    shuckable?

    • Funny how some1 has yet to answer but with 1400+ click throughs…hmm

Segate tech support - omg.. Wait time is crazy!

Anyway my guess by dimensions and weight is that if it's 2.5in SMR. Portable drives now generally ain't 3.5in which are the CMRs

      UPDATE
After on hold for 40m+ with seagate tech support, they confirmed that its a 2.5in CMR drive but it took 15m+ to obtain this information so I'm taking it with a grain of salt lol.

I thought it was a joke question because the entire point of this HDD is the fancy art work on the case, and shucking it probably results in throwing that out lol.

So these are just regular external hard drives?

    • +1

Yes, I believe so. They are not portable SSDs.

      • +3

Doesn't seem like much of a deal does it?

        • +10

$50 for 2TB is not bad, but yeah I would rather spend more and get a portable SSD, even if it's half the size.

@Melo: Pretty average design - unless you're a fan of the movie, you'd want to hide it away which defeats the purpose of the RGB. For a little more you can find a plain HDD drive elsewhere. Agree with comments above.

@fookos: Personally i wouldn't care about the image on it… 2tb for backing up for 50 … Id be in that if I needed it.

          • @Melo: I also wouldn't be buying a 2tb HDD in the first place.

        • +2

The next cheapest price I can find for a 2 TB portable hard drive is $69 at Officeworks.

        • +2

Do you have a link to a 2tb Segate portable hard drive cheaper than $50 ? ? ?

  • Could i plug this into my android phone and back up data to the drive?

    • +1

It's just a usb drive, prob no stock anyway

    • It probably can, but you'd need to check your phone, and you also might need to reformat the drive. I've checked a few phones recently and both my LG v50 and my POCO X3 can read external drives (even though the POCO only has USB2 through the USB-C port). They can't read them in NTFS though, so if you have a windows drive then you might need to format it to a more accessible filesystem.

Android and Windows can read exfat though… that is what i used for a USB flashdisk in the past…

May your data last longer on these drives than the memories of this film lasted in my head.

      RIP Chadwick Boseman

i saw teh new ant man the other day, longest two hours of my life. I saw the captain america snow soldier at the movies and my ass was numb by the end of it, had to hobble out of the cinema. I think they ran out of good funnybook movie ideas a decade ago.

    • I just don't bother seeing superhero movies. They're all the same, you can basically set your watch by the plotlines.

very confusing product….. why would someone wanted to buy a Wakanda hard drive?

    • I'd buy it if it had like a vibranium texture but it's more of a kids toy than a tool you'd use designed like that.

    • +1

      vibranium?

    • +1

      …reparations?

    • Juneteenth.

  • +3

do we really need this stupid superhero nerd shit all over our hard drives too

    • +1

      Yes… Hahaha

If we cosplay the crap out of everything will be ready for the next supernova or anime marvel expo

    • +1

Get creative and cover it with some stickers or whatever's on hand.

      • That was my plan

  • I picked one up from my local eb games. Yes it's just a 2tb hard drive but for $50 it'll do the job i want it to.

    • can you tell us what drive model is inside
and if the drive has standard sata port so it can be used in a pc or laptop sata connector etc?

      • I don't plan on taking it apart so not sure if i'll be able to do that sorry.

        • if you connect it to pc via usb
i think it might still be able to get the drive model

          try using software called
          crystal disk info

      • On Amazon for the Darth Vader seagate model there's a comment saying it's compatible with SATA III. So most likely that's a yes.

JB pricematched online no problems if that helps anyone

    • With chat? 4 delivery?

  • Can you remove it from the case?

  • +2

JB said No pricematch as EB are out of stock across all NSW stores for me.
EB wont deliver either ? Says out of stock for your area. I guess they don't post from other states or some general warehouse.

    • Find an EB store that does have stock then tell jb hifi that you are in that area too. Has worked for me in the past

  • is it made of vibranium ?

    • Just cheap plastic
