Why don't they just open the gates / turnstiles and let people in for free.

you will get people doing dumb stuff. they wont bother going thru this process to get free tix

      • I'm not sure what you are saying there, but the tickets are not free if you have to pay $4.95

yeah i guess there is always the booking fee but if ya let the gates open you are guaranteed to get random troublemakers waltzing in having no idea about AFL and causing a scene

@Jollystacker: Ok, so you suggest that the risk management strategy for 'troublemakers' potentially attending an AFL game is to make people pay to attend.
I'd never thought of that before.
Why don't we make that a policy for everything; if you can't pay you can't participate? You can't leave home (if you have one) if you can't demonstrate that you can pay for the goods and services which you may need outside of your home. Then we wouldn't have any 'troublemakers' anywhere.

            • @GG57: and you want to let everyone in for free lmao, how is the club that is already struggling gonna survive? People won't buy game memberships anymore then

              • -1

@Jollystacker: That isn't my idea per se; but if the AFL or the club want to encourage attendance, I'm suggesting that free entry would be better than people having to pay $4.95 per ticket.

Now, back to your idea on managing the risk of 'troublemakers'…?

Would hate to be a member of this club, especially almost every home game, they're giving away free tickets almost every match!!

  • Free tickets to GWS matches has been happening since their existence in 2009.

It means AFL isn't working in Western Sydney.

GWS should just fold, and relocate to another city. Give it to Canberra,

    • Interesting proposal, but I wouldn't relocate a failing team from a non-traditional Australian Rules Football location (Sydney) to a different non-traditional Australian Rules location (Canberra) when there are other traditionally strong Australian Rules locations without representation at AFL level.

Been to a couple of these games recently. I'm not a follower of any team but find the game entertaining. Had plenty of fun and the kids loved it too. Good value for weekend afternoon out.
