  • This one & HP Photosmart C4345 @ Kmart on special this weekend is about the same price ($29 after cash back). So just wondering which one is better?

    • The higher the model # in HP, the better the specs, so i'll go for the Kmart one for sure.

  • So don't buy it from DSE but the link is to DSE? :)

POWERevolution, I think one way or another, you can't be wrong with a $29 printer/scanner. I bought one ages ago and after the ink ran out I have been using it as a scanner since.

  • Thanks Noslee & cacbm! HP Photosmart C4345 is only $19 (after cash back). See other post for detail. Hope I can grab 1 today @ Kmart.

    • Maybe give your local Kmart a call just in case they don't have it in stock. You can ask them to put it aside for you if they do, and you'll save yourself some time and petrol if they don't.

Also don't bother buying ink when it runs out. Just buy another printer! :)

      • it might be cheaper to buy this printer (after cash back) than ink, but it's harmful to the environment. why not use refill instead?

      • Buying a new printer is not really a better option than buying new ink. They don't come with full ink cartridges in the first place.

I bought one of these printers this week (unfortunately for $10 more) and have nearly gone through the colour ink already - have only printed 6 or so pages of colour print too.

  • Don't know how it work in other states but in SA they won't hold any catalogue items for you :(
But sure I'll give them a call before I go. Thanks for reminding me.

  • "Slow, expensive to run, poor text printing quality" says the only review I can find. Oh, and it's "noisy".

Apart from being a piece of you-know-what printer, you can kiss the savings from that little cashback goodbye after the first few ink cartridges/refills. The cheapest models are generally found to be the worst in terms of ink consumption. Even if you rarely print, you can still count on having to buy cartidges/refills regularly to replace the ink wasted in self-cleaning cycles.

  • check http://h50025.www5.hp.com/ENP5/Public/Content.aspx?contentID… The details of $20.00 cashback for C4345 too. NOT $30.00

  • Just don't get caught out on the cashback side of things.

I've bought a few HP printers throughout this year and I have yet to receive a single cashback from them. One purchase was made in July, they've acknowledged the claim back in August and said it will be in my bank account within 75 days. Forward the clock to mid November, er nope, not a single cent from HP.

Likewise for my purchases in August and September. Can't be arsed buying HP printers anymore in October onwards because I have doubts whether I'll see any of my cashback if at all.

Some people on Whirlpool have various success after contacting the ACCC…I might follow suite when I get a chance.

  • Groan! Just bought one of these from Harvey Norman a few days ago - for $10 more. Oh well.

  • HP software is the most bloated software ever!!! 100MB+ just for installation.. it is totally ridiculous.

    • If you use Vista you don't need to install those drivers to print/scan (at least I didn't).

With a bit of searching on the website you can get the drivers online without all the bloatware. Totally agree though, and I'm sure it's even more than 100MB now, something like 400MB for a full installation. Yet, the actual INF is probably only a few KB.

      • They have one driver package for ALL of their PSC models. So you've got a ****load of drivers in there, along with all their almost useless HP software. Adds up to well over 100mb :|

Luckily for Vista users (and linux yay!) it will automatically find the drivers for you.

  • The ink in the printer is less than you think. after several paper printing, it is used out. Then the cartridges are cost.
