This game is coming day 1 to Xbox game pass.

    • +27

It's a Bethesda game, something tells me you might not want to play it day 1…

      • +4

        Starfield 2077 :D

        • +3

That's CDPR. This is Bethesda, maybe Starfield 76?

          • +1

@edfoo: oof thinking of Fallout 76 just triggered my PTSD

        • +4

Still more relevant than complaining about the semantics of free PS Plus games.

          • -3

@SydStrand: You actuallly misunderstand my conment. The comment is more relavent in its own right as its no skin off anyone's nose if the game is bad day 1 if they get it included on game pass. They might care if they bought it day 1 or got it with their cpu.

As for calling things free that you're actually paying for, how about this FREE amd 7800X3D processor with any purchase of protective box?

          • -1
      • -3

Never understood these lame comments about bethesda game bugs, I have spent many hundreds of hours each in Morrowind, oblivion, Skyrim and fallout 3 and other than some occasional fun physics shenanigans, they have been practically flawless and devoid of virtually anything I would call a genuine bug.
        This is across OG Xbox, 360, PS3, PS4, XB1, XSX & PC.

        • -1

Millennials, Gen-Z (And i'm from Gen-Z before people sook) all expect everything to be perfect everytime no matter what, the world is full of entitled morons and if any one of them had a clue about gaming engineering they'd soon find out making pokemon on the gameboys wasn't done overnight, so imagine something on the scale of a Oblivion, ESO, Fallout hell even GTA's Red Deads and Cyberpunk.

It's easier to moan and rant for 10 seconds then it is to stop and think basically.

          • @DMak92: I think it is more that milanials (me, although I'm right on the boarder between z and milanial) were playing games before patches and updates were a possibility so day 1 releases were usually pretty close to flawless. I think that expectation has stayed but the standards at release have slipped, partly due to the scope and complexity of games increasing by orders of magnitude and partly because companies know they can put some bugs on the back burner and fix after release.

I'm not saying I disagree with your point, but I think it is more nuanced than "game not perfect, me whinge"

        • -1

There were plenty of game stopping bugs. Will it stop me playing it? no. Is my game likely to brick somehow and be unbeatable? Yes.

    • Day 6.

  • -1

Time for some x3d cpu deals

Also did anyone watch GNs video on the starfield fsr exclusive thing, amds pr reply is worrying to see: https://youtu.be/w_eScXZiyY4

    • -5

FSR works on AMD and NVidia and Intel. It's open source. DLSS only works on NVidia. Why waste development resources on a singular platform when you can support all three with a single solution?

      • +4
        1. FSR is not as good as DLSS with Nvidia gpus or XeSS if you are the few using arc cards, period

        2. Nvidia openly said that devs are free to implement DLSS in addition to competitors upscaling tech, while AMD have repeated dodged that question from GN

        3. There is a reason we are getting community DLSS mods on amd sponsor titles that don’t support DLSS

      • +1

        Horrendously misinformed comment.

        1) FSR is objectively inferior to DLSS and nVidia have like 85% market share. Awful lot of GPU owners being ignored by taking cash from AMD for FSR exclusivity.

        2) It isn’t a waste of development resources. It assists owners of what is by far the largest GPU brand get better visual quality than they would with FSR.

        3) In the words of a Nixxes PC developer on the issue - it is “trivial” to support all three technologies and there is “no excuse” (besides a cash bribe I guess.)

        • -1

I bet most people here couldn't tell the difference in a blind test.

  • +4

Dont need the game but need some good prices on 7700x or 7800x3d. Last piece of the build!

    • I'd love starfield. But the cpu is my last missing piece also lol got my b650 aorus pro ax board and g.skill 6400 cl32 ram a few days ago. Just waiting on some decent prices for the 7800x3d. It was around $650 during eofy Sales do if i can get it for around that with the game I'd be happy

  • +1

Great timing, I was thinking of upgrading from my trusty old 1080Ti to the 7900XTX for Starfield. Glad I didn't pull the trigger earlier.

    • +1

Literally bought my 7900xtx when there was zero game promos on. Ones before it and after it of course. Lameee. Star field looks good too bummer, ah well waiting for d4 season to start now 😁

    • +1

It will be an upgrade from 1060 6GB for me. Genuinely considering the 7900XTX.

  • +4

Just picked up a 6 month ex mining 6800 for $479 from MetroCom looked brand new upon arrival. Very happy with the purchase and price so far.

Happy to check out Starfield with a cheap GamePass. I don't think I'll be doing so at launch as I'll be busy with BG3 😎

  • -1

Would you be eligible to claim if CPU is bought before July?

    • +2

No. Because otherwise you could claim Jedi Surivor, too. Greedy boys get one cookie only.

      • I'm buying my parts special at a time and bought mine before during the Jedi promo. I got my code, does anyone know if the code is still valid once i finish my PC this month? (you can't claim it without the verification tool proving you're running the cpu)

  • +2

Interested in knowing if it's a Steam Key, I assume it's likely as even AOE4 physical copy came with the option of Steam/Microsoft.

    • +2

I was assuming microsoft. Makes more sense but the option would be awesome ! Hopefully someone can clarify it soon

    • I doubt it. This is a publisher promo, meaning you'll likely get a code that can only be used on their storefront. The Jedi Survivor AMD promo code could only be redeemed on EA/Origin, not Steam.

      • +1

But EA games have not been a Steam key in any capacity, Microsoft sells its first party retail games as choice of client which is much more applicable to this circumstance.

        • I mean, you're welcome to hope, but why would EA or Microsoft give free promo keys that can be redeemed on a competing digital storefront, when they can cut Valve out of the picture, save money, and also generate more traffic to their store.

          • +2

@SydStrand: Because Microsoft already do give out Steam Keys, it's a reasonable assumption that something that is currently happening, will happen.

Steam Keys don't cost the developer/publisher, they're free with a limit proportional to their Steam Store sales, which won't be an issue given that Microsoft outsell themselves on the Steam store.

            • @Jimbuscus: They sell Steam keys, but this is a co-marketing freebie between AMD and MS. Microsoft can't unilaterally decide to piggyback off Valve's servers for free. There is 100% a cost to Steam activation, small or large, though it may be bundled into another, larger quid pro quo deal with Valve. I'm too cynical to believe they won't use this to push the Xbox front end because ultimately, it's a freebie and beggars can't be choosers.

  • AMD Ryzen 5 7700? I think AMD made a typo there. Should be 7600 I guess.

  • +2

Time to grab some keys off people who don't want it

  • +2

fsr will never be as good as dlss

    • -1

Too bad amd fanboys are already in droves in this thread. My comment got negged so hard lmao.

  • +1

Boo. I got impatient and picked up a 7800x3d and 7900xtx yesterday 😂

  • -2

It's too bad the 5600X3D, which is newer than most of the CPU's listed, isn't included in the list.

    • +2

not relevant for anyone outside the US anyways

    • +3

      isn't that microcenter exclusive

  • -2

Buyer beware. The AMD authentication tool used to claim games doesn't work 100% of the time. AMD do not offer any support. Places like centrecom write in their fine print there's nothing they can do to help as it's a amd issue.

  • Bro 7800X3D is supposedly better for gaming than 7900X3D but 7900X3D gets deluxe?

    • +1

Yes, so AMD is enticing people to pickup the higher-end product in order to try and move the stock they're not moving.

  • Are we going to see any reasonably priced 6800 XT cards to use with this deal?

  • If someone purchased a 7900XTX back in June and adjusted the invoice to show I purchased in July, would that person be able to claim this? Asking for a friend…

  • Fml, bought a 7900xtx yesterday….

At least I'm buying a 7800x3d in a few days so I'll get something

  • Worth upgrading from rtx3080 to 7900xtx? Hitting VRAM limits in MSFS pretty often.

    • -1

this article is a good comparison of most GPU's with handy simple charts like this that's raw performance

in terms of VRAM 10/12GB vs 24GB cannot imagine any games =< 4K requiring more without raw performance becoming the bottleneck

    • 10GB can be a limiting factor in a handful of current games if playing 1440p/4k with ray tracing and will only get more limiting.
16GB and above is the only safe bet for VRAM amount. I imagine 24GB would have you sorted for the foreseeable future.

  • -1

Definitely thinking of getting the 6950xt thats on prime sale atm. upgrading from a 3050. i mainly play older titles with mods on pc. but with the $300 discount and starfield mods in the future. thinking its a good buy

    • +1

      Amazon isn't a participating retailer

  • worth upgrading from a 3070 to a 7900XTX?

  • Just a heads up before anyone rushes out and buys computer hardware tonight, please look for the actual terms and conditions for the SEA / Australia region on the AMD rewards page; if you do not see the terms and conditions and you make a purchase anyway, you will not be receiving a redemption code for Starfield as the retailer that sold you the hardware would not have received a reward code from their suppliers.

    https://www.amdrewards.com/terms

ChatGPT has assumed that the promotion for Australia starts at exactly the same time as the Taiwanese promotion, however as of yesterday AMD taiwan has actually removed the Starfield redemption page and replaced it with some other promo (it's a chinese horror game 女鬼橋 開魂路)

  • Per scrimshaw's post, most AU and US retailers have not activated the Starfield promo yet

Some US retailers like Newegg have the landing page ready but without the AMD T&C: https://www.newegg.com/AMD-Starfield-Game-Bundle-Promotion-S…

The only exception is PCByte: https://www.pcbyte.com.au/amd-starfield

They are selling the eligible CPU's and GPU's now and presumably sending the Starfield redemption codes later

  • +1

    Promo officially live

Confirmed that game will be delivered via Steam

  • Wondering if I buy multiple products (separate transactions) whether I can sell the additional code redemption? I'm sure that there are some folks here that would buy, right?

    • Yes, they are just a steam code once redeemed from AMD Rewards page

I'm thinking of doing similar for Resident Evil 4 card I got recently with my Radeon

  • Deal updated with participating retailers

Note that both Mwave and Shopping Express are currently NOT partcipating in the bundle and not listed on the official AMD promo page

  • +1

Anyone know how to redeem this from Umart? They don't give any info on the promo page as to how you get the code

Also interesting that it says Mwave isn't participating in this promo as in the deals newsletter Mwave sent out earlier this week there was a big starfield promo link? (under "featured offers")

However I can't find it anywhere on their actual website

    • Anyone know how to redeem this from Umart?

Open a ticket with "Need Help?" from this page and request a code

However I can't find it anywhere on their actual website

After a month, Mwave still not referring to the promo on any of their AMD CPU and GPU product pages so their non-participation is deliberate

      • Both mwave and Umart gave me a code actually.

        • …in the deals newsletter Mwave sent out earlier this week there was a big starfield promo link? (under "featured offers")

Do you have the promo link to share with everyone?

If Mwave can't be bothered confirming with AMD in time and also updating their own public web store, that is on them

          • @Look Up: yeah, they don't have it on their site for some reason so no link to see
I contacted their support however and they told me to email [email protected], and lo and behold finally got my key that way.

          • @Look Up: oh and I meant promo "pic" not link, there was a banner image in the email with no link to anything

            • @jyfc: Thanks - will update Mwave with your experience

  • +1

The participant list seems to be wrong.
    1. Missing from the list: Aftershock, BPC Tech
    2. List includes retailers who are not participants: PC Case Gear, Scorptec

    Source: https://www.amd.com/en/promotions/starfield-bundle#greater-c…

    • Missing from the list: Aftershock, BPC Tech

      Good pickup - now added

List includes retailers who are not participants: PC Case Gear, Scorptec

PCCG and Scorptec are in the promo, they just confirmed late and after AMD updated the site
