[Used] Apple MacBook Pro M1 Pro (2021, 14" 8‑Core CPU, 14-Core GPU, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD) $1889 + $5.99 Delivery @ JB Hi-Fi

470

First time poster, please go on me.

Seems like a pretty good deal for the base 14" 8-Core CPU, 14-Core GPU M1 Pro. It is JB HIFI Renewed Stock - if anyone's had experience with Renewed put it in the comments below.

There's Also 16-Core GPU with 1TB SSD for $2429 as well: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/apple-macbook-pro-14-inch…

xoxo.

Update: Silver's sold out
UPDATE: Renewed = Used. This could mean you get someone's trade in. Let's hope there's some rigor in JB's "Quality Control Process"

First time poster, please go on me.

    😲

  • Hm doesn't seem to be Apple refurbished but is done by JB's. Still a great price though, I think they're asking for around $2k on eBay for second hand units.

    • +3

Yeah - i'm hoping these don't have high cycle counts either. I've ordered one so will let y'all know if it's reliable.

It's called "renewed" which sounds like a cunning way to avoid the rules re refurbished products.

So, like the OP requested - does anyone have an idea what "renewed" may mean?

      • +1

        Description on JB Product Listing

        ^What is "Renewed Stock"?

“This device is pre-owned and has been through a quality control process. You may see some cosmetic blemishes and slight scratches”.

Renewed stock will be sent in generic, non-branded packaging, with a power cable included.

        • +2

Hopefully it's a genuine Apple mag-safe PSU. I'd want to confirm this before buying.

      • what rules re refurbished products and how it differs to renew?

  • +3

    Renewed = used

    • +7

      So like pre-loved

      • +3

        just love the wordplay

      • Same as Second-hand…

        • +4

Yeah but second hand or used sounds abused or mistreated.

Pre-loved sounds like it was taken care of.

@xoom: if someone used it to watch porn
there will be lots of post-love on the laptop.

better bring a UV/Blacklight before accepting the laptop

      • +1

        More like gently loved

    • Added it to the description

  • just ordered one, let's see if it's any good

    • Just some dude casually dropping 2K.
I wish I had a casual 2k to drop in these economic times. Sigh.

      • actually being eyeing this for a while… I sold my windows laptop and have be0en without a portable laptop for quite some time

        • Just jesting brah. :)

How M1 pro performance compare to M2 tho?

  • If you are after the 10 core version I would recommend just price matching this deal at Officeworks and picking up a new one for ~$100 more (or save even more if you have discounted Officeworks gift cards from the recent ultimate gift card deals)

  • Still gutted I didn't get that mwave deal the other day…

You could of course get the Apple Refurbished version
    https://www.apple.com/au/shop/refurbished/mac/macbook-pro
This model currently goes for $2,299 for an apple refurb, which I would consider basically new, I'm pretty sure they come with the same warranty as a new one.
over $400 cheaper for this JB used version… I guess that's a pretty decent deal

I bought an Apple refurbished 14" M1 Pro and it was spotless. Not a mark on it, not even the rubber feet. New power brick, new cable. The only thing different is the box it came in - white box rather than a printed one with a pic of a Macbook on it. Added the 3 year Applecare+ so for peace of mind and knowing I can return it, the extra costs over the JBHifi deal is worth it.
That said, I wished I went for the 16" but it was $600 more and couldn't justify the extra cost.

  • Re news means

    • Used plain and simple.

  • Oops! We can't find the page you're looking for….

  • Got this exact model. Bought it new and it hasn't missed a beat. Absolute weapon of a machine.

  • Ah dam! missed out - going to look for one on FB marketplace i guess

  • Just got mine with a huge dent on the back of the screen, I mean WTF, I though it's "some cosmetic blemishes and slight scratches"

    • That's messed up. Nearly 2k computer and with a screen just waiting to fail any day. It's nowhere near described so you should be eligible to return it.

      • guess so much for "renewed" products from JB-HiFi, silver lining is they did accept the return in this case, just regret paying for shipping
