haha 5 years later we're back at 5700 performance with same VRAM and same prices

    • But a cool new name implying it's better :P

Don't tell anybody, but you can get new 5700's from Aliexpress for less than $250 delivered ;)

      • Are they genuine….?

        • +4

Of course ;) But I wouldn't count on warranty (although, none of the 5 I have bought this year to pair with refurb PCs have been a problem)
          5700
          or
          5700 XT

          • @7ekn00: Is 5700xt better than 6600xt?

            • +1

              @alz: Pretty similar 5700XT vs 6600XT I would say:
              https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8It4SP_y1E

            • +2

@alz: perform similar, but 5700xt uses more power, and RDNA1 (what 5700xt use) can suffer from random black screen issue with early vBIOS. RDNA2 (6600xt architecture) IMO is a much better design.

2nd hand 5700xt has been through crypto heat waves twice, where 6600xt have only been through once(and none if you got a new card)

You can get a brand new 6600xt at around $350, and have full warranty and no vBIOS issue for certain.

I wouldn't risk 5700xt, warranty and power bill adds up.

              • -4

@OMGJL: Read much? The links are NEW cards, not second hand miners ;)

But spread all the FUD you like!

                • +1

@7ekn00: The link for the 5700XT clearly stated that it's used.

                • @7ekn00: let's forget about the refurbished sign on link you provided.

use some logic, if you are the seller, during the crypto hype, would you rather keep the card on the shelf, not selling it nor mining, and sell it at a much lower price after crypto, or would you do something else?

There are quite a few no name manufacturer, who buy those heavily mined card (even the broken ones), salvage and re-solder the core /memory ic to another PCB to sell them as new.

          • @7ekn00: The link for 57800XT shows a refurbished item.

    • +3

this is 1900 better than 5700… that's why it's also $190 more than a used 5700 on ebay

    • Surely the straight 6700 is better than this card for about same price.

    • +3

Referencing some meta reviews, you can see the RX 7600 is:

      1080p: +13% vs 5700XT, +27% vs 5700
      1440p: +10% vs 5700XT, +25% vs 5700

Now that would be totally fine if it were a $200 USD card max, and perhaps named the RX 7500, which is the same problem we're seeing with the RTX 4060 (AD107 24/24 SMs), and RTX 4060 Ti (AD106 34/36 SMs).

Some of this is grabbing at margins, but some of this is TSMC wafer costs probably being about 15% higher than they originally planned for, and other board costs also being unexpectedly higher when these cards were planned in mid-2020. But I get the sense production costs are dropping fast, so I wouldn't touch this until it's under $350, at least.

      Such a dumb comment smh

Surely nobody should be buying these now that the free copy of Resident Evil 4 promotion has just ended? Unless they have no choice.

Either wait for a new promotion or price drop.

    • My RX480 is struggling… And with Baldurs gate III in August and Starfield in September I've only got a month of hodling left in me

      • +4

titearse bastard get a new card lol

        • +2

          Ebay
          3060ti 350
          3070 450
          6800 <500 to 550

          New 6700xt 480 to 520

      • +2

i bought a used 6800XT because i gave up on this gen from metrocom ex mining for $570 during an ebay sale…

        • +2

I reckon we bought the same deal! Upgraded from my rx580, without jumping up to the 7900xt and mostly doubling the price I couldn't see the point.

          • +2

@k6iINsRnS0zHK: hehe..that's exactly the same thought process i had since i was hoping to grab a 7900XT but didnt see how it's worth payin double for 30% better perfomance ..

i do understand its comparing used vs new but 1 yr warranty from metrocom i was ok with that … aside from the worst packaging job to send it, the actual card looked as good as new.

            • +2

@scud70: Yeah the packaging wasn't great - mine had a slight bend at the end of the fan housing, but it hasn't affected the card. Runs awesome. Hoping for more of the same when I setup my next system

      • I've still got my RX480… holding out for a really good a deal on something…

        • this is not your good deal.. lol

        • Same. I have an rx480 and an r9 380 still running strong.

Quake3 is the only thing that's played in my house :)

          • @butter: you may never need to upgrade! :P

          • @butter: Dang even I upgraded my R9 270 to a 5600XT loll then sold it during covid and got a 3060 …now a 6800XT .. you keep them going mate!!! As long as your enjoying it all 🙂

    • +1

I would say no one should be buying these because they're cracking rather than just the game promotion:
      https://www.tomshardware.com/news/gigabyte-gpu-design-detail…

    • I think AMD may silently raise prices back after nvidia's horrible 4060 reviews. Wouldn't hold it past them.

  • +7

Check Gamer Nexus' review here before you make the purchase.

Struggles to make it self stand out from last gens 6600xt of all cards even overtaken in a few (4060 vs 3060ti deja vu moment) and the A750 also performs slightly better than it in a few titles thats optimised for Arc. An A750! You wouldnt think they are comparable but here we are.

I am eager for battlemage release because AMD isnt exactly doing budget gamers a favour neither it seems. Slightly better than Jensen but meh.

  • AMD really dragging their feet with GPU releases… meanwhile nVidia already pumped out every tier meme GPU's, 4060's, 4070's, 4080, 4090…

  • Read this as 6700 and got interested. Boo.

  • +7

Not a deal until it hits $349

7600 is 5% faster than the $340 6650 XT and only adds an AV1 encoder

Between sitting on the 7800, secretly working on the PS5 Pro / Series X2 APU and colluding with NVIDIA on both releases and price, AMD is done for this gen

RDNA 3 is a deliberate failure and has only been released to push sales of the better value RDNA 2 cards

The collusion is real: Jensen Huang and Lisa Su Family Tree Shows How Closely They Are Related

The collusion is real: Jensen Huang and Lisa Su Family Tree Shows How Closely They Are Related

I don't think this is the reason why their modern releases suck lol

    • Wait, I was hoping a 7800XT was going to come along and save us?

      • +1

If by ‘save us’ you mean a card thats ever so slightly better cost to performance wise than Nvidia’s 40 gen jokes. Sure something like that is coming

Otherwise no. AMD is more than happy to play the underdog in this duopoly and keep up the price gouging.

      • 7800 XT giving 4070 Ti performance with extra 4GB VRAM (16GB) and inferior raytracing at AU$900 is a flop

Only 2 decent next-gen value cards on the horizon

If AMD release it, a 7700 which is the PC version of the PS5 Pro / Series X2 GPU. Just like the 6700 non XT 10GB that was based on the PS5 / Series X dies

If Intel Battlemage delivers 4070 Ti performance with 16GB VRAM at AU$600, that would take over the mid end. Raytracing, software support and driver updates are already better than AMD

  • $50 more than the 6600xt I bought a year ago. Why is this a deal?

    • It's a 1000 more than your 6600… That's all that matters

      • lol pretty much. Identical performing sand but one has a higher anglo saxon numeral printed on it.
