned.

This is going to be a spring to remember, so take the time out to get into your garden……..and enjoy !

Cheerio for now,
