• Hows the performance of the snapdragon?

• Mine is still in the box sorry.

• Snappy performance on my 4 GB version, but I don't game.

For browsing, it works great. Android app performance was terrible up until a couple of weeks ago when they pushed an update specifically to improve performance of Android apps, which appears to have greatly improved the situation. Mind you, for apps I'm mainly using YouTube music on ours, which I had resorted to just using in the browser until this update came through. Haven't tested other apps recently.

Keyboard is nice enough. They're good value if you need chrome on a laptop that you never use on your lap. As a tablet, the 13" is a bit big/heavy for longer periods, but again, if you use its stand to prop it up as a media device, it works well.

I have the 4gb/128gb version of this and I love it. Pretty decent price, I paid around this for mine when it released. Wish I had have known that officeworks sold this version, would have paid the extra for it.

Edit: not that I think it needs it I just like buying the higher model.

• Same here.

• Just note I bought this awhile back and the version sold at officeworks does not come with the USI pen like you find on the models at JB or Amazon. You can get the pen direct from Lenovo or use a third party brand if you really need it

• +1

I got mine last July from Officeworks and it came with a pen. Hopefully you didn't accidentally throw it out in the box

• May have changed since then, as under Specifications on the OW website, it says "Digital Pen Included
No."

• Ah I just looked at my receipt, think they updated the versions. Damn, didn't know they were updating

Officeworks is BAU, amazon and JB is AAU. I tried to pricematch at JB but they said the model no. is diff.

• Exactly same thing happened to me.

If you have access to the Lenovo EDU Store, you can purchase the Lenovo USI Pen 2 for $39.90.

• I have the Duet 3 with 8GB/128GB. Can't complain really. I don't do gaming. Just browsing, youtube and streaming. Seems fine.

• Its nearly 2 years old, is this likely halfway to its obsolescence?

• Chromebooks have a thing called "Auto Update Expiration (AUE)". I don't know about this exact model (we have one at work) but the other Chromebooks we have are all AUE until about 2028.

Looking at official Google page it has the "IdeaPad Duet 5" down til June 2030. I assume this is the model on sale here.

I'd buy one of these if you want tablet-form Chromebook. I personally didn't like it as I need to use it in laptop mode too much and found it not as easy to use as a laptop with a closable screen. Gave it to a colleague who prefers it massively based on how they use it.

Performance is fine for most webstuff.

• Do you have any experience with Remote Desktop or Citrix? I recall having issues with mouse latency on the smaller version.

• +1

We use RDP for one server and don't have any problems but the Android app for it is a bit janky. It works but I wouldn't want to have to use it to manage a fleet of servers or use it all day or anything. I don't personally use it but the bloke who does doesn't love it, but it's fine for limited use.

• I would NEVER buy an Android tablet from Lenovo again. They're obsolete on arrival & simply don't get updated even with security patches.
Chromebook updates, being controlled by google, is the only reason to buy Lenovo hardware in this space (he says typing from a Thinkpad).

• +1

Sure, but this isn't an 'Android tablet' - it's a Chromebook, in tablet form.

Honestly I don't even love the Lenovo hardware in general. Just got our first HP equivalents and they are much better.

• Brilliant machine, can't wait for next generation. It's much more of a laptop than a tablet.

$200 iphone twice as fast lol

• +5

.50c doughnut tastes better than an iPhone lol

• I prefer koolaid actually

• +3

Drunk on apple koolaid clearly haha

• -1

@eddyah: I’m am drunk on the 2.5x perf over this tbh

• +1

Does your fictional $200 iPhone have a 13.3" screen and a close to full-sized keyboard?

• -1

it’s not fictional if I’m typing on one right now

• +1

iPhone SE are around $200. No 13.3 inch oled screen, keyboard or support until 2030. Of course you can get a more powerful phone for less money… The dude is always trolling these posts going on about the fast chip on the cheap iPhone SE. Like you need a powerful chip for web browsing, multimedia and even gaming nowadays… The troll hasn’t even figured out yet that you can get a more powerful chip in the Apple TV for less money. Lol

• Lol I wish I was trolling I’m literally loading websites 2.5x faster now

• +1

@abctoz: You are trolling… 2.5 times higher scores in synthetic benchmarks doesn’t translate to 2.5 times better performance in the real world… Especially since in the real world even low end hardware can accomplish those tasks very fast already… I would much rather browse online with a proper desktop browser on a 13.3 inch display than on a 4.7 inch screen with a mobile browser. Even if the smaller screen device had a technically significantly faster processor.

I love my M powered iPad Pro, but the walled garden OS limits it. And despite the more powerful chip (which is way better than your iPhone), which is still considerably better than my old Android tablet, I end up using my significantly lower powered Android tablet more. Hopefully Apple allow sideloading apps in iOS 17.

• @Ronnnie: It sure feels like 2.5x to me, synthetics are pretty close in some cases

Loading apps on my android phone, total pita, probably saved a few hours in load time already

Screens aren’t worth much, an iPad will similarly blow this out of the water

iOS can be a pita but I don’t do anything too obscure, that’s what my computer is for

• I love mine, but it's pretty hefty and the screen is pretty wide compared to the height. I would have preferred the Duet 3 but it wasn't out. Pretty happy with the performance, haven't gamed as not sure what I can play on it.

Screen is quite fragile though, I accidentally dropped it 50cm on to my couch, it landed on the keyboard and somehow smashed the screen :/

What’s with all the planned obsolescence, end of updates? More landfill. Hope these things are fully recyclable. Guess how they get people to keep upgrading.

• +1

EOL for this one is 2030.

• +1

Have you ever found a tech product that gets updated indefinitely? At least they're being upfront about it with these.

• +1

OLED screen is what makes this tablet actually good. Great viewing experience

• Does this have quick charge?

• I got my 8g 128gb almost a year ago from Officeworks and paid something around $550.

Two best thing is Battery life and screen
1. Super battery life, for light office use, can last 10-14 hours without a recharge, and charging speed is good.
2. very nice screen for the price, a better screen than some $1000 + laptop. Not perfect but good enough.

The only major downsize for me is you need USI 2.0 Stylus pen and it is only available recently, and does not have a cheaper third part one.

• Are you sure? I had one and it used USI 1 stylus (included). I then moved to Duet 3 11" and that is the one that needs USI 2.0 stylus.

• Does anybody know how well this runs Teamfight Tactics?

Seems to be $497 now ($100 cheaper)… Am I looking at the same listing?

• Yes it’s the same one. At $497 it’s a pretty good deal.
