40cm x 40cm working area makes this a pretty meh deal. For a laser of that power you're going to be cutting, and if you're going to be cutting you'll want about 1m x 1m working space or you'll have to constantly replace the material.

I'm also curious if it is a true 10W optical output - lasers are often advertised with misleading wattage ratings.

You've also mentioned that it can engrave metal, but diode lasers are very bad at that. Can it actually engrave metal without additional additives being needed? Can it anneal metal?

    How does it handle flesh?

I've lasered sausages with lasers more powerful than this. They cut, and it's morbidly fascinating.

    • I reckon it'll have a fair go at a retina or two. Won't be very visible, but then you won't be too worried about the visiblity of anything after that.

  • Not even close to cheapest for a 10W. The Two Trees 10W one is only $437 from 3D Printers Online Australia (bricks and mortar store). https://3dprintersonline.com.au/product/two-trees-tts-10w-la…

  • Of course the price doesnt include essential safety items like extraction fan or tinted cover for eye protection

So unless you like going blind or inhaling carcinogens, maybe steer clear unless youre prepared to spend some more $$ on saftey gear….
