Kugoo G2 Max 48V 21Ah Dual Suspension Electric Scooter $1399 Delivered @ Kugoo Australia

100
OZ_G2MAX

Kugoo have released their latest electric scooter in Australia with a $500 off coupon code and free delivery nationwide. The main features of the G2 Max is the powerful 1500W rear motor that allows it to tackle any hill with ease, as this is often the weak area of most electric scooters. Thanks to the powerful motor it has a street legal max speed of 25km/h and when modified/unlocked a max speed of 55km/h on private property.

To make rides smoother there's dual shock-absorption spring suspension and the 10" off-road tyres makes it suitable for off and on-road terrain. If you ever need to change the tyres, Kugoo have it easy to remove. The other improvement is a large 48V/21Ah (1008Wh) battery, which is about double the capacity of popular Segway models and offers up to 80km range on a single charge.

There's also dual disc brakes, thumb throttle, LED display, bright LED headlight, easy fold mechanism, ultra-wide 9" deck with plenty of feet room and a max payload of 150kg.

  • Apply the coupon OZ_G2MAX at checkout

Please ensure you follow local laws surrounding electric scooters (legal in all states, except NSW & SA) and always wear protective equipment.

a street legal max speed of 25km/h and an unlocked private use speed of 55km/h.

That would make them illegal for use in VIC on public roads.

    • Out of the box if you ride no more than 20km/h it is legal on Victorian roads. If you modify the scooter to exceed 25km/h it is not legal on Victorian roads and only legal on private property.

      • -1

Out of the box if you ride no more than 20km/h it is legal on Victorian roads.

Nope, the rules are very clear.

Any e-scooter capable of exceeding 25km/hr is deemed to be an unregistered motor vehicle. 5 penalty units = $925 fine.

        • +3

Out of the box the scooter is not capable of more than 25km/h.

          • -3

@Clear: Yes it is, because it is capable of being unlocked.

It even explicitly says so on their Australian website…

Equipped with a powerful 1500W brushless motor, the max speed can reach 34mph (55 km/h)

So it is capable of reaching 55 km/h making this an illegal, unregistered motor vehicle under VIC law.

            • +2

@jv: To be road legal in Australia it cannot exceed 25km/h out of the box, which it does not. That's what makes it legal in the states that allow PMVs. You can modify them to go faster and that no longer makes them legal. Having the ability to "unlock" or "modify" them is not illegal.

              • -4

                @Clear:

That's what makes it legal in the states that allow PMVs

                Not in VIC.
This was discussed on the radio when they brought in the new laws.

If it can be unlocked to go faster, it is deemed 'capable' of exceeding 25km/h and not legal in VIC. I don't know how other states interpret this.
The intent is that they do not want these high powered models on the road here.

To be road legal in Australia

By the way, they come under state laws, not federal.

                • @jv:

There's no specific mention of unlocking in the legislation. If it does not exceed 25km/h out of the box then it's legal.

                    That's right.

So it is capable of doing 55km/h as per the AU website, which makes them illegal.

                        SPECIFICATION
                        Max Speed 34 mph (55 km/h)

                        • @jv: If it was that high, they wouldn't be able to import these scooters into Australia. If I use it as is out of the box, it would be legal, until I modify it to a speed over 25km/h which then makes it illegal

                        • +2

@jv: Righto jv, so by your logic, all cars on the road are illegal because they can do 180kmh and the speedo even says so. you don't even have to unlock them, you just put your foot down. ffs.

                          • @eggboi:

all cars on the road are illegal because they can do 180kmh

Cars are registered and there is no law that says that can't be capable of speeds greater than the legal speed.

E-scooters are unregistered and the current VIC law says that they must not be capable of exceeding 25km/h and you must not exceed 20km/h at any time… If the e-scooter is capable of exceeding this speed, it is deemed an unregistered motor vehicle and subject to a $925 fine.

@jv: i'm sure they will clarify once some idiot tests the law, but i'd say it's safe to assume if it is speed-limited, that counts as limiting its capabilities (at the time of operation).

@eggboi: It's already been clarified. They are not allowed.

                                • @jv: Reference? Precedent?

                                    Reference?

It was discussed on the radio when the new laws came out earlier this year.

Yep, same people introducing the laws discussing them on radio…

                • +2

@jv: if you drop it off a skyscraper, it'll be doing more than 25kmh before it hits the ground.

                  • @eggboi: Capable of exceeding 200km/hr folded up neatly in the back of my ute.

Every scooter post you respond with the same mis-information, even though people respond to try to correct your statement.
According to the Police Victoria website; "A legal e-scooter is defined as…..has a maximum speed capability of 25 kilometres per hour when ridden on level ground."
I bought a scooter that's capable of going 48KPH, but it has been locked to 25KPH,it therefore complies with the Victorian laws.
You state that you "heard on the radio" that this is not legal, can you please show in writing as I think you may have misunderstood what was stated on the radio.
Are you saying that JB-HiFi, Panmi, Electric Kicks, Harvey Norman, The Good Guys have all misunderstood the laws, but you heard the correct law once on the radio??

      • Thanks 👍

        • Do you have any plans to release anything like the Kukirin G3 Pro here in Australia?

          • @metalhead: Sorry my information was wrong. KuKurin is not related to Kugoo and a brand created by one of the European distributors.

      • Hi clear, i’ve sent you a pm regarding electric scooters just wanting to get your input on the Segway scooters, thanks

        • That post you commented in had the explanation between the two further up 😉
