Anticipated Comments

  • Difference between Community and Pro editions
  • Why not just use VSCode? This is for people that like using an IDE, not a text editor that runs in a web browser. The difference is night and day, especially for serious Python/Django development.
  • Can I use a personal license with company software? Yes

The license isn't restricted to one computer too. And it has javascript support and Jupyter notebook support - so you don't need the purchase their other products.

They update the software continuously throughout the year with new features.

Honestly, one of the best value software licenses I have ever had!

    Absolute legends indeed.

negging the post (not the deal) for having an underhanded go at vscode

No mention of PyCharm community edition which is free …

  • Triggered my jetbrains search alert, but I was hoping for IntelliJ. :( Upvoted anyway. Good deal.

    Absolute nonsense

From their FAQ, "Visual Studio Code is a streamlined code editor with support for development operations like debugging, task running, and version control. It aims to provide just the tools a developer needs for a quick code-build-debug cycle and leaves more complex workflows to fuller featured IDEs…" and it does run in a web engine.

    • Agreed. While I haven't used VSCode for Python it is definitely an IDE.
If software development is your day job, it is definitely worth paying for a good IDE. Even better if that is 30% off.
If not, well … free is free.
