Luv-A-Duck Frozen Whole Duck 1.9kg $13.50 (was $25.60) @ Coles

360

My three local Coles stores had 20+ ducks each freezer so there was still plenty of stock when I finally decided to purchase one today at the third store I visited (I was store hopping trying to find those damn MasterChef Cookware pans to redeem)

At $13.50 I’ll give it a go. Might attempt this recipe https://www.thehungrymouse.com/2009/02/11/the-best-way-to-ro…

I had too many Masterchef points so had to redeem the 100pt roasting thing. Perfect timing.

      It's misspelt hence the discount.

"third store I visited (I was store hopping trying to find those damn MasterChef Cookware pans to redeem)"
There is a phone number to call and they advise stock numbers for stores near you. I saw a tag on the shelf with a phone number
Looking through call history, it might be
    1800061562
    .

    It saids 15 dollars online

    • that's the frozen one, and one on sale is Frizen one!

    • 2.1kg for $15 in most places

      1.9kg for $13.5

It is marginally cheaper. It looks like the Coles got the wrong stock or that's the only things the supplier left.

  • Cool Frizen luv a duck .

  • Duck is Frizen! (Like Christ is Risen)

    • Like Christ is Risen

      When will Christ risen ?

  • You can get a lot of the fat out if you score it then pour boiling water on it. This will hinder your duck fat harvesting though, if that's your thing.

  • Can I use this to make peking duck or crispy skin roast duck?

    • Yes, I have done so before.

    • Yes. You wouldn't want to use chicken.

  • Make sure it's properly thawed before inserting into the cavity

Haha thanks guys for fixing my fat finger typo. “Frizen” duck does sound appropriate though as it was “freeezin” my hands holding it trying to read the packaging.

My duck is almost defrosted so will attempt this Peking duck recipe instead. Looks simpler and quicker than the original one I linked.

    • They were mean to you.

      • +1

Meh, they can be mean but I don’t have to feel offended.

Water off a ducks back I say. Life is too short to get upset by words from random people online.

I know the OzBargain community like to quack a joke, even if it’s at the expense of the OP but honestly this was so tame that I was disappointed as they’re usually more creative when peking fun at each other.

        :-)
