Are you just learning marshmallow is Gelatine? Its literally sugar, corn syrup and gelatin when you make it at home.
Boy I have some bad news for you.
There are some marshmallow brands that use vegetable gum. We always buy them for the kids.

Just warning people as ive seen vegetarians and people with kosher/halal diets eat them and are unaware regarding gelatine content
