FontPack Pro for PC & OSX (1000 Open Type Fonts) - Free

370

Yet another nice freebee from BitsDuJour.. Yes, I know you can get free fonts from DaFont etc, but this is a 1000 fonts, commercial & personal licence included.

FontPack Pro is a premier collection of over a thousand OpenType fonts, offering the best in classic, refined, designer, and creative styles that are sure to match your needs perfectly. And since all of these fonts are OpenType, you never have to worry about cross-platform compatibility ever again! Your license gives you the freedom to use the FontPack Pro fonts in any variety of for-profit, commercial, and personal projects. It's the perfect collection for web developers, graphic designers, corporate design departments, you name it.

Edit: This pack will also work on a mac even tho it states that its PC only…

Edit 2: On further investigation, each individual has 4 different versions, normal, narrow, wide & expanded. The narrow/wide/expanded have only be scaled and look horrible. So in reality theres only 286 fonts, most of them are rubbish/unusable for anything other than using a sign where you want to offend someone.. Hey.. it's a FREEBIE ok? :)

remember heaps of unused fonts can slow down your PC and applications

    • I take so much, so i thought I'd sign up to give something back.
      This man is right ^

Fonts are cached at startup and by adding 1000 new one, depending on the software used, can be a rather big drain (anything that has a fonts menu can take a speed hit, including web browsers).

With todays computers, its not usually a lot, but its another thing to add onto the list of 'things noticibly slowing my PC down' even if it is to a minor extent.

This design magazine/site has links to some of the best free font resources. Highly recommended!

    Some great articles on a whole range of design topics, but there is a category just for typography;

  • Might want to add that they sell it for $150 :)

  • Great I need some more fonts…
Would they also work on a Mac?

From the text: It's because, for some fonts, there's no direct equivalent between PCs and Macs and the system has to substitute something different. That's why you need OpenType fonts…and you can have over 1000 of them if you get FontPack Pro!

But they only say for PC. ???

    • The installation readme file states it also works on OSX.. it is opentype after all..

      • Yep … works! just tried it :-)

      • the OTF extension means cross compatible…
