  • Interesting.. though I will only buy a Vita if it's white.

    • +1

No white for international markets yet. But yes, I'll take it in White. Personally I won't be buying it till the 3G version comes in white, and is about $250 delivered :)

      • +1

When you factor in the typical stuff you will buy with the handheld (screen protector, case) and an expensive memory card, it's not that attractive a deal anymore. But I'll be keeping an eye on Vita deals.

No hurry to buy one just yet. I anticipate a price drop soonish. But if a killer deal happens before then, I might just bite.

        • Sony said not in 2012.

  • Was thinking about posting this as a deal, but I can't guarantee it works. Amazon Germany is offering a free digital copy of Fifa (and your choice of 3 games hard copy at 15 Euro off). Would need a German PS Account of course.

I don't think it would need a German credit card address (afaik) , but the process is all in German. Offer ends tomorrow

    Excellent price
Thought this was s dupe but infact the white has gone up in price and the black has gone down
    Must learn to read =)
    Good catch !!

    • thanks :) yea i looked at the black the other day when white posted and was happy to see it gone down now :)

      • +1

Updated my post and linked the new price to your post

  • -2

To OP - the Galaxy Tab is a dupe so please remove. Was posted by easternculture just a couple of days ago. Price difference is due to exchange rates.
Also if you factor in the free Vita game the Vita from German Amazon seems to be on par with this.

Ahhh so tempted to get the Vita….must resist.

    • +1

Do it, I love mine. Best device I own.

      • +3

I wish i hadn't checked Ozbargain today….it's slowly wearing me down.

        • In which way - or do you mean it is wearing your bank account down? ;-)

I do not want to be a naysayer but this is what you get when people jump on things they do not understand - please ask somebody who speaks Italian in the future or check foreign pages very, very diligently. Your link links to a white(!) tab, NOT black as stated! The picture shows a black tab but the title and description shows it is white (BIANCO).

"Samsung Tablet Galaxy Tab 2 Display 10.1 Pollici, Bianco"

Please correct the title as it is misleading and wrong.

Also, according to the description the Vita comes with Spanish language and manuals (Spagnolo) (and subtitles in German - Tedesco) - maybe put that in the description as a note in order to make people aware of it.

Otherwise, the Vita is a really good find.

    • to be fair, google translates it to Black , well for me it does

      • -3

If you put in Bianco it translates it to black? Really? I just checked and it comes up as "white".
But it is exactly for this reason that I only look at websites where I can read and understand the language as that way I do not have to really on webpages which might or might not be faulty. And the users here rely on that as it is a foreign language to most of them as well. Imagine the surprise of somebody who ordered a tab thinking it is black (and hence did not buy from your post) and now gets a white one anyway.

        • +3

i have updated, i can't tell what colour as translate the whole sentence is black, translate one word is white, model number may have some hint to what colour. i would still assume black, as sold directly from amazon.it, but updated the post for you so people are not disappointed either way. personally i am very grateful for these overseas amazon posts in the past regardless of the language, as there are some really good buys and i am willing to take the risk

        • I assume with the Vita the language can be changed?

        • Probably you are right but I would confirm with someone who knows about the Vita (or maybe call EB games etc.)

        • Yes, they are great and you found two great deals but one has to be careful with the descriptions, not so much with warranty as Amazon takes care of that. In the more detailed description (specifications) it also states that the primary color is white (Colore primario Bianco) so I would assume that the description on the Amazon page itself is correct - not what Google that is unrelated to Amazon translates (which is why they disclaim any warranty as to the accuracy of the translations in their T&Cs.

        • +1

Correct, it has approx 20 languages to choose from and you are prompted the first time you turn it on.

This deal is posted every week.

    • Go to the search window and type "Vita" Or "Amazon.it" . Same deals posted week after week with people asking the same questions about the same products.

  • Didn't realise this but 3g model also has GPS built in.

Can anyone tell me if the region process restricts any games? Apparently their are 6-7 regions for the hardware.

    http://www.edepot.com/playstation.html#PSP2_Model_Difference…

    • Games are region free. DLC is not and also some games have an online pass. Easiest way to check for online passes is to go onto PSN store on PS3 and check the Vita>DLC section and see if the game you are interested in has an online pass there.
Easier still ask in the Vita thread on whirlpool.

  • Hmm logged onto Amazon and it changed the Vita price from Euro to Pound and i'm not sure how to get it back to Euro :(

    • If you got to Amazon.it, then log in, it should keep it in Euro. Only if you use Google Translate it shows in pounds. Just use the Italian site to check.

      1. Put the Vita in the basket
      2. Go to basket/checkout
      3. Pick address
      4. Pick payment method
      5. Here you should see the final price incl. delivery, then switch of Amazon currency converter (should show price in Euro)
      6. Then click buy (if you want to)
      • +2

Ahh i had used google translate….damn your making this too easy… i need reasons to stop me buying ;)

        • reason 1 for not buying : you'll be sleeping on the couch tonight

  • +1

That's OK. You are doing a good deed by stimulating the Italian economy - you rbit to help them out of crisis. See, it's a win-win situation and you can feel doubly happy. :-)

  • still undecided….i'm at work so can't research things too much, are the prices of the 16gb & 32gb memory cards from Italian amazon good or bad?

  • I guess the price for the item in the link is good as compared to Oz prices but others know more about tablets, so maybe they can comment and help you.

Above all, I'm hoping for a "slim n lite" downsize of the Vita. I would feel dumb if I bought it and then they announced a new refresh. So I might just wait. This deal will come back sooner or later anyway.

    • Yes, wait to avoid feeling dumb.

Sony doesn't do Nintendo. You'll be waiting another 2 years at least.

      • -2

Were you around when the PSP was released? One new refresh each year, Apple style. The first refresh was a "Slim n Lite".

Secondly, the Vita is selling abysmally. It's getting outsold by the PSP, which in itself has been performing abysmally for the past 4 years or so.

If they wait 2 years to do something, they may as well throw in the towel now.

        • +1

          i smell a noob…

        • Yes, I was around and I owned many PSP's but you are wrong. The PSP 1000 was released in 2004, 2000 model was released early 2007, the 3000 model late 2008. The Go was released late 2009. E1000 model late 2011. So yes, 3 models in 3 consecutive years but over 3 years from 1st model to second. There is a reason for the consecutive releases though, the consoles were being hacked wide open so Sony were bringing out new hardware revisions to counteract the pirates.

The Vita has not been hacked. They will not release another Vita for at least two years. Enjoy your wait though, wouldn't want you feeling dumber than you have to feel.

        • It's hard to say whether they will or won't…Sony's in bad financial shape and desperately needs a cheaper version of the Vita to sell but can they afford to develop another version of it.

        • PlayStation brand I'd fine though, its the TV etc that are in strife.

        • Playstation brand is fine but the company as a whole is bleeding money, this means every area of the company needs to watch the $$.

        • Yes, I was around and I owned many PSP's but you are wrong. The PSP 1000 was released in 2004

Only in Japan. The rest of the world got it in 2005. But I'll give you that it took 2 years for the first refresh, not one.

So yes, 3 models in 3 consecutive years but over 3 years from 1st model to second. There is a reason for the consecutive releases though, the consoles were being hacked wide open so Sony were bringing out new hardware revisions to counteract the pirates.

However, one very key difference that you're missing is that the PSP sold well. The Vita has been selling extremely poorly, and if they leave it and do nothing for two years, it will surely be dead. Developers will stop making games for it long before two years if they don't either slash the price or remake it into something more appealing.

The hacking stopped at PSP 3000. It actually stopped with later revisions of the 2000. The Go and E1000 had nothing to do with piracy.

The Vita has not been hacked.

There's no point hacking something that no one is buying. The worldwide sales of the Vita are laughable. If they refresh it, it won't be because the Vita is being hacked. The market has simply moved on from dedicated handhelds, and I suspect the large size of the handheld plays a part in the lack of demand for it.

If hacking is the only reason to make refreshes, why does Apple do it every year?

They will not release another Vita for at least two years.

If they do that, the system is dead. Right now it's merely on life support. Enjoy your dead handheld. There is nothing on the handheld right now or coming soon that I will miss playing for these two years. For me it's no great loss. Most of the good games on it are available on other platforms with better quality.

Enjoy your wait though, wouldn't want you feeling dumber than you have to feel.

Enjoy your platform with no real games to play on it…

You make it sound like this two year wait will be an agonizing one for me. In case I didn't make it clear, I don't actually desire the system (or else I would have paid the market price for it), or dream about having one. I'd only be buying it because I found it dirt cheap and considered it good value (in true OzBargain fashion).

I mean honestly, how many people have you bumped into that you saw playing a Vita?

I'll say it again. If a refresh doesn't come next year with a reduced price, this system is done. Even the 3DS is killing it, and that system wasn't exactly successful. No one buys a Vita, and when developers realise that, they'll stop making games for it, which will give people even less reason to buy it, and a vicious cycle develops. Sony can't afford to leave things as it is for two more years, if they want to salvage anything positive out of this device.

          TLDR.

          Cool Story Bro.

        • +1

he want all jv on you too haha!!

  • Btw, WipeOut 2048 for 27$ seems reasonable? Any reason not to buy?
