The Chromebook market is in complete disarray here in Oz both model and price wise. Inconsistency in models and pricing is so confusing. Heaps of models available in the US that we don't even get a sniff of here and conversly this model I don't think was ever available in the US.

This is the 11th gen processor (there was a previous 10th gen) model and includes Lenovo USI 1.0 pen.

Replacing my Flex 5 10th gen i3/4GB/64GB which has done me well over the last couple of years and is actually still useable but had some work allowance money available so needed to use up before EOFY :)

Showing as $697 at Officeworks so managed to price match for $569.05.

    pricebeat is not bargain

$599 is a pretty good price for this unit these days especially as Officeworks has them as $ 697. Price match was only cream on top :P

          8 gb 256 gb
Is this for kiddies ? asking for friend

That's high-spec for a Chromebook. Did you miss the part where it says it's a Chromebook or do you think Chromebooks in general are all trash?

  • Anyone know if we can install Windows 11 on this one?

    • windows 11 is supported for this processor.

  • I guess so!

  • +1

Too late, but $599 at Bing Lee and was 15% off until 9am this morning…

  • Just did the same thing and got SMS ready for collection @ OW.
Also will claim TRS on Sunday to take it down further. Make a decent travel laptop for the trip then laptop for kids school.

      Trs?

        TOURIST REFUND SCHEME
        TRS

    • What happens when you bring the item back into Australia? Do you have to pay the GST?

      • +1

Officially, yes. Realistically, they don't check.

        • And when they do. We ready the popcorn to watch border security. 🤣

      • You can pool together family allowances.
"Families coming back to Australia on the same flight or voyage may combine (pool) their individual duty free concession limits. To do this, families must stay together when going through Customs clearance."

      • +1

Even if you declare it coming back, you won't have to pay GST as it's below the incoming passenger concession allowance of $900.

        • But didn't they removed that allowance?

          https://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/nasty-change-tour…

But around September last year, the Australian government changed the rules. If you return to Australia with items you’ve previously claimed a GST refund on, you must now declare these and repay the tax in full. This includes items worth less than $900.

          • @xoom: Please refer to the current abf.gov.au page on TRS.

            • @cheapbloke: This is all i can find. I get this is below the $900 concession. But people have just simply said. I don't declare it. Or they never check anyway.

Declare any goods you bring back to Australia, for which a TRS claim was made by you or another person when the goods left Australia.
On returning to Australia, you must declare the goods at Question 3 on your Incoming Passenger Card (IPC)
Penalties may apply if you fail to declare these items
If you bring goods back into Australia for which a GST refund via the TRS has been claimed, the goods must be declared, and if the value of those goods (combined with any other overseas/duty free purchases) exceeds the passenger concession allowance, any applicable GST and/or duty may need to be paid unless another concession (example, all personal clothing – except furs) is available.

              • @xoom: no officer i sold that laptop overseas and then bought an identical because, oh officer you are very pretty

                • @Sinnerator: Dont get me wrong. Its why we have the show border security.

  • OW one doesn't come with the pen though? Still good if they can price beat at OW. I'd get the Amazon one has it has the pen included.

This one should get updates to Jun 2030. I have 10th gen and very happy (8GB, 256GB).

    • It does, it has it listed in the specs?
      Digital Pen Included
      Yes
      Included Accessories
      Lenovo USI Pen

    • Yes, pen is included. Don't really need it as already have a Lenovo and Alogic. Hope I don't have to hack it like my other Lenovo USI pen to make it work properly :) Trying to work out if it's a USI 1 or 2.

      • Note it's USI 1 only

  • 8 GB LPDDR4X-4266MHz (Soldered)

    • Thanks but no thanks

Cant survive with 8gb now days

why would you pay $599 for chromebook when you can buy the windows device for the same price + similar specs?

    • +1

      buy the windows device 😉

  • I should of jumped on this when it was around 350 last yeah, if I recall it was for the 10th gen Intel.

  • How is Chrome book different from a laptop. Just reduced processing power? Thinking of getting this for my son in Year 10.

    • +1

Laptop is way better. Chrome book needs to have internet connection all the time or its almost useless.

    • +1

Would work perfectly fine for that use, see my comment below.

    • +1

Check with school IT first to see if suitable and supported.

  • That screen has a bigger chin than a European monarch.

    • Hahaha, but it sure can Gigachad F1 circuits.

  • +2

This is a great price, its my daily driver at work. Handles all web based stuff and video calls very easily. Of course if youre looking to do video or photo editing, or gaming, this isn’t the computer for you, but for office workers and students it's a great machine.

  • Chromebook vs windows which one??

  • does it have 3 USB A's?

    • looks like just the 1?

      • damn getting harder to find 3 for regular

  • Does this have a fingerprint reader? The Bing Lee page says it does, but I can't see mention of it on the Amazon page, and the photos don't seem to show one.

    • I don't think it does?

      • Thank you. I did some more reading and it seems the fingerprint reader didn't arrive until the 2022 model (this is the 2021 model). The 2022 also has a 400nit screen compared with 250 on this one.

  • I have the Idea Pad Duet 3 with 8gb/128gb. It is an awesome little unit. I think I bought it for $350 from JB last year. I like the screen.

Is this one a better choice? I like this one being an intel so, more app compatibility.

  • The Officeworks link in the description is for the 82M7002HAU, not the 82M7000UAU - the latter is listed at $897… difference being an i3 rather than i5, and the inclusion of the pen.

Also would Officeworks price beat if it’s back order on Amazon? If so, this deal is too good to pass up!

    • Just hope it doesn't drop again for Prime Day in a couple of weeks. FOMO 😊
