          • @yummypinacolada: Just remember that Samsung QLED used to be the OLED competitor and it's only their advancement of tech that QLED has dropped down in tier. Though I'm not saying QLED was ever a competition to OLED.

In this scenario though, I would pick the Sony over the Samsung, as I've seen heaps of Samsung suffer from DSE.

Did you look at the same demo?

Sony full array Samsung Q70C not full array.

      Full array a lot better

Don't buy TV base on live TV channel, you should check 4k video.

      • It seems I did an impulse buying today.
Is Sony full array X90K QLED technology? Also Samsung has built in Airplay we use it to stream pictures and videos from our phone.

For PS5 can the Samsung play in 120hz?

Also the best TV in our price range and screen was the LG CS 65’ OLED. We didn’t buy due to all the discussions of screen burn in the Ozbargain forum.

Should I go change this to LG OLED (above) or Sony X90K?

This is the spec for Q70C

Is Sony full array X90K QLED technology? Also Samsung has built in Airplay we use it to stream pictures and videos from our phone.

QLED is just the name from Samsung, they are all LED panel, the difference are how to light up the panel. Because the Samsung Q70C is 2023 model, $2999 is RRP, so not that much discount, should be cheaper.

Sony use Google TV can stream from iPhone.

Check this out TV, backlights explained: Edge-lit vs. full array vs. Mini-LED and OLED are completely difference panel.

For PS5 can the Samsung play in 120hz?

Q70C can do 120hz HDMI 2.1. according to the spec "HDMI (High Frame Rate) 4K 120Hz (for HDMI 1/2/3/4)"

Also the best TV in our price range and screen was the LG CS 65’ OLED. We didn’t buy due to all the discussions of screen burn in the Ozbargain forum.

OLED have the best colour reproduction, contrast but not as bright as LED panel (if you have large Windows and Sunlight near it, maybe an issue) and maybe burn in.

Should I go change this to LG OLED (above) or Sony X90K?

If you are talking about 65" CS OLED compare with 85" X90K, I personally will get a big screen, if you don't mind $5000 for big 83" LG C2 OLED, get the LG.

Q70C is still a good TV, I have The Frame 2022 around the same as Q70B (Edge-lit), dark scene is not very good but OK, bright scene are good.

If you compare Samsung with Sony X90K, the equivalent model is Q80C both full array but Samsung is 2023 model, Sony is 2022. Samsung Q70C $2999 is RRP, so not that much of discount.

          • @superforever: Thank you mate. I think I’ll keep the Samsung 85’ Q70C as it’s very similar to the full array of Bravia. Samsung has airplay2 which comes very handy for us to play something from our iPhone and mirror the phone. They are both the same price point after the discount which is very hard to decide on.
Lastly, Samsung mini LED 65’ QN85C is also an option for us after perks discount $2205. Should I go to the store tomorrow and change it to 65’ from a 85’?

With the mini LED would you say the picture quality a big change? I’m debating now between the Samsung 65’ mini LED or the one I purchased today 85’ Q70C?

You have to ask yourself whether you prefer big screen over picture quality, 65" vs 85" that is a lot, as I said I prefer big screen for the same price.

mini LED have better contrast than Edge-lit but honestly most 4k streaming movies or drama, you may not feel the difference if you don't compare it side by side, not all 4k streaming are real 4k, that is why in store they only show you 4k demo video.

@superforever: Thank you so much mate. You been wonderful throughout the this journey. In my past experiences with TVs I like bigger the better and the quality of the streaming services depends largely on the Internet and other factors. I have decided to keep the Samsung 85’ Q70C.

    • That's because Samsung's QLED panels pop much more than Sony's standard LED panels. Much wider colour gamut. I would rather get a smaller X95K if it were my money. Picture quality > Panel size.

      • No they played different videos until I asked them to play a tv station like channel 7.

But he compared the two TVs with live Channel 7 XDD, test full HD signal on 4k TV.

    • I’ve submitted the price match request to Sony last night. Still no response yet.

      • Got reply within 1 hour :

Thanks for requesting a price match with Sony!

I have wonderful news! I am happy to advise you that your request has been Approved!

In order to complete the purchase, we need you to create a MySony account so that we may load up your shopping cart with the approved price. Once you are done, please let me know by replying to this email with your registered email address so that I may update your shopping cart.

        • Did you reply with your email address? How long did it take for them to add it to your shopping cart?

          • @deisou: They did not …. So I missed on both as JB was out of stock.

            • @virtuallife: I tried through chat today and they have now updated my cart with pricematch!
Just sorting out the cashrewards if I could :D

            • @virtuallife: I tried their chat and they added price match into shoppig cart. Now checking this cashreward thingy. Not sure how that additional 10% cashreward can be used for pricematch.

      • Update: Got the price match through this afternoon (Monday night, when price match was submitted Friday night). Was waiting in my cart at Sony for $2545.

Just waiting on 10% Cashrewards to track now.

        • How do you use the cashrewards?
I am now chatting with Sony rep and he has agreed to give pricematch. How would the cash rewards work? appreciate your help.

          • @virtuallife: Its a referral site. You sign up for a Cashrewards account, follow their link to the Sony.com.au and they get a referral kickback of you purchase something, while you get cash in your cashrewards account you can withdraw after it clears.

Ask the Sony rep to put the TV in the shopping cart of your Sony account, and you can sign into Sony (after clicking through via Cashrewards) to make the purchase.

            • @Spun: Great thanks buddy! The Rep has put the pricematch into account and will try relogin into CashRewards and take to Sony site. Hope the backorder gets filled up soon. Thanks for helping!

              • @virtuallife: No worries man. Hope it works for you.

My backorder apparently shipped Wednesday via DHL. Hoping it turns up Friday and I can spend the weekend putting it through its paces.

                • @Spun: Did you receive the TV and the Cashback. Mine is still processing…. placed the order on Tuesday the 27th.

                  • @virtuallife: Yep, received the TV today, and the cashback is showing in my Cashrewards account, but isn't available to withdraw until 29th September.

                    • @Spun: After tireless followup.. finally sony decided to dispatch it today. Hope I get it in couple of days.

  • Just over 2k for the 75" how does that rate?
85 is too big for me

    • If 85’ isn’t too big of an issue. Bigger the better. The price between 75 vs 85 inch isn’t too much

    • No TV is too big

  • Now on Backorder at Sony..

    • It was on back order from Sony since Monday last week. ;(

  • And jb says none avail for delivery or within 200km..

  • +1

If you order one on backorder, I assume that means your cashback may not be honoured if they don't get stock for a month?

    • i don't think there's cashback at sony

    • someone on the 14% Cashrewards Sony post mentioned they've never had issue with it being honored with backorders. I'm hoping this is the case since i got Sony to price match.

  • How's the picture quality compare with Hisense 85 inches U7?

  • Just saw Harvey Norman $2495 no need for perks coupon but not on their site

  • +2

And delivered! Top service by JB with their quick scheduling, ability to change delivery date and tracking of driver was accurate and on time.

    • Enjoy. I'm playing the waiting game now from Sony. It was worth it for me though due to the free delivery and $235 cashback.

  • Managed to get Sony to price match today, as it failed yesterday.
However they are on backorder (which I knew, everyone seems to have run out of stock now), with no ETA yet.
But they said it's fine to cancel if it takes ages.

    • Any update?

  • Any recommendations for a wall mount suitable for this size TV?
